Geared Up (Tales Of The Citadel #54) by Viola Grace Review
Geared Up (Tales of the Citadel Book 54) - Viola Grace

Niad has controlled herself since returning from the Citadel. She has kept out of the public eye and kept off the Guardians’ radar. Her talent is not encouraged by her people, and she is not legally allowed to participate in a rescue, a natural disaster or any law-enforcement actions.

She keeps her head down and continues her work as a vehicle repair specialist until the day that her careful actions mix with a disaster. She finds a fire where a repair job is supposed to be and takes steps to do the best she can for those trapped inside.

That one act is observed by one of the Guardians and evolves into an arrest, a charge, freedom and a change in position. She is ready to gear up.

What I love about this book is that we have a working class heroine, a mechanic, with a job that is little valued in her culture and that she uses her skills to save people.

Very fun. The romance is nice too and she has great parents.

Untrained Fascination (Brace for Humanity, #1) by Viola Grace Review
Untrained Fascination (Brace for Humanity Book 1) - Viola Grace

Like thousands of humans, Lianne works for the Rrassic on a world she didn’t know existed. A friend stuck her neck out during registration and hid Lianne’s compatibility with the Rrassic under the guise of an existing allergy to cats.

An accident at a public event made Lianne run into the action, and a few small cuts left enough of her at the scene to give the hunters a trail to follow.

Sorrok selected Lianne as a possible mate back on Earth, but he wasn’t the one to collect her during the final extraction, so he was sure that someone else would have found their way into her bed.

His delight meets feral possessiveness, and while he changes her life, he makes sure that there is a place for him in it.

Review

I found this world an interesting one if highly unethical. The imbalance of power made for a lot of discomfort but at the same time it felt more realistic as to what it might be like if such abductions were to occur.

A like the different kinds of the "races" in the aliens. I like that the heroine has a working class job she is very good at and is in this kind of zoned out space in her head in this new reality.

The hero is very steeped in his own culture. He is kind over all.

There are some plot turns that are unexpected and interesting and the romance is much more developed, longer, and more layered than Grace's books usually are.

I liked it.

Takes Two to Tackle (Santa Fe Bobcats, #3) by Jeanette Murray Review
Takes Two to Tackle: Santa Fe Bobcats Series, Book 3 - Jeanette Murray,Carly Robins,Tantor Audio

Football player Stephen Harrison has hit rock bottom—he’s fresh out of rehab, lost too much weight to be an effective offensive lineman, and has no support system in place. Luckily for Stephen, he does have a housekeeper. Margaret has always dreamed of starting her own elite cleaning service, and the money Stephen offers her to play the part of girlfriend is too good to pass up. But while Mags is helping Stephen bulk up and get ready for training camp, she can’t seem to block the feelings crashing into her heart. And one night of passion will pull both of their heads out of the game...

Review

This is the first book I have read in this series and my first book by this writer and I really enjoyed it.

The love story deals with addiction in a thoughtful caring way. It is a great sports romance. And the friends to lovers theme is well done.

Stephan is a wonderful hero with none of the alpha male man ho issues I dislike. He talks about his feelings. He has to as part of his recovery and has friends.

Mags is a wonderful working class heroine with her own support network and dreams. She is great.

Their relationship is honest and tender.

There, for me, is some silliness in the end which isn't needed if they would talk to each other sooner and then we would get more after time as a couple that would make the book better but very good fun and love overall.

I recommend!

Worth It All (The McKinney Brothers #3) by Claudia Connor Review
Worth It All - Claudia Connor

She’s fighting for control. . . . Paige Roberts learned to fend for herself growing up. Now she’s doing everything possible to give her daughter, Casey, the stability she never had. But when the vivacious five-year-old decides she’s done wearing her prosthesis, Paige faces her toughest challenge yet: trusting a handsome, brooding stranger who simply wants to help.

He’s struggling to connect. . . . JT McKinney lost more than his leg in a car accident that stole his dreams of pro football. Eight years later, he's made a new life for himself far away from his old one. His business is developing cutting-edge prosthetics and he’s more than happy to turn his attention to machines instead of people. Still, he can’t shake the feeling that something’s missing.

Will they take a chance on love? . . . When JT gets the chance to help Paige’s daughter, he takes it. He never planned on the two of them tearing down his walls or teaching him to believe in himself again. Paige might not believe in happily ever afters, but JT wants more than anything to be her prince. They’ll both have to let go of the past if they want a future.

Review

This is a sweet romance with an overworked single mom as our heroine. The hero and the heroine's daughter have both lost legs for different reasons and this brings them together though the hero already had a crush on the mom.

The hero is a biomedical engineer who patents AI and artificial limbs which is better cool. He is pretty young and suppose to be super smart. I would have loved to see more of that part of him.

The heroine is a waitress working two jobs and starting back to school with an almost five year old. The child's issues about going to school are compelling and the romance is a lovely one.

However, for me, I would have liked more on the hero in the years after his accident, college and grad school wise, and for the heroine I would have liked her to have more of sexual self (her sexual history didn't seem all that realistic or at least I would have liked that talked about and explored).

I am interested in the other books in the series
