Almost perfect story!
Star Trek Legion of Super-Heroes - Philip Moy,Chris Roberson,Jeffrey Moy

There are very, very minor complaints: the art, while mostly gorgeous, made some character looks like bobble heads at some points.   Furthermore there were a couple of pages of what felt like strained exposition at one point.   Given how perfect the rest of this storyline is, fitting into what little I know about the DC aspects, and fitting in perfectly with the Star Trek aspects, though, I almost didn't even knock off half a star.   These issues bugged me enough to do that, but I have nothing but praise for this storyline.

The references - the ones that aren't made clear from the cover, with the Legion of Super Heroes and original Trek cast - are clever, fit in with the respective canons, and don't feel shoehorned to make this story work.  No, the story was created around aspects of these two universes that seemed bound to converge, especially after this practically flawless story!

I can't give away much at all without spoiling anything.   So I'll say I found everyone - all the ones I knew - delightfully in character, and I thought all the nods to the Star Trek universe simply charming.   I wouldn't have bought this if it hadn't been provided in the Humble Bundle, but, boy, am I glad it was!

Reading progress update: I've read 126 out of 158 pages.
Star Trek Legion of Super-Heroes - Philip Moy,Chris Roberson,Jeffrey Moy

As much as I love reading, too much can tire me out.  I think when I read, and mental exhaustion can be just as draining, if not more draining, than physical exhaustion for me.

I'm going to nap this off, and then continue on this.   Right now, I'm going to try to bounce between the Star Trek and Michael Turner Humble Bundles and try to finish off those completely.   I've decided I need to finish five books of anything - physical, Kindle, Comixology - before I buy one more.

I've also decided I needed to finish 2 Humble Bundles completely before I indulge in another, just to try and get my ass moving on this all.  I'll be keeping lists. These can stack: ten books equals another two.

Also, weekly comics?   Won't count.  I buy them and read them immediately, and these won't count towards my Comixology reads/buys since I get free Comixology copies.

Primus, the exposition and forced 'we're alike' speeches that are partially forced because they take up so much time and so many pages :/

Ah, so this is Mirror-verse, then?   Go figure, it's right after I got sucked into the TNG Mirror-verse comics!

I must say I'm quite pleased, because I was hoping for more Mirror-verse.

Myriad Universes #2
Star Trek: Myriad Universes #2: Echoes and Refractions (Bk. 2) - Keith R.A. DeCandido,Geoff Trowbridge,Chris Roberson

I was mostly unfamiliar with Andorians except beyond knowing they were blue, hairy, and had antennae. The Chimes at Midnight by Geoff Trowbridge gave a most thorough background into this alien race. The reader follows two separate characters: Thelin (an Andorian) and David Marcus (James T. Kirk's estranged son). Thelin is Kirk's closest friend and First Officer of the Enterprise. David is a scientist who creates the Genesis Project in the hopes of making uninhabitable worlds fertile and livable for those looking to colonize new areas of space. When the secret of this innovation is leaked to the Klingons war is threatened. (Note: There's a rather explicit scene of torture in this book so if you're squeamish be aware.) Most troubling of all in this universe, Spock never lived beyond childhood. :'-(  7/10

War, war, war. A Gutted World by Keith R.A. DeCandido is chock full of violence and destruction as war rages across the galaxy. The Cardassians still occupy Terok Nor (DS9 reference for the uninitiated) and the Klingons and Romulans are at each other's throats. The Federation is pulled into the fray and devastating losses are piling up on all sides. Kira Nerys with the aid of Garak and Odo are trying to convince the Federation that all is not as it seems. I don't want to give too much away because it's pretty spoiler-y for Deep Space Nine even though it's an alternate reality timeline. 7/10

Brave New World written by Chris Roberson was absolutely brilliant. In this iteration, Data is not the only Soong-type android in existence. In fact, he's one of the earliest of many. When the Federation decides to limit their rights to full citizenship Data and many of his fellows resign their Starfleet commissions and drop off of the grid entirely. The story picks up 10 years later when Data inexplicably returns with a request for assistance from the Enterprise. Many familiar faces are still onboard including Chief Engineer Wesley Crusher and First Officer Geordi La Forge. (They've also perfected brain uploads in this universe which is frankly terrifying.) I so badly want to tell you the big shocker of this book but that would really kill it for you. Just read it! 10/10
