Rhapsodic- a quick run down
Rhapsodic - Laura Thalassa

He dips his mouth close to my ear. “Cherub, people like us are not victims. We’re someone’s nightmare.”
I’m not a victim.
I’m not a victim.
How had I forgotten this? Because, somewhere along the way, I had forgotten. And it nearly broke me.
My eyes move to Des. “Teach me again how to be someone’s nightmare.”

This Urban Fantasy is a charming, delectable guilty pleasure. It centers around a love story coupled with an Otherworldly mystery. Why is it creepy you ask? WELL, they meet when Callie is 16 years old, spent over 300 evenings together getting to know each other. These evenings included showing her the ins and outs of his nefarious trade, whisking her all over the world to experience Life, holding her when she cried herself to sleep and being her avenging dark angel whenever she was wronged. That is until one day he disappears from her life and she is left with a boatload of Feels for a man that seemingly does not return her scentements. Fast forward 7 years. Desmond (the Bargainer) returns to our Siren and demands reparation. Add in some angsty dialogue, a pretty cool "other world" dilemma, a load of plot twists and now they can't keep their hormones in check?? To me it's a touch creepy but that's probably just a Puritan throwback/ hangup on my part.

Anyhow, this character driven UF was twisty and turny and all sorts of fun and I can't wait to read book #2

Round-Up for March and April 2018

I cannot believe we are actually going into May already, the time is just flying by.

Sadly I was super busy, sick  or had some dental work done and really didn't get a lot books read in the last couple months, hence the double round-up this month. But some book I actually just combined or a all in one addition came out for review. So the actually books read or reviewed I shoulds say is not as much. I have  few more but I still have to write up some reviews so it will have to wait.

I'm actually thinking about putting up a new blog since while it is also refreshing to to have one, I also miss it. But if I do I will not put so much stress on myself and just post whatever and whenever , just for fun.

But we shall see lol.

I should however post a book haul it has been forever and it its getting out of control but I think I wait toll after may since there are a few books coming out yet that I really want to get and add .

I hope everyone is having a great time and enjoying the nice weather and everyone is reading some great books.

Here are my books for March/April 2018

DNF after first half
The Queen of All that Dies - Laura Thalassa

I just couldn't bear the stupidity any longer.

I didn't feel with the heroine, she came across as stupid and immature and also too emotional.

The whole story line didn't work for me.

It had a very strong YA/NA feel to me - heroine is 19.

And I had to laugh internally every time I read the big bad baddie's name: Montes Lazuli - that sounded like a bad play on a semi-precious stone...also, just for the record: THAT IS NOT A TYPICAL FRENCH NAME.

Anyway, I was disappointed, liked "pestilence" a lot, but this wasn't for me.

Rhapsodic
Rhapsodic - Laura Thalassa ⭐️4 stars⭐️

"One day you'll have to pay all those back. Are you scared now?"

"I would be if you weren't wearing your hair in a girly little ponytail," I say, reaching for the ends of his white hair.

"It's not good manners to taunt a fairy. We have notoriously thin skin." Despite the threat, his eyes spark with excitement.

"I'm sorry," I say, "your ponytail is very masculine. I feel like I'm going to grow a beard just looking at it"

"Mouthy thing."

A Strange Hymn
A Strange Hymn - Laura Thalassa DNF

Another bad-ass turned special snowflake. sigh

Callypso was an awesome siren PI and now I spent half the book with her just being clueless and worrying that she's not pretty anymore. And of course, let's not forget the whole lot of nothing that's happening.

I liked the first book. I found the story and characters really interesting and I picked this one up right after I finished, but the more I read the more "meh" I felt.
Sad.

Once again, I blame my expectations. maybe I'll give it another shot in the future.
