Book Review
Forever Breathing - Heather Allen
SYNOPSIS:

Ever Harding has finally found where she belongs, with Jack in the sea. Just when she thought she could start her new life, a new threat forms on the horizon. She must make her biggest choice yet. Is she willing to risk everything to save the love of her life and all she holds dear? James discovers yet again that his purpose is greater than anything he could ever imagine. He thought he had it all figured out, but sometimes things can be very deceiving. Is he willing to stand up for all he believes is right? In the final book of the ‘Just Breathe’ trilogy, Ever and James find themselves not against each other but fighting together to preserve the freedoms of others. Will they be able to defend the right to choose when the odds are hugely against them?

REVIEW:

I loved this last book in her trilogy. I'm blissful that James has found his promised, which is Alody. Freaking hell, I've always hoped... since the second book that Alex and Ever will end up together. But anyone who have read this knows they didn't thanks Celia and Jack. i don't know wether to love that "promised" thing or loathe it. I hated how Roman easly killed his brother, Jaspen. And Sara, oooh I knew it, she can never do any good. I didn't like how the war went. I didn't like how it it ended as well. It was as if Roman did not actually put up a good fight, he was just struck by the trident's lighting (whatever you call it) and them boom!

Erebus won. I never saw how powerful Ever and James are. But still, I loved the book nonetheless, especially how Heather has managed to divide the role equally to the characters. I was amazed how Heather ended the book. Looking forward to Amber and Garrett's story! I recommend this boy to everyone who loves mermaids, who loves sea and who loves swoon worthy guys.

QUOTES:

"Yes Ever, I'm here. I will always be here. I will wait forever if that's what it takes." "He would be lost without you and I suspect you would be lost without him." "Sometimes we find things we don't even know we need and they become more important than anything else." "Can we survive without the guilt? Are we both at each other's mercy because we've caused so much pain to one another?"

Book...Haul...
Significance (A Significance Novel) - Shelly Crane
Cornerstone - Kelly Walker
Just Breathe - Heather Allen
A French Girl in New York - Anna Adams
Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card

I'm supposed to stop getting books, aren't I? College an ocean away doesn't sit well for hundreds of physical books.

BUT these were all free ebooks, with the except of EG--but it was only four dollars, and I pretty much couldn't say no to that.

Forever Breathing (Just Breathe Trilogy... Forever Breathing (Just Breathe Trilogy # 3) - Heather Allen Ever is still having her dreams, although they are a bit different now. So while trying to understand what they mean, she also has to come to terms that not everyone is happy with the battle that just took place. So with yet another battle looming, Ever and James must work together, to try and give back freedom to everyone under the sea. But sometimes freedom come with a price…and Ever realizes that that freedom isn’t cheap.

Ever is still wishy washy as ever in this one. One minute she is hating Alex and the next she wants what is best for him. I sometimes do not understand that girl. But I can’t help but love her character. I think her problem is she cares too deeply and trusts too easily. She knows it, and at times she will try to pull back…leading her to be wishy washy. And yes, even though she is wishy washy, she is defintely a strong character and will do great things.

Oh you caught that I mentioned Alex? Yeah, not going to go into that one. Just read and you’ll see what I mean. (Insert maniacal laugh here)

And James, poor, sweet James. I started really liking him in the last book. And I cannot believe how much he has grown since the start of the series. He has stepped up from the snot nose teenager he was in the beginning into someone that can lead a group into battle. I say that is one heck of a change, don’t you? And I just loved his part of the story. So much happens with him and it isn’t all good. Be warned…you will probably want to smack him around a bit before all is said and done.

Allen writes a phenomenal book that concludes the series. Even though I wasn't crazy over book 2, I knew that Allen would come back with vengeance and have me smiling and smitten with the how she ends the trilogy. And boy did she ever. The ending was fabulous and I am one smitten kitten. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Barely Breathing (Just Breathe) (Volume 2)
Barely Breathing - Heather Allen Would probably rate 3.5 stars...but I always round up when leaving my review on other sites.

