Gray Moon Rising (Seasons of the Moon #4) by S.M. Reine
Gray Moon Rising - S.M. Reine
LOVED THIS SERIES!!!! Yes, they are aimed at Young Adult and No, I'm not. That did not stop my enjoyment of them one iota. This book has everything that you could wish for in the final book in a series and enough left to keep you wanting more. Luckily for me, there is more, which I'm just about to go and get!

SM Reine has kept the quality and entertainment going throughout the four books and the character development has been a wonder to read. The plot is fast-paced and edgy.

Definitely recommended to one and all, not just YAs, especially as you can now get this as a box set too.

Review of Dark Moon Rising By James M Thompson
Dark Moon Rising - James M. Thompson

I’ll start off by saying the ideas and imagination gone into the plot of this book is incredibly creative. But the book could have been so much better.

The part I did love about the story was how creative the whole idea was. Instead of it being the classic bitten by a werewolf or animal horror, James M Thompson has taken on a completely different approach and gone with a mixture psychopathic surgeons and power greedy military generals that’s created a gripping story.

I found myself being fascinated by the enhanced soldiers, particularly the sergeant Jack Stone. He had been operated on my Dr Stern making him stronger, faster and his senses more animal like. He was extremely arrogant but that made me like him more, I also liked the fact he was a mysterious character in the beginning but he becomes more confident as the story goes on. At the beginning I found the main character Jim Wilcox to be annoying but after the operation it’s hard not to like him. You also can’t deny how cool the guy is after surgery!

One of the problems I had with book was the amount of sex. The first 30% of the book was nonstop sex. It got to the point where I honestly thought the story was going nowhere and was starting to sound like fifty shades of grey. But I would recommend readers stick with it because it does start to pick up in the last quarter and becomes the fast paced horror/thriller that was described and originally drew me in.

Overall I wasn’t crazy about this book but I did enjoy it towards the end. The book could have been so much better if it got straight into the thriller/horror side of it from the start and left most of the unnecessary romance bullshit out. For readers that enjoy science/medical horror with a combo of fantasy this book is a good read

Sailor Moon binge
Sailor Moon the Novels: A Scout Is Born - Stuart J. Levy,Naoko Takeuchi
Power of Love - Stuart J. Levy,Lianne Sentar
Mercury Rising (Sailor Moon) - Lianne Sentar,Naoko Takeuchi
Sailor Moon the Novels: Mars Attacks - Stuart J. Levy,Naoko Takeuchi,Lianne Sentar
Scouts on Film - Naoko Takeuchi,Lianne Sentar
Eternal Sleep - Naoko Takeuchi,Lianne Sentar
Cel Mates: 7 (Sailor Moon the Novel) - Naoko Takeuchi;Lianne Sentar
Diamond's Not Forever - Naoko Takeuchi,Lianne Sentar

I'm behind in my challenge this year from all the illness. So, I'm sort of cheating and knocking out these Sailor Moon books. Each book has 3 "episodes". They are pretty decent for being junior novels. The second one had a few grammatical errors, but other than that, they seem true to the comics. Very 90s. But cool. They are making some references that make me cringe, like Furby and CK and Hilfiger. Wow. Blast from the past.

Conclusion to the Pine Deep trilogy
Bad Moon Rising (A Pine Deep Novel) - Jonathan Maberry It has been so long since I've been able to post a review. Between being busy and Booklikes being down... Oh well. I guess a few will be pretty short. I loved this series. It was creepy and scary and twisty. Another gem from Jonathan Maberry. Highly recommended.

Full Moon Rising - Keri Arthur
One of the best urban fantasy books I’ve read. Gets straight into the action with effortless world building despite being the first in a series.
There’s a lot of sex and sexual situations throughout the book but amazingly it doesn’t get in the way of the story. The sexy times work alongside everything to progress the plot, which is hard to do!

The mix of science fiction and fantasy, which I don’t usually like, works really well here. At no point did the science stuff make the werewolf stuff seem silly and vice versa.

Riley is an absolutely brilliant character. She’s a fighter without having to prove how tough she is (happens a bit too much in UF/PNR). She’s somewhat of a moral libertine but that seems to be the mindset of the werewolves here. Either way, it’s great to read about a woman that doesn’t act like casual sex with someone she’s attracted to will make her a bad person.

Great start to a series, I’ll definitely continue it.
