Verity - Colleen Hoover

I feel like everyone has read CoHo but me, so I found one and sat to read. Now I get what all the hype was about. If you haven't read anything by this author before, I suggest this book as a wicked place to start. I hope all of her books are this good.
I like a twisted story, and this was exactly that! Oh, but it was so much more too!
You hate Verity for most of the story.
Then you end up feeling like you should be worried for Lowen.
Who did what?! Why?! You think you know but do you really.
And usually in books such as these the ending gets rushed and lost but nope. The author weaved it all together perfectly and you wanted another story where you knew one would fit. With Lowen.
In my mind, this could totally be a series. I'm assuming the author is done though. My mind isn't!!!
I can't wait to devour more from this author!

GRILLED FOR MURDER by Maddie Day
Grilled For Murder (A Country Store Mystery) - Maddie Day

The morning after a party attended at her country store, Robbie goes down to begin her day and discovers the body of Erica, the party's honoree. She investigates on her own but lets the cops know what she finds. Robbie has theories. Some more farfetched than others. Other things are also happening in town. Robbie has a list of suspects but cannot narrow it down. Who did it? Also, what is that tool she found?

I love these characters. They are like a family almost (probably get along better than some.) Robbie's romance has hit the rocks. I feel bad for her. Not so sure what I feel towards Jim right now. I only hope there is no collateral damage from it. I'm getting to like Buck. He's okay. Wanda's rough around the edges. The story was good. I am no detective. Until it plays out at the end, I did not know who I was looking at for the murder. Am looking forward to reading the next book.

Still Game - Rumaan Alam

This was my least favorite of the series.
I didn't like the style of writing.
I didn't like the story.
I didn't think it fit with the series at all.
No mystery, no suspense, no thrills, nothing.
Just words. Telling us of a vacation. Nothing special happened.
I'm bored.

Catch Her In A Lie - Jess Lourey

There were parts of this story that I really loved.
Then there were parts that fell so flat for me.
Sadly, the parts that fell flat kind of mattered.
So I loved the idea of a cop having these visions and knowing what bad guys were doing. I also love what she did with those visions, and the outcome of the whole thing. What I didn't like was how the author got us there. The middle of the story, where the plot is supposed to be thickest, was thin as paper. It was muddled and over before you knew it. As a fan of thriller/horror/suspense/mystery.... I wanted and expected more in that moment.
Still, I liked the story as a whole. It just was lacking details.

Belle Mer - Luanne Rice

I feel like this story should have been longer. The ending was good but rushed.
I still don't really get how we got from point A to B but okay.
I liked the story itself, as a whole.
Out of the set, so far it was the weakest for me though.
But on the other hand, I liked it enough to want to read more from this author.
