HAT by Renee Paule, illustrated by GR Hewitt
Hat - Renée Paule,G R Hewitt

HAT

written by Renee Paule

illustrated by G R Hewitt

Paperback, 36 pages

Published May 2018 by RPG Publishing

099350986X (ISBN13: 9780993509865)

The colors that G R Hewitt used in the illustrations is great. A lot of colors, more muted rather than overly stimulating bright.

Paule describes each hat with shorter and longer words, which makes it a wonderful book to help young readers to learn some "big" vocabulary words, without making it feel like work. I really enjoyed the book, and the little comprehension test that she includes at the end.

THE CROWNS OF CROSWALD BY D.E. Night
The Crowns of Croswald - D.E. Night

The Crowns of Croswald

D.E. Night

Paperback
Published July 21st 2017 by Stories Untold
ISBN13 9780996948654
also on Kindle

The Crowns of Croswald is D.E. Night's debut YA novel.   Different enough from Harry Potter (no muggles, a female lead (YAY!), dragons, and more), D.E. Night brings a creative storyline with Ivy as the main character who likes to daydream to get away from her scullery maid job. Night's writing kept the plotline interesting and moving at a fast pace. 1 or 2 things gave me an inkling of what might be coming but I won't give those away here; but other than that, I found the events that Ivy got into to be suspenseful,  while potentially causing chaos for her. The story ended well, and left a want for more.

Portrait of Margaret Tate, Mistress of Montpelier, a Plantation: Widow and Relic of William Theophilus Powell

Carolyn E. Hood-Kourdache

Paperback, 92 pages
Published June 22nd 2016 by Tree Rings Publishing, LLC

ISBN:   069274892X (ISBN 13 9780692748923)

While I found this to be more of a textbook read, I did enjoy it. A great amount of research went into this and shows a side of history that needs to be told. A woman considered a "Chocktaw mixed-blood"and someone who freed black slaves is an important part of American history (escpecially for Floridians) that needs to be told and included in the school books. Technically written for adults, the format could easily be read and understood by high school grades. A wonderful bibliography/source list is included.

JOE DEVLIN AND THE NEW STAR FIGHTER (JOE DEVLIN #1) by James R. Thomas
Joe Devlin And The New Star Fighter - James R. Thomas

JOE DEVLIN AND THE NEW STAR FIGHTER (JOE DEVLIN #1)

James R. Thomas

Paperback, 1, 96 pages
Published September 30th 2012 by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
ISBN:
1470101688 (ISBN13: 9781470101688)

This is the first of the Joe Devlin series. I thought it was a good read, especially for someone who may be interested in military and/or sci-fi. I liked the main character, Joe, but felt some of the minor characters were not so well developed. This may be because it is the first in the series. I would definitely recommend this to kids my nephews age (10/11 years old).

A must read !
Ines' Words - Haidji

"Time does not kill.

What kills feelings

is

Indifference, or fear."

An otherworldly elegant and inspiring love story.

It is very difficult to describe this story. So I will not attempt to do so. What I can say about it is that if you will enjoy it, you will not read it just once. You will pick up this book tomorrow and next week and read it again. For each time you do so, those melodiously written words will fill you with optimism and positive emotions and they will inspire you and give you hope.

I consider myself incredibly lucky to read such inspiring works one after the other. My previous review was also written in sheer positiveness and now again I cannot do anything else but praise the author and read the book yet again for the lyricism and love that is felt on every page make me - happy. That is how I can describe it in the simplest way possible.

Love story that transcends time and is enveloped in beautiful music that I urge you to listen as you read the story and encounter those works on different pages will send shivers down your spine.

The author is a creative and inspiring soul who knows how to lift our spirits up and make us believe that anything is possible. Not just that, but many messages you will encounter are simply timeless and worthy of noting down and reminding yourself every once in a while of those truthful words.

"If I knew what to say

I would tell you

Everything I want

If I knew what to do

I would do for you everything it takes

If I knew how to love

I would love only you

For an eternal moment"

I highly recommend this short story. It has touched my heart and moved my soul. So simple and elegant. So different and inspiring.

I am looking forward to reading another book by Haidji called Suicide Game. I have no doubt that I will enjoy it and I will share my thoughts on it with all of you when the time comes.
