THE BLOOD KING BY: ABIGAIL OWEN
The Blood King - Abigail Owen

I've been eagerly awaiting this book since the minute I finished The Rogue King! While I thoroughly enjoyed it, I think Kasia stole the show in a lot of ways in the first book and Skylar was a bit more enigmatic and more standoffish in this one so it made it harder to connect. It also made the connection between Skylar and Landon a bit more fickle. The chemistry was there but there was less longing and more of them scrambling to push back apart from each other. It was kinda the opposite of what I felt in The Rogue King, I was more into Kasia and in The Blood King, Landon was the beacon for me. His role and his drive to protect and do right by his people was admirable and made him more accessible. Undoubtedly they make a good pair though. He clearly needed a strong match and Skylar was definitely that.

This sequel hit every other key perfectly for me. It enriched the already lavish world, the overall plot furthered, the dragon politics raged on, characters we've previously seen were expanded on, and we meet some new ones with sure to be interesting roles in the coming novels. I have to say I'm completely fascinated with Meira and what she has been up to. I'm hoping to see a bit more of the gargoyles she's been hanging around with in the next book! Also, very curious about the Black Clan dragons and how that'll all play out. Each addition to the series only makes me want more and more!

I received an arc of this book from Entangled: Amara via Netgalley and this is my honest review.

Inferno (The Talon Saga) - Julie Kagawa Inferno (The Talon Saga) - Julie Kagawa
I realize in this book how much I dislike Wes.
I really need you guys to know that. He's a bird.
The rest of the characters are amazing though. I feel like the whole story came together seamlessly in this book. All the action and adventure came to a head. An epic battles happened, and now all is well in their world again.
Ember is now where she is meant to me. With Garrett by her side, she really can face anything. Facing her brother Dante in this one was such a powerful moment. You literally have been waiting for this to happen for a couple of books now, so I was glad that moment did not disappoint.
I can't lie though, I still want more! I could read about these dragons all day long!
If you haven't read this series, get out of your cave and do it!

"Inferno", by Dan Brown
Inferno - Dan Brown

If you want some kind of escapism you will find it in “Inferno”, Dan Brown’s very modern threat which was inspired on The Divine Comedy (a long Italian narrative poem by Dante Alighieri). This thriller comes with a truckload of information and anecdotes of places. It is also overloaded with history and trivia. In order to enjoy passing time with this story, you will need to leave your beliefs behind and go with the flow. Don’t let the sheer size of the book intimidate you, once into it you may not want to put it aside.

The plot is jam-packed with tricks and opens with Robert, the tweedy symbologist in hospital with a case of amnesia that dulls his showy wits. Then, Mr. Browns begins with his crazily grandiose narrative with Robert’s beautiful doctor pulling him out of bed so they can race relentlessly through the streets of Florence.

The story is a sinister scheme involving overpopulation and a doomsday plot only Mr. Brown can pen. The story itself involves Transhumanism, genetic manipulation and pandemics. The effect is Dante’s nightmare….and a scavenger hunt to save most humans…. “Inferno” is written in a way that your mind makes assumptions about the story and the characters and throughout we are given ample opportunity to guess and judge but of course we are also proven wrong in the next scene.

The principal characters with important roles alongside Robert Langdon are Sienna Brooks, a doctor, who will help him find the virus Zobrist created, Bertrand Zobrist, a genius scientist who is obsessed with Dante’s Inferno, Elizabet Sinskey, the head of WHO, who hires Langdon to find Zobrist virus, the Provost, head of the Consortium, at first helps Zobrist in securing the virus then the WHO to find the deadly weapon and Vayentha, a Consortium agent, which mission is to follow Langdon. There are also more players with clever roles.

“Inferno” is pretty fast- fetched in many ways but if you do not look too close to details you should find this to be an interesting read.

New Release Review! Inferno (Bearpaw Ridge Firefighters #10) Ophelia Sexton!

Hello Readers! I am visiting Bearpaw Ridge today to help fight a forest fire and where two shifters are surprised by a mating bond. Enjoy and don't forget to add Inferno by Ophelia Sexton to your shelves!

Accidentally mated to her family's worst enemy…

Bear shifter Kayla Swanson is trapped. While fighting a wildfire in New Mexico, she makes a grave mistake and the flames are getting close. Lucky for her a tall, ruggedly handsome shifter comes to her aid.

The fire may have been extinguished but their passion sparks a heated encounter. A mating bond takes them both by surprise, and a surprise baby is on the way. One problem: this shifter happens to be a disgraced police officer and convicted felon. A mating bond means forever, but what if forever doesn't work out?

Kayla's always wanted a mate and a family of her own. Just not this mate. How can she be bonded to a man she knows she should despise? Even if she can't stop thinking about his courage and compassion in the face of overwhelming danger…

Claiming his fated mate…

A decade ago, sabertooth shifter Pete Langlais made a series of terrible decisions that effectively ruined his life. He lost everything: custody of his son Chris, his career as a police officer, his reputation, and his freedom. Trying to redeem himself, he volunteers as an inmate firefighter during a massive wildfire. When he meets beautiful, courageous Kayla, he knows he must risk everything to save her…and to claim her as his mate.

Pete's courage and heroic actions win him a full pardon and freedom, but he knows he's got almost no chance of winning the heart of his pregnant mate or the respect of his estranged son. But he's beaten the odds before. He arrives in Bearpaw Ridge to claim Kayla and reunite with Chris, determined to prove to both of them that he's a changed man and worthy to be a mate and a father.

When fire burns, everyone's at risk of getting hurt...

Pete can try to convince Kayla of his true desires, but she has to decide for herself. Mated forever? Or is their love destined to go up in flames?

This shifter romance is one that starts off with an adrenaline spike first meeting that results in an accidental mating. The characters are strong, compelling and have a lot of sizzling chemistry but the relationship is one extremely star-crossed romance that could leave this hero and heroine mateless. Lots of emotional turbulence in regards to Pete and his past as he struggles to overcome his past and rebuild his life by convincing Kaya to give him a chance and by building a relationship with his son and in regards to Kayla, she is being torn between wanting her mate and her own family but facing being disowned by her family due to the events of the past.

The story is original, fast paced and keeps readers on tender hooks throughout as the suspense and tension builds. But it has several heartwarming moments and lots of passion throughout the turbulence to cheer and delight readers as well, while the charming and intriguing supernatural community ensures that readers enjoy their visit to Bearpaw Ridge and the wonderful characters that inhabit it.
