With the exception of movies identified specifically during in-class lecture, I have not been able to stumble across any performance art that imposed an influence on Russian performance art which came directly from America — or any country. The only specific influence brought into Russia from an outside source, based upon my research, have included ballet; leadership of the nation had invited French and Italian Ballet proficionados (experts) into the country to bless the Russian culture with what the current leader (of “Mother Russia”) perceived was not only enjoyable but necessary to have conveniently accessible for viewing entertainment. Regardless of the level of selfishness in the choice, ballet coming to Russia has allowed the country to earn the reputation of bafflingly exceptional talent after generations of perfecting the art.