Ever has learned that Jack has betrayed her and it seems that her decision to live in the sea has been for nothing. Now she has to learn to fight her brother in an impending war that really isn’t her battle to win. But since she made the choice to live in the sea and become a mermaid, she has to stick by her decision and help lead her people to victory. But is Ever making the right choice? Is her dreams telling her something bad is going to happen? And will she ever be able to pick up the pieces of her broken heart that Jack destroyed?

Ok gonna break it down about what I liked and disliked. Lets go with dislike first. I disliked that the first half of the book had hardly anything going on. There was some training, some bonding, and some new relationships. But that about sums it up. There really wasn't anything paramount that went on. Sure there was some small talk about the upcoming battle and how Ever can't stand even the mention of Jack's name, but really nothing big happens. So altogether the first half of the book was slow, kind of too slow.

One other thing I sort of disliked was the fact that the parents were a little too oblivious to what their children are up to. At least they took the initiative, kind of, this time around with James and acted like parents. But they seem a little off to me. I guess that is the mom in me talking.

Now, for the things I liked (and loved). I liked Alex but never got that feeling that he was truly meant for Ever. And I hated that I couldn't feel that way. But you can see that they obviously care for one another. He is such a great guy and has so much to offer her. Ever is just going to have to decide whether she wants to live with a broken heart or move on and learn to find love again. And it is not decision she will make lightly. She will tear herself up trying to decide what she wants and what she needs in her life.

James. Yes, I absolutely loved that he was such a big addition to the story. At first I wasn't crazy about him, but he grew on me and I enjoyed his scenes and POV. I enjoyed the relationship that him and Ever developed throughout the book and hated it too. Because in the end...there will be a battle and they will be fighting against each other. And it broke my heart to see them getting along so well knowing that the end inevitable.

The end is a whopper of cliff hanger. It definitely has you eager for the last book in the series, FOREVER BREATHING. And boy do I look forward to it and to finally see how the series will conclude. BARELY BREATHING was a good book, I just wasn't gaga over it. But I do recommend it to those who have read the first one. You will want to continue on and see how it all develops.

Just Breathe
Just Breathe - Heather Allen Ever has just been dumped. So the year her and Michael were to rule the school has been squashed the minute he says he wants a break. How could she know, in the midst of her depression, that her savior would be soon entering her life. From the moment Ever makes eye contact with Jack she is taken. Those gorgeous blue eyes do something to her and she loves the warm feelings he brings about when he smiles at her. But Jack is a bad boy with a police record. Her friends and brother want her to stay far away. Only thing is...she can't. She won't.

Days before her 18th birthday, Ever learns she will have to make a decision that will greatly impact her life: stay with her family on land or go live in the sea as a mermaid. The choice is one that is thrown upon her and she must make a decision quickly. But Jack and Gam-ah leave out crucial information that might have sealed the deal and helped with her choice. Since the choice has been made, Ever must make the best of it and just deal with it. It is not going to be easy, but Ever is bound and determined to be with the one she wants. Sea/Land laws be darned. Sheesh. What has she gotten herself into?

This would have been a rather quick read for me, but I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer last night when I went to finish the book. No. Definitely not the book or the author's fault. It was all on me. Because this book was so good and had my attention throughout. I like the author's writing style and it was easy to fall into. Such a good read. And since it is about mermaids I knew I would just adore it. There is just something about mermaid stories that I go crazy for.

I really liked Ever’s character in the story but her parents are a little odd for me. Or maybe I am a little jealous my parents weren’t like hers; barely batting an eye when she calls them after being gone missing several days. I think they would have been a bit more believable if they acted a bit…I don’t know…parental?

I liked where the story went and how the plot played out. I think with how it ended was the perfect way to lead into the next one. Readers are going to be a flabbergasted with the ending and will be itching to know what happens next. I know I am eagerly anticipating what happens to Ever, Jack, and James. So much could happen…so much could go wrong…and what about Alex? Hmmm??!! Guess we will just have to continue on in the series to find out.
