So.. May wasn't a great reading month, but that was because of finals. Most of the books I read during the last week of May. These are the books I've read:
- Yes Please by Amy Poehler (on audiobook) 4/5 review
- The Queen (The Selection #0.4) by Kiera Cass (novella) 4/5
- Deception Point by Dan Brown 5/5 review
- It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini 5/5 review
- Legacy Lost (Serena Legacy #0.5) by Anna Banks (novella) 3/5
I've read Deception Point during the first three weeks of May and finisht in in the last week. I also started Animal Farm by George Orwell last night and at chapter 7 out of 10, but that will be in my June wrap-up. My review of the novellas will be up when I've read the entire series.
What have you read in May?
Summary:
When a new NASA satellite detects evidence of an astonishingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory...a victory that has profound implications for U.S. space policy and the impending presidential election.
With the Oval Office in the balance, the President dispatches White House Intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton to the Arctic to verify the authenticity of the find. Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic academic Michael Tolland, Rachel uncovers the unthinkable - evidence of scientific trickery - a bold deception that threatens to plunge the world into controversy...
My review:
So.. it took me 24 days to read this book. 24 days!! I really loved it though and it was a perfect book for me, but I had to study and jadieda.
The storyline was super awesome, it was fast paced and it's unique. I love everything about meteorites, space and etc. and there wasn't that much romance in it as well. If you're a boy/man you can read this book as well (I actually haven't seen many girls/women reading this one. Girls/women: hello?!).
This might be a short review but I only have one thing to say: READ IT! I'm sure I'm going to re-read it a few times in my life, so that says enough. :)
I bought some books! I got one in the mail I think about two weeks ago and I bought the rest yesterday at a local ''bookoutlet'' thing. It isn't exactly bookoutlet, but I got new books for around $2,50!
1. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Nawthorne link
2. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens link
3. Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë link
4. Digital Fortress by Dan Brown link
5. Angels and Demons by Dan Brown link
6. Deception Point by Dan Brown link
7. The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown link
The Scarlet Letter is in the beautiful Barnes and Noble leatherbound edition. If you'd like to see pictures inside please let me know! That one was around $11. The rest I bought at the bookoutlet. It's sad they didn't have the other classics like they always have, or Emma or Jane Eyre in that edition but there's also a bookoutlet in February so I'm hoping they have them then! In my last bookhaul (link) you saw I already own a copy of Wuthering Heights, but I got rid of that one. My friend wanted to have a copy so she bought it from me!
I've never read any book by Dan Brown (yes I've seen the movie of The Da Vinci Code, don't worry haha!) and I didn't own any of them so it was about time! I absolutely love these covers.
I'm not going to buy any more books because my birthday is in December and then there is Christmas as well. If you'd like to send me a book, please send an email to itsabooksworld.booklikes@gmail.com because I'm not going to show my wishlist/address in public.
What books have you recently bought?
Well, that certainly was a deception.
Someone recommended me this book, saying how good and thrilling it was. Every time she tries to convince me to read a certain book now, I'm instantaneously suspicious. Because I really didn't like this one.
It was very boring, for a start, and then -BIG surprise- conspiracies, shootings, life threatening situations, and oh, it's also extremely cold. For me this was Dan Brown's weakest book, it took me 2 attempts and quite some time to finish it.
Note: I read a Dutch translation of this book
