Some Great Stories, Some Not So Great Stories
Love at First Bite: A 13 Book Excite Spice Vampire Romance MEGA Bundle (Excite Spice Boxed Sets) - Selena Kitt,Bianca Sommerland,Jami Brumfield,Tilly Greene,Rebecca Royce,Onne Andrews,Dottie Wilson,Indie Mon,Brooke Adams,Lynda Belle

-The Blood of the Angels-Selena Kitt-5 Stars
The Blood of Angels is a story that follows the world of Zeph, a fate fairy who follows mankind around in order to line up fateful events in humans' lives. She finds herself more and more drawn into human actions and when she meets one that can see her, she uses her annual wish so that she can experience what it's like to be human for one day. I really enjoyed this story. It was very sweet experiencing everything through Zeph's eyes, especially once she became human.
-Deadly Captive-Bianca Sommerland-1 Star
Lydia becomes conscious completely chained up and not remembering anything. The first thing she sees is Joe. This story should have had a warning on it. It starts right off with a situation I don’t care to read about and gets worse from there. I did manage to finish the story out of morbid curiosity but the story really wasn’t for me.
-The Witch's Vampire-Jami Brumfield-2 Stars
Just after her mother succumbs to cancer, Sophie Waters is told that not only is she a witch, but she is to be the town’s next witch doctor. When she takes off in despair, she runs into Giovanni Mancuso, the vampire prince. I started out liking this story, but the farther I got, the less I liked it. I didn’t like the different character switched Sophia seemed to have. I also didn’t like how the POVs changed from paragraph to paragraph. I made it through most of the story, but when the Greek mythology got changed up, I had to stop.
-Bite Marks Rebecca Royce-5 Stars
George is a writer whose determined that Trudy, a bartender at a local bar, is to be his future wife. If only she’d finally go on a date with him. Just as she finally accepts his request, he is bitten by a vampire and left for dead. I really liked this story. It was very fast-paced and kept my interest. Trudy is a real spit-fire. I especially liked her characters. She’s a no-nonsense type of person and finally decides to take what she wants.
I read 4 of the stories in this anthology. I loved two of them and really disliked two of them. That’s odd for me. Usually I tend to like most every story, but that wasn’t the case this time. Because of that, I haven’t finished the anthology. I do highly recommend the two stories that I loved.
**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review

2. Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must destroy the lives of others.
Ismae’s most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?

3. The Vampire Hunter by Michele Hauf

In all his years of battling the undead, Kaz has never seen bloodlust like this. And as a Knight of the Stake, it's up to him to find out who's responsible for the mayhem sweeping the streets of Paris and put a stop to it. Kaz's task becomes infinitely more complicated when a very attractive witch wants to help.

With her quirky charm and irresistibly kissable lips, Zoë just feels right to Kaz, the way no mortal woman ever has before. But as a sworn enemy of the supernatural, can he really trust a witch? Especially one with dangerous secrets of her own?

4. The Treasure Keeper by Shana Abe

She is a young drákon of untried powers. He is the powerful second son of the Alpha male from their clan of shapeshifting, supersensual beings. And what she is about to attempt will violate every taboo and break every law that bind the drákon together—and just may save them from destruction.

A mere seamstress’s daughter, Zoe Cyprienne Lane isn’t even in the same league as Lord Rhys Langford. Nothing could be more shocking than the notion that she’d set out to find her childhood friend and first true love. But when news arrives in the Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania that Rhys is being held captive, that’s just what she does. Guided by her own hidden Gifts and her psychic link to Rhys—his presence and touch as electric as if he were beside her in the flesh—Zoe is his last lifeline to a world and a passion he thought he’d never regain. Only reunited, hunter and huntress, can they save the drákon from those who would destroy them all.

5. Blameless by Gail Carriger

Quitting her husband's house and moving back in with her horrible family, Lady Maccon becomes the scandal of the London season.

Queen Victoria dismisses her from the Shadow Council, and the only person who can explain anything, Lord Akeldama, unexpectedly leaves town. To top it all off, Alexia is attacked by homicidal mechanical ladybugs, indicating, as only ladybugs can, the fact that all of London's vampires are now very much interested in seeing Alexia quite thoroughly dead.

While Lord Maccon elects to get progressively more inebriated and Professor Lyall desperately tries to hold the Woolsey werewolf pack together, Alexia flees England for Italy in search of the mysterious Templars. Only they know enough about the preternatural to explain her increasingly inconvenient condition, but they may be worse than the vampires -- and they're armed with pesto.

