Hi, I'm Elizabeth, your administrator. I love contemporary romance of all kinds and look forward to discussing them with you. I am a sucker for real angst followed by a happy ending and for comedy. And if there is a cute cat or dog in the book that makes it even better. When I'm not reading, I am usually painting or playing with my two kitties.

This is a very lightly moderated group. In case of disputes, I will generally point all parties towards Rule No. 1. However, I have zero tolerance for self-promo. Don't do it. I might give you a warning the first time if you are new. But there will never be a second warning.

Please feel free to jump in and start and contribute to discussions. And please introduce yourself and tell us a bit about you.
Hi, I'm Heidi. I love contemporary romance, though I read many genres. I am a sucker for a good friends-to-lovers trope. I want ROMANCE to be front and center in my romance, so I read romantic suspense, paranormals, and urban fantasy sparingly, because often the mystery-building and/or world-building distracts from the relationship-building. I enjoy all heat levels right up to serious, hardcore kink, but I don't truck with nonconsent/dubious consent, and in my reviews I don't hide rape with spoiler warnings because I think people deserve trigger warnings. Oops, here I am on a soapbox -- I didn't mean to do that! Nice to meet you all!
Welcome, Danielle and Clio. Thank you for joining and jumping in with discussions. I also read m/f, m/m and menage, as long as the relationship works.

I agree that PNR and RS can be problematic. I read both, but I hate it when either the romance plot or the suspense/fantasy plot suffers. I think the right balance between the two is very hard to achieve. But when an author gets it right and the two plots support each other, I'm a very happy reader.

A little soapboxing is fine here. I like a lively discussion and I think we all have our soapbox issues we like to discuss. As long as it doesn't veer off topic and everyone remembers Rule No. 1, I don't have a problem with it.
Hi, my name is Tiia. I read this and that, but always seem to go back to chick lit/romance/smut. I read mostly on my Kindle (hah, I moved from GR to here because of all the you-know-what fuss with policy). I like to try indie books and I love freebies. I live in Finland and books are expensive here and not a lot of variety either, can't find books in English often - so Kindle.
I don't write reviews that often, can't find the time somehow, but if you wanna know what I thought about a book, you can ask (haven't transfered my GR books yet, I should get to that)
Hi, I'm Jenny. I read pretty much all sub-genres of romance. I've really only been reading contemporary romances for the past two years or so, prior to that everything was either paranormal or historical. I absolutely adore humor in the books I read. I tend to shy away from anything super angsty unless it comes highly recommended from someone I trust. I look forward to chatting with everyone!
Hi, I'm Marie.
I love contemporary romance, though I read many genres. I love books with romance that is well developed and not rushed.
Welcome Tiia, Nia, Jenny and Marie and everyone else who has joined!
Hello! I am Margaret, an Advertising and Marketing Rep for InD'tale Magazine. Love contemporary and anything that falls into the chick lit category as well. Still quite new to the erotica genre but have read a few that were fantastic. Glad to b a part of the group!
Welcome, Margaret!
Welcome, Brain! Do you want to be called Brain?

And welcome everyone else who has joined us!
Hi, I'm Jonetta or Ejaygirl and I've been on a contemporary romance kick for over a year now. I read lots of other genres (mystery/suspense, contemporary fiction, and all other romance sub genres) but have been stuck here because of so many new titles and authors being introduced.
Welcome, Jonetta! There are a lot of great contemporary romances to read. I o my started a few years ago and I feel like I have a huge backlog of books to read. Not that I'm complaining! :)
We have quite a few new members. I would like to welcome you all and thank you for joining. Lurkers are warmly accepted here and always will be. However, I hope everyone also feels free to and encouraged to join in the discussion. Anyone can start new threads, whether you are looking for recs for a certain type of contemporary romance or want to discuss themes or styles of writing or who is the sexiest hero or even if you just want to rant or rave about a series or a particular book. The only thing forbidden is self-promotion.

If any of you are interested in starting a group read or a challenge, that would also be great.

I am looking forward to getting to know you and discussing contemporary romance with you.
