Crown Of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
Crown of Midnight - Sarah J. Maas

Oh my goodness!! What an ending!!!! I'm literally heading straight to Amazon to buy book 3 after writing this. Just saying... I'm fascinated by Celaena. I'm fascinated by who she is and who she becomes. I'm fascinated by the men who love her. I'm totally rapt. This book moves so quickly. Adventure after adventure. Between the characters and the plot of the story, this series is a favorite of mine. It has all the elements I look for in a good fantasy series. Yes, in the first book I wanted more butt-kicking and she gave me that and more with this book! I definitely don't want to tell you too much, that's what the synopsis is for. I will say that you definitely need to read this series. IT is the best of her books in my opinion.

Pretty Creepy towards the end of the book!!!!!
Crown of Midnight - Sarah J. Maas

I really loved this one a lot more than the first in the series, even though I did like the first one. I am still trying to decide what character is my favorite, if I choose right now that individual would have to be Dorian. I felt really bad for him, in regards for his feelings for Celaena. And also because Celaena and Chaol, leaving him out of a lot of important information. But the biggest reason is what he finds out about himself, and what would happen if his father the king finds out about it.

Chaol I am kind of not sure about, I really loved him in the first book, but the second half of this book his really started to bother me.

Celaena I am not sure about either, her and Chaol's relationship is just all over the place in this book. One minute she loves him and the next minute she can't stands him and wants him died. I understand why she feels this way at first, but then she finds out something and she still acts the same way. I did know her secret before it was revealed and I still loved it because how it was revealed and by whom.

And the King I just can't stand, and what we find out in regards to what his trying to do, is so creepy and cray, cray!!!!!!!

I am now starting The Heir of Fire, and I really can't wait to find out, what's going to happen next. I really want to know what Dorian is going to do, and also what his father the king will do if he finds out about it.

Review: Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) by Sarah J. Maas
Crown of Midnight - Sarah J. Maas

"A line that should never be crossed is about to be breached.

It puts this entire castle in jeopardy—and the life of your friend."

From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.

Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.

Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena's world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie... and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.

If you have not read book one, this review may contain spoilers.

This book starts of pretty much where the last one ended. I really liked the last book but I must say I LOVED this book. I just loved it, everything about it was great.

The story telling, the world setting, the characters growth and arcs, the endless twist and turns and many shocking surprises.

This book gave me whiplash like hardly any book before. I went from laughing and swooning to be being shocked, heartbroken and sobbing like a fool. Just be be brought back to being shocked to the amazing and powerful ending of this book. While some of the things with Celaena I suspected other came as a complete surprise.

Too not spoil anything to those who have not read it I will not go into too much detail as always.

In this book we learn so much more about our major players in this series. Celaena, Dorian, Chaol, Nehemia but also a lot more about the king and his motives.

We also get to meet some new people. Some are nice, others not so much.

There is still a love triangle but I must say I did not mind it as it fit and actually some things made sense.

We learn so much more of Celaena, her past her future plans and so much more. As mentioned about I had some idea what was about to come for her but some things were a surprise. But really it made sense. We get to see her at her best and maybe even happy, but we also get to see her at her worse and see why she is Adarlan's most feared assassin.

Dorian surprised me in this book, in more than one way. I actually thought he was great and reacted fairly well to certain ‘news”. There is more to Dorian than believed in book one.

The same goes for Chaol. I also liked him and he also surprised me with some reactions he had. Also some new and interesting facts come to light about him and it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Nehemia, also plays a huge part in this book again and some new and very shocking are revealed about her. I love the friendship her and Celaena have.

Some people from Celaena’s past that shake things up and also give us a closer look at her past and the life she lived.  We also meet some new people on the Kings site.

Overall. I cannot say enough how much I loved this book and everything about it. Even when it pulled me off cloud nine so I could have had my heart ripped out and slowly trampled on and after that just sitting there in awe.

If I could give it a ten star rating I would but as my rating only goes to 5, a 5 ★ it is.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“I can't tell if I should be ashamed of wanting to hold you on this day, or grateful that, despite what happened before now, it somehow brought me to you.”

***

“I worry because I care. Gods help me, I know I shouldn't, but I do. So I will always tell you to be careful, because I will always care what happens.”

***

“Who said anything about shame?" She gestured down to her naked body, even though it was covered by the blanket. "Honestly, I'm surprised you're not strutting about, boasting to everyone. I certainly would be if I'd tumbled me.

"Does your love for yourself know no bounds?"

"Absolutely none.”

***

“Then Celaena and the King of Adarlan smiled at each other, and it was the most terrifying thing Dorian had ever seen.”

***

“If they wanted Adarlan's Assassin, they'd get her.

And Wyrd help them when she arrived.”

***

“But he had no idea what sort of darkness lurked inside her, or what sort of monster she was willing to become in order to make things right.”

***

#46 - Crown of Midnight by Sarah J Maas (re-read)
Crown of Midnight - Sarah J. Maas

This was my first Free Friday read and I got 6$ for it, yay!

Bank: 87$

This is my second time reading this book and I liked it as much as the first time. There were so many details I forgot, I'm so happy I re-read it. In this book, there are way more hints about how Celaena really is and I don't understand how I did not get it the first time reading it. It seems obivous now (well, of course, I know the answer so it helps...).

Celaena has some annoying reactions but she is in pain so that is understandable. We get to know her a bit more but we still don't have a lot of information about her past. Her relationship with Dorian is evolving and I love what they are sharing, I know it will get even better later on so I'm excited. I still don't ship Celaena and Chaol, like at all.

So many details about the Witches as well and I need to read Heir of Fire now! The witches storyline is one of my favourite in the entire series. I can't wait for Celaena and Manon to meet...

Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass Series #2) - Sarah J. Maas

4.5 I want to kill the MC stars ! Oh she was such a bloody thorn, nasty words, viscous reactions, and heartless dumping. Oh I suffered, my poor heart broke and then broke some more. Ms. Maas is a wicked beast ! I had a seriously messed up night of sleep, whiplashed heart, book hangover. oh I'm a suffering reader here. I don't even drink alcohol but I'd suggest having a strong one at hand when reading or a warm puppy to cuddle to blues away.
I am taking a few days off this series to recover. Book 3 is loaded and waiting. Be gentle with me Ms. Maas. I am a fragile beastie :D