6. Paris Bites by Missy Lyons

Christopher D’Angelo is from a very long and distinguished line of vampires, but years of blood and sex aren’t enough to make him happy. Only finding his mate can make him complete, and he doesn’t have a chance in hell without finding his family’s lost blood diamond first. Samantha Panini is living and working as a thief on the streets of Paris dressed as a young man. Her entire life changes abruptly when she picks the pocket of a vampire. In retaliation, he kidnaps her. Once Christopher discovers her secrets and her lush curves, he is unwilling to let her go, but he made a promise to release her if she cooperates. In a quirk of fate, his captive turns out to be his lifemate, and she holds the keys to his heart. Will she break it completely when it comes time to release her, or will his enemies destroy her first

9. Wake Unto Me by Lisa Cach

Desperate to flee these terrifying dreams-and her small town-she accepts a spot at a boarding school in France. Only, when she arrives, her nightmares get worse. But then there are her amazing dreams, so vivid and so real, with visits from an alluring, mysterious, and gorgeous Italian boy from the 1500s. Caitlyn knows they are soul mates, but how can she be in love with someone who exists only in her dreams? 10. Damien by Jacquelyn Frank

Now, tired of such pursuits, he devotes his energies to protecting his people. The war between human necromancers and Nightwalkers has escalated, and when the enemy makes a daring move, kidnapping Syreena, a Lycanthrope Princess, Damien boldly follows. He succeeds in rescuing her, but is unprepared for the erotic longing her lush sensuality awakens in him.

Gifted with rare abilities, Syreena grew up in a cloistered setting and was forbidden to form attachments to others, yet the connection Damien feels with her is immediate, intoxicating, and impossible for either to resist. But claiming Syreena as his mate could have shattering repercussions for every Nightwalker--and leave their enemies more dangerous than ever before. . .

The Vampire's Bite ( Blood and Love #1)
The Vampire's Bite ( Blood and Love #1) - Eve Grant I received a ARC in return of a honest review.

When I saw this title available on Netgalley I knew I needed to try it out. A short novella, that only consists of 85 pages, but I really liked the blurb so I jumped right into this one. The voice of the author in this story was addicting, I really liked the way she just sucked me right into the story. However I had a hard time loving this one. With the story being so short, it ends way too quickly, and just when it starts to get into the story it ends...a cliffhanger folks.,. and one I was surprised by. I am guessing the next book will continue right where this one leaves off. Even though this is a romance, there isn't much of that in this one. I am guessing this first installment sets up the story for later books. We do see a bit of chemistry between Nicholas and Susan, but there is only a hint of it, but I did enjoy seeing how Grant really delves deeper into the characters. Even though I had a few issues with this one, I did enjoy it and was a short yet fun past time. Looking forward to the second one and hope it comes out...soon!! A Story that will pique your curiosity and keep you hanging at the end and hungering for more!!

Only R.Caine and her "Drama Queen's Last Dance"
Eternal: More Love Stories with Bite - P.C. Cast,Nancy Holder,Jeri Smith-Ready,Heather Brewer,Claudia Gray,Lili St. Crow,Rachel Caine

"My name is Eve, and I am a drama queen.
I don't mean like any old garden-variety teen throwing a tantrum, oh no. I am a Drama Queen, with big initial capital letters and curlicues on top. I work hard at it, and I resent anybody lumping me in with a bunch of wannabe poseurs who haven't even qualified in Beginning Pouting, much less Champion Fit Throwing."

Plot.

The story is told from Eve's perspective and it depicts an interesting episode form her life.

There is a new vampire in town and she is called Gloriana. She is beautiful, attractive and everyone seem to notice it. And I mean everyone. Including Michael.

Eve noticed how Michael acts strangely when he is around her and that there is just something about this vamp that doesn't sit well with her. It was an instant dislike on both sides, Eve's and Gloriana's.

Even though Michael assured Eve that he only loves her and would never do anything like that (as in sex with Gloriana) to harm her on the day of the welcoming ceremony for Gloriana, he fails to live up (pun not intended) to that promise.

Gloriana just wooshed him to the dance floor and left the party with him. Can Eve take her man back or will it end right then and there?

Review.

"The saga started out a normal day—don't they all? I mean, surely one morning back there in prehistoric times a dinosaur woke up, yawned, chewed some coffee beans, and thought his day was going to be dead boring, just before a comet slammed into his neighborhood."

