Twitter Girl is a must read, if you love witty dialogue. Add to this, media industry insight, delivered by vivid, easily visualised characters and you have an enjoyable read. Like 'Wing Girl', the first book by Nic Tatano, this sweet, romantic comedy is full of snarky lines from independent, career minded women, who speak their mind, before they consider the consequences.

TV journalist Cassidy's television career depends on her brash, no nonsense opinions. Twitter proves the perfect social media vehicle to get her noticed but a misconstrued tweet, puts her at the centre of a controversy. Her twitter following grows and lands her a new job on the road to 'The White House' with wannabe presidential nominee, Will Becker, eligible and drop dead gorgeous.

The cast of characters includes a dynamic, loyal best friend, Ripley. Dependable, loving younger brother, Sam and Tyler, a carbon copy of her much loved brother, who always has her best interests at heart. Will Becker is Cassidy's boss and the focus of her desire but does he reciprocate? Can she solve the mystery surrounding him even if she risks breaking her heart?

Romance, friendship, political conspiracy all features in this light hearted story but the dark secrets are shocking and force Cassidy to value what's real rather than the fantasy.

This was a really great fun read. I loved it.

 

Belinda is a bit of a hard arse. She has this massive wall up and being a reporter is instantly accusatory when she meets someone. The thing is deep down she's a big softie and her friends know that. She just needs to let a guy in. Let him see the softer side of her not the snarky person she is for her job.

 

So the girls, Roxanne, Aerial and Serena, decide its time she had a makeover. It's bloddy brilliant. The girls are so good to her not only do they make over her appearance they show her how to charm a guy so that the minute she opens her mouth they don't runaway.

 

Roxanne asks her cousin Vincent to be the first test subject for Belinda and boy do they get off on the wrong foot. He is such a lovely man and Belinda is pretty horrible to him.

 

There's this little pastry shop called Nick's and it sounds amazing. I really want one of those in my life.

 

I loved the twist in this book and I have to say I didn't see it coming.

 

I really enjoyed this book and I will absolutely be reading more of Nic's books.

The story was interesting at first but I found myself losing interest about a quarter of the way in. I think this might have been because the storyline was a tad bit predictable and felt rushed in places. I know the events were all leading up to events in the next book but I wasn’t totally convinced. I also didn’t buy the romance bit. One minutes she fancied two guys and not long after, she’s totally over one of them and happy for him to date her friend. There were some really nice moments (e.g. the bond between Jillian and her mother) but not enough to make me overlook everything else. 

The inevitable has happened. When you hate the main character so much, what can you do other than DNF the book?

Cassidy Shea is famous on Twitter because of her "sarcastic tweets". But sometimes people just don't have a sense of humour and one of her little Twitter jokes was to much to handle. She gets fired and while at first I though "Gee, that's so unfair," Cassidy showed me what kind of a person she is and I switched to "The bitch deserved it."



So what is the plot of this Chick Lit? Presidential candidate Will Becker hires her as help for his campaign. And what do you think miss Cassidy does at this job? Oh, well, other than occasional mean Tweets that were not funny at all (at least not for me) she is much more preoccupied in what hot man at her workplace to get her hands on.

'It Girl' has a fast paced, humorous, edgy plot. Veronica Summers is a strong heroine and the setting has great TV and Media detail. This book recaptures all the witty dialogue and romance of 'Wing Girl', Nic Tatano's first book, which I love.
All the characters are vividly portrayed and Veronica's friends and confidantes; Savannah and Layla are notable. The plot has a couple of unexpected outcomes, which make for an enjoyable read and there is a romantic hero who is not what he seems.
'It Girl' is a well written Rom Com from a sound knowledge base, which makes it both credible and a page turner.
