Book Review - Dark Touch, by Elle Lewis
Dark Touch (Glass Star Trilogy #1) - Elle Lewis

The way I see it, Dark Touch fits perfectly into the paranormal and urban fantasy genre. What I liked most about it, apart from being my favorite genre, was its original mythology. The market is saturated with stories about vampires, werewolves, and witches (which I love and write about it, too). Therefore, a story that brings in new supernatural creatures is like a breath of fresh air!

Dark Touch is not epic fantasy, so don’t expect intricate world-building, just enough for the plot to make sense. The characters, on the other hand, are intriguing and the fast pace of the story is engaging till the last page. By the way, if you’re planning to read it, arm yourself with patience, because it ends with a cliff hanger! But you’ll get some sort of closure, so it’s not that bad, just leaves you wanting for more!

Sloan, the main character is touched by a supernatural creature and is supposed to die instantly. When she doesn’t, she attracts the attention of both the being who tried to kill her and others who want to protect her. A tug-of-war ensues. Sloan finds herself hunted both in the real world and in her dreams.

Touch the Dark
Touch the Dark - Karen Chance,Cynthia Holloway IIIII don't know. I liked parts of the book and then I didn't at the same time. I have heard that a lot of people have problems with Cassie.. and I didn't. I actually kinda liked her for the most part. The men were fine. Nothing spectacular and there wasn't really one singular love interest. There was an almost love scene one time. But the way it was written makes it seem like Cassie was turned on but didn't want it... So to me it was just weird. He was trading touches for answers for her questions. Thats messed up. Wasn't a fan of that at all. I like to have a set love interest.

The one thing that was driving me crazy though out the book was the freaking random details about information right in the middle of something else. I know that it is the first book of a series and there is going to be a lot of information that needs to be told so I kind of overlooked it at first but it just kept happening. I would get into a scene and then there would be 10 mins of her explaining why she felt so betrayed by Tomas or how the Mage's magic worked.

Not gonna lie, I got quite confused a lot in this book. There is a shit ton of everything in here. Vamps, witch, dark mages, light mages, were rats, werewolves, ghost, time traveling, possession. It was just a lot for my little brain. Especially when she started jumping bodies to time travel. Ive already read most of the second book at work and I can say that it just gets more confusing. My brain may not be able to handle this series.

Reading progress update: I've read 226 out of 307 pages.
Touch the Dark - Karen Chance

'I was willing to bet that my sexual experience gave their pure-as-the-driven-snow sybil a run for her money, although not for the same reasons.Eugenie had guarded me like a hawk, and when I wasn't with her, I was running for my life. I'd never trusted anyone enough to get that close. It also helped that most of the vamps at Tony's had rivaled Alphonse in the looks department, and that they'd been warned off me anyway. The most temptation I'd experienced had been with Tomas, the Senate's spy who had been feeding off me without permission, and Mircea, who was probably plotting some nefarious scheme. I have no taste in men.'

hahaha. gotta love Cassie

I'd forgotten how funny Chance could be and why this was my favorite series for so many years. ahh Mircea and Pritkin you funny buggers.

'Mircea was regarding him [Pritkin] the way a good housewife looks at a bug crawling across her newly cleaned kitchen floor.'

it's even funnier because i now know their personalities so well, i've read these books so many times (though not for at least a yr or so now) re-reading this series again (for the 5th? time now was the best idea - i use to re-read the books every time a new one came out, I'm currently two behind)
