I saw that, but wasn't having problems at the time so I forgot about it. : )
Since Booklikes doesn't have a lot of ads (or any that I've seen) I'll just keep it off.

I'm wondering if it's just somehow is interfering with the cookies.
Which is probably the same thing, I just don't know anything about programming.
BookLikes uses a LOT of javascripting and some of the plug-ins will blog those scripts if they are from sources on their no-no lists. That's the problem with the review page anyway - javascript runs part of the review text input box.

You were right. It really was adblock. Again.
It's me again with the stupid Goodreads Synch.. Why doesn't it synchronize all books? It would be much easier, if there would be a cvs file or something like that. :(
Is anyone else experiencing extreme sluggishness from BookLikes?

I am actually unable to write a review because I can't get the page to load. Each base pageload is taking 30-60 seconds, and that's not including icons. As I write, none of the text-style icons have loaded yet.
About half the time, I'm seeing error code 520 instead of pageloads, and on each page (looking at chrome-inspect) I'm seeing "failed to load resource" errors with error codes 522 and 520.
I'm seeing a ton of calls that timed out after 15 s or more, eg.

Is anyone else seeing this?
Right now (20:40 USA EST) it is VERY sluggish and has been most of (my AU) morning. It's been reported, although I don't know how quickly it'll get addressed (it's 2.40am in Poland/Germany).

I suspect, because this has been happening (although not THIS badly) sporadically in the past few weeks that the system resources are being over allocated to either utility scripts like indexing or import feeds - but I'm only guessing.

It's frustrating because a few weeks ago the site was stable and fast as hell; then it was down for several hours and the performance graph has looked liked a roller coaster since.
I'm just checking in after being out for the Thanksgiving holiday and it's not only running incredibly slow, I can't even "publish" comments. Maybe this won't even post. :(
It's *slightly* improved for me in the last 10 minutes or so... but not enough to cheer about; just enough to keep my swearing to an undertone.
Omg paint dries faster than this. I think dial up is speedier.
I had trouble saving and posting a review. Got it up eventually, but got error pages along the way, and it's not formatting quite right. I hope the issues get resolved.
I had issues tagging a post earlier. It would not let me add tags. I had to publish the post, then go back into edit and then I could add the tags.

And yes...it's been horrendously slow all day.
Page loads take forever; so does commenting off the dashboard -- commenting off blog pages is impossible because the pages don't fully load to begin with. I managed to post one "Twelve Tasks" post yesterday morning, but the posting window has never fully opened for me ever since.

Also, since last night, every single time I open a BookLikes page,my protection software perks up and reports a hostile website. I can still open and load most pages (everything in dashboard view -- the dash itself, blog, shelves, discussion forums, etc. -- will fully load eventually, even though it takes forever; other members' blog pages won't load completely, however), but it looks like they've added yet another thing that my software doesn't like, and it's not a Firefox app this time, it's something that genuinely runs afoul of my protection software.
What site/url is being reported as hostile? I want to make sure I'm blocking it.
From adblock, looks like I'm blocking something from rum-collector.pingdom.net, which doesn't exactly sound legit... is that the one you're seeing? Or is it the cloudflare one?
...and what are they doing running such illegit code...?

It doesn't give me the URL, unfortunately. I just see the popup window that usually blocks hostile sites, with a notation saying "hostile URL," whenever I open a BookLikes page. Or at least, that's what happened last night and this morning at home. I'm at work right now, and am not experiencing the same thing -- though the protection software is the same (my private laptop has a remote connection to our office server(s), therefore I must use the same protection software on my laptop as we're using at the office).

Hmm, must investigate further when I get home. Though if it's rum-collector.pingdom.net, shouldn't I be seeing I'm blocking that both on my laptop and at the office?

Cloudflare so far hasn't been an issue for me -- but then, I'm not running Adblocker + ...

But yeah, I'm wondering about what sort of code they're running, too!
pingdom.net is a web monitoring software that sends alerts when the server is down and offers feedback on performance and functionality. Their website claims Apple, Amazon, and Google among others, as customers. I'm guessing rum-collector is the name of the server BL was running through (I love some of the names people use for servers, lol). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pingdom

Perhaps BL is either using both CloudFlare and Pingdom, or comparing the two to see which is better?
(EDIT: pingdom.net is actually run through cloudflare's name servers so they may be affiliated with each other.)

Either way VERY encouraging to see that they are taking active steps to improve performance and downtime.
