I was a winner!
The Wolven (Harlequin Nocturne, #101) - Deborah Leblanc

I remember seeing an email but I was so sick that week that I didn't read it. It turns out I was a winner for an e-copy of Deborah Leblanc's book The Wolven! Have a great week, everyone! =D

Taming the Demon
Taming the Demon (Harlequin Nocturne) - Doranna Durgin

Devin has a demon blade.  This blade is like a sentient being.  It hungers for chaos, so Devin uses it in a productive way and helps people in trouble.  Natalie is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or is she?  Devin uses it to dispatch her would-be assailants.

I liked that Natalie's background was questionable.  I liked that she was doing better. She's got some attitude (but not enough that she was a bitch/unlikable).  I did think she should have caught on sooner then she did.  Both she and Devin work together nicely.  I also liked the end.

Her Werewolf Hero (Beautiful Creatures) Michele Hauf review
Her Werewolf Hero (Harlequin Nocturne) - Michele Hauf

Retriever Bron Everhart had no idea that his easy “find and seize” mission would be complicated by his need to protect Kizzy Lewis who has just became a target for any other who desires the purgatory heart in this exciting paranormal romance. The Beautiful Creatures world always fascinates for me because Michele Hauf has her own creative flair that she imbues into her characters and the stories are full of intriguing creatures that I can’t get enough of. Bron and Kizzy’s story is quite different with some disturbing events that really adds a bit of a dramatic bent to the story that I sure didn’t see coming but it’s what the story calls far so it’s all good.

4 STARS

No
Siren's Secret - Debbie Herbert

Well, the premise was interesting, the plot promising. The characters though…

Lessee… first off, did you know collecting insects makes you a potential killer? No; neither did I. I mean; I don't have massive collections of pinned butterflies or anything but neither would I think anything of someone else having them. Also find the fact that the crazy guy has a dog who he's very fond of interesting.

Then there's… the 26 year old brother of the H - he has autism. And…apparently is incapable of functioning on his own. In any fashion. See, I would understand his behavior if he were say, 6. At some point… Let's just say that my nearly 26 year old autistic son doesn't wig out and bang his head over little things.

The mother. As many women out there who're managing with all manner of disabled offspring, this one crawls into a bottle -and it's ok? Right. I feel insulted.

The h - doofus. She finds a body, fumbles around with it to such an extent that I don't know what she was actually trying to do with it, and hangs around long enough for the nut job to see what she is and throw a knife at her. D'oh. Dive stupid!

The H - jerk. Invites her on a date, spends at least half the time answering his phone, goes to her house, sees rare coins lying around, takes pictures of them, and runs a background check as well as looking the items up on the web. Also, *after* he knows what she and her cousins are, threatens them with requesting DNA samples to see how involved they are in the murder.

And h is… well, let's put it this way, he apologizes and she just… Ok, let's start over. Uh. No. Sorry dude; you investigate my family because you saw a sparkly on my coffee table *and* you threaten to insist on DNA samples when anyone with a brain would realize that would land me in a hidden lab somewhere…

I hear voices...
Sentinels: Lynx Destiny - Doranna Durgin

It took me most of the book to realize who Kai reminds me of - Jamie of Lori Foster fame. He's a loner who nobody really understands but everyone is protective - they warned the h off, or tried to. He always seems to show up when he's needed, and… well… Yeah.

The h hears voices. Well, actually, she hears the land. As the H says, her mother is why the Sentinels try their darnedest not to leave fruit behind - just enough power to mess with her head, not enough to really understand why. The h's mother was thought nuts and sent away. She eventually died. I got the feeling that she didn't necessarily consider herself to be nuts, but others convinced her (or was that convicted).

Of course there is the Core messing with things. In some ways, it pushes the H/h together. In other ways, it causes the h to plan to leave. Funny thing - the Core is perfectly ok with using things on people, but they kinda freak out when the land reacts badly to their toys.