I fail to see why people dislike this short story. Eve wasn't a drama queen after all despite the title of the story. Whereas she is in almost all the other books and people love her there (I did from the beginning but then her crying and whining cooled me off).

Eve loves Michael, there is no doubt about it. And he loves her just as much. And they seem to have a good relationship despite him being undead and her crying every few minutes.

"Hi, handsome," I purred. "See something you like?"
"Always," he said, and gave me just a flicker of that devastating Michael Glass grin. "And the coffee looks good, too."
"You are suave. I've always said so."
"And you're strange. But I love strange.

When Eve noticed Michael's behavior towards Gloriana who looks like a sex kitten from hell (read the story) of course she felt jealous and inadequate. I bet it is really difficult for Eve to measure up all those flawless vamps who had centuries of practice on making themselves look beautiful.

He also spotted Gloriana, who was leaning her chin on her tiny little hand, looking at Oliver with luminous, big eyes.
"Wow," he said. This was not the thing you want to hear out of a boyfriend, believe me.

And Eve is right. Of course you are going to smirk on a comment like that. Who wouldn't. Most of the women are insecure deep down and when someone makes a comment like that on a woman in front of you, you die a little inside. It's kind of involuntary.

But Eve was right. Gloriana was nothing as she seemed and she did try to do something vile. Which included poor Michael. So Eve's instinct was spot on.

As much as it was frustrating for Eve, I think it was worse for Michael. He couldn't help it. And he's got Eve mad. And his friends looking at him strangely. So he has to his best to show Eve what a good boyfriend he is. And trust me... he definitely is. A model one. Deserving of a trophy.

"Promise me you'll marry me," he said. "Promise me that you're not going to leave me. I need you, Eve, I've always needed you and I always will. Please. Promise me."

"You looked like the sexiest woman in the world."
"Well, in fairness, I am the sexiest woman in the world."
"And you're always right."
"You are so brilliant to recognize that."

I'm moving to Skull Creek Texas
Drop Dead Gorgeous - Kimberly Raye

“It was the best sex she'd had in months. The only sex. Which wouldn't be such a bad thing except that the elusive O came courtesy of a red vibrator called the Big Tamale rather than some hot, buff cowboy with a slow hand and an intoxicating smile.”

So with an opening paragraph like this you know you’re in for a fun ride and for the most part DROP DEAD GORGEOUS doesn’t disappoint. This is book 2 from Kimberly Raye’s sexy and hilarious Love At First Bite trilogy. Set in Skull Creek Texas these quickie romances follow the small town antics and love connections of some rather eccentric but completely likable women as they get their groove on and find true love with gorgeous Texan cowboys who also just happen to be Vampires.

Dillon Cash used to be the biggest geek in Skull Creek until he inadvertently got between two warring vampires, losing his human life in the process. Now he’s back and better than ever, in fact except for whole burning to a crisp in the sun thingy and a small aversion to garlic, his new life rocks. This former nerdy computer tech’s been transformed into a hunka, hunka burning vampire love and every woman in town wants a piece of him.

Meg Sweeny or “Manhandler Meg” as she’s been known since high school, can’t believe the changes in her old friend Dillon. Now not only does she want his body but she wants his secret as well. You see Meg is a closeted geek and if Dillon can suddenly morph into a stud then theres a chance that with a little of his instruction she can become the much desired sex kitten she’s always wanted to be too.

All Dillon wants to do is erase his geeky reputation and blaze a trail as the towns studliest guy, possibly even emerging #1 on the coveted "Randiest Rooster" list. But theres something about his old pal Meg he can’t refuse, she see’s past his new muscles and heartthrob status and damn if he hadn’t always thought she was irresistible anyways. Our couple engage in a cat and mouse game of who’s seducing who and of course lose their hearts in the process.

Although I didn’t enjoy this as much as Dead Sexy it was still a good read. My only real problem being that geek heroes just don’t do it for me and regardless of his hot vampire makeover I never felt much of anything for Dillon. Even the love scenes (which are plenty spicy) didn’t work for me. But that’s just me. However the truly great thing about this series (besides the fact that it’s frigging hilarious) is the awesome cast of unconventional townsfolk and the crazy adventures they manage to get themselves into. Raye has written this in such an endearing, fun way that I find myself wanting to move to Skull Creek just so that I can spend Friday nights at Joe Bob’s Bar and Grill and buy my groceries at the local Piggly Wiggly. Not to mention the fact that I might bag myself a cowboy Vamp and make it onto the Gazette’s hot chicks list. Cheers
