The Witches of BlackBrook
The Witches of BlackBrook - Tish Thawer

In 1693 Karina Howe was burned as a witch; she and her two sisters Kara and Kenna lived as true witches in Ipswitch, Massachusetts.  Before Karina could be burned alive, however, she cast a powerful spell that launched the souls of herself and her sisters forward through time.  The demon that separated them in 1693 also managed to get caught up in Karina's spell and finds a way every generation to keep one sister separate from the others so their full potential will never be reached.  Presently, in Blackbrook, NY Karina lives as Trin with one of her sisters, Kit and they have spent all of their lives looking for the third sister.  When Caris and her cousin Jason move into town, Trin feels a bond of the sisterhood with them.  The more time Trin spends with Caris and Jason, the more she feels that they are connected, but as their connection grows, an evil shadow seems to tear them apart.

This was a quick, fun paranormal romance read.  I really liked the idea that the witches were not truly killed, but their souls carried on through time.  At first the plot seemed very simple to me, Trin and Kit are looking for their sister, and when Caris moves into town everything seems to be solved.  However, when Caris and Jason arrive, another mystery is introduced.  The black shadow that follows them around and seems to deter them from being with one another opens up Trin to her past lives.  I really did enjoy Trin trying to figure out the connection between herself, Kit, Jason and Caris, and when it was finally revealed, I was not expecting it at all.  A dramatic ending tied everything up nicely with a very different outcome for the witches of Salem than anyone would have expected.

This book was received for free in return for an honest review.

Tish Thawer has done it again!
The Witches of BlackBrook - Tish Thawer

From the moment I opened this book and read the first paragraph, I was hooked. Ms. Thawer has woven a magical tale that blends the mayhem in Salem during the late 1600’s, a time when being a witch was something you kept a secret for fear of repercussions, into the present, where past choices have consequences and they’ve now come full circle. I can promise you that you will not be disappointed with the magic imbued on these pages. If you are looking for a quick read that will leave you spellbound, then this is the story for you! I truly want to share so much more, but I never spoil a great read. *grin* I will, however, leave you with this…

Which character from The Witches of BlackBrook will you most want to be? I’m still trying to decide. *wink*

So...once again, Regina Wamba, of Mae I Design, has taken over my life. Her beautiful art has inspired an entire story, which I'm already engrossed in writing! ‚Ä™#‎Reginaismymuse‚Ĩ. I can't wait to share this one with you all!
BLURB: Through space and time, sisters entwined. Lost then found, souls are bound.
Flames licked the hem of my dress as I worked to free my hands from the ropes. Somber faces, etched with malice or fear, looked on as I squirmed against the stake. I refused to close my eyes or scream. I wouldn't give them that. No. I would prove to be as defiant and wild as they deemed me while dragging me from my home.
Kara and Kenna stood hidden at the back of the crowd, silently pleading for me to use my magic to escape. I wanted to, oh how I wanted to, just to see these purists running for the hills. But staring into my sister’s eyes as my legs started to burn, I knew I had to do whatever it took to keep them safe.
I closed my eyes, the chant beginning simple as always, words from the Goddess flowing into my mind. “Come to me, death that be, flames surrounds, peace abounds; flesh to earth, spirit to soar, transport our souls, alive forever more.”
