Review: Hitched by Britni Hill
Hitched - Britni Hill

This is a lovely conclusion to the Western Palm series. We get to revisit life with all of our favorite characters as they embark on the next phase of their lives. Marriage, babies, jobs, etc. Such a fitting conclusion to these friends stories. Make sure you catch up on the rest of the series before starting this one of course!

Cover Reveal - Taking A Gamble

Title: Taking a Gamble

Author: Britni Hill

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: June 6, 2017

Hosted by: Buoni Amici Press, LLC.

Taking a Gamble is a flirty and funny romantic comedy about what happens when your life takes a turn and your best friend’s twin starts hitting on you.

Who knew a weekend in Vegas could change everything about your life?

Not me. I went to there to get married.

Kind of.

That was the plan. Until it wasn’t anymore.

I had the perfect dress, an awesome venue, and my closest friends with me.

What was missing?

My groom. That’s right. He bailed.

It’s all going to be okay. Some things are just meant to be. What better city than Vegas to leave it to chance?

Maybe that’s how I woke up as Gabby Thomas and went to bed Mrs. Brennan …

Special Preorder price $0.99

Britni Hill is a new adult and contemporary romance author. She spends her days as a hair stylist, and her nights with the characters in her head striving to write real, page turning romance.

Britni lives in Indiana where she was born and raised. She has a rescue pup she adores and an unhealthy love of binge-watching cheesy, teenage dramas. If she isn’t writing, she’s reading or watching horror flicks.

Hushed by Britni Hill
Hushed - Britni Hill

Sometimes I forget my coffee at home and post reviews on the wrong book. Oopsie!

I happened to win a copy of Revealed, the second book in this series, via a Facebook contest. So, of course I had to read Hushed first and I am glad that I did. Not only does Britni Hill create a great atmosphere, her settings made me feel right at home. Like I was sitting there having a beer with the characters. I would say my biggest frustration is that I never really connected with Tess as a character. Tess seemed intent on avoiding the "bad boys" because her ex-boyfriend treated her poorly, but ends up dating a jerk (Jason) anyway. Nothing from there on out surprised me.

From the very beginning of the novel, I loved the tension between Tess and Blake. Their first kiss was swoon-worthy, so it kind of bothered me that we immediately jump to Tess dating/breaking up with Jason. When you have that kind of instant spark with someone it seems silly to brush it off, and even more strange to date the stepbrother. While I was glad we didn't have to read a lot about the Jason/Tess relationship, I did like Blake's character a lot which is what saved this book for me. The tension that builds over spring break due to their interesting sleeping arrangements was a lot of fun to read. As with most romance, there is always that fatal flaw in the relationship that needs to get resolved and the author does a good job with that without it being overly dramatic.

All in all, I enjoyed the start of the Western Palm series and will definitely read the next installment if only to learn more about the other characters in the series.

Revealed by Britni Hill
Revealed (Western Palm) - Britni Hill

Recommended for 17+ due to language and sexual situations.

Angry and jealous. That’s the perfect way to describe Jason Parker. After feeling that way for so long, Jason’s had enough. He’s starting to hate who he's become and his perfect facade is cracking. Jason’s blaming everyone but himself, he’s lashing out and the only thing that matters is numbing his own pain, doubt, and guilt.

In the aftermath of betraying his step-brother, again, Jason slowly begins to see that no one is perfect and you can’t be alone. He’s pushed his family away and used people, mostly women, to make himself feel better. If people let him walk all over them, why shouldn’t he? That’s always been his attitude but maybe it’s not right.
When his step-brother’s ex-girlfriend shows up, Jason can't deny the pull he feels toward her. His one steamy night with her as a teenager pushed him toward the downward spiral he’s been on. He knows he should keep his distance. But he can’t seem to stay away from the pretty brunette.

Corinne's changed since they were seventeen. She's no longer the spoiled brat out to be arm candy like her mother taught her. She sees something in Jason. Something he desperately wants to believe is real. When she pushes him to be better, he falls for her. His feelings for her are strong and he can’t ignore them forever. Once he gives in he gives it his all. He can only hope everyone is ready to see the real Jason Parker.

Anger, betrayal, jealousy, and love. Jason and Corinne are only letting one shine through.

We all know that guy, the one that is a jerk just because he can be. Well in Hushed, that was the Jason Parker we knew. Revealed is his story and I really enjoyed getting to know his side of things.

The college setting, the parties, and the drama all keep the story moving as you get to know Jason and Corinne's story. While their relationship was surrounded by the drama from their past, they found solace in each other which engaged me. I like characters that have flaws to overcome and can grow throughout a story.

Without giving too much away, I have to say their Valentine's day is what made me fall in love with Jason. College is a learning experience, and not just in the classroom. Jason realizes that he's been a jerk for as long as he can remember and works hard to change that. The betrayal and tumultuous relationship between Jason and Blake gave this story even more depth. I always love a good redemption story, but I'm glad that it wasn't all puppies and rainbows for him.  Real forgiveness takes time and effort, and I'm glad that was part of the Blake and Jason relationship.
