40 Love by Madeleine Wickham
40 Love: A Novel - Madeleine Wickham

Over the years I have read several Sophie Kinsella books, but this is the first one I have read under her real name Madeleine Wickham. I was curious to see how her older books compare to her more current releases and the tennis theme caught my interest as well.

What can I say about 40-Love? Keeping up with the Jones’s was definitely a theme here. From their expensive clothing, art and private schools, each character was more materialistic than the next. And their backstabbing snobbery became more infuriating as I read along.

Katherine Kellgren’s narration was spot on, when bringing a voice to the Chance’s and their guests. She did a great job expressing their selfish personalities and high brow accents. Wickham’s familiar contemporary style and the anticipation of confrontation kept me listening to this book.

Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend 40-Love, but I would recommend Madeleine Wickham/Sophie Kinsella as an author to read.

Seriously... I'm Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres
Seriously... I'm Kidding - Ellen DeGeneres

Seriously… I’m Kidding has been on my to-read list for a while now. When it finally came available to borrow from my library I jumped at the chance to listen to the audio version.

Narrated by Ellen herself, this audio book was just like listening to the opening monologue on her talk show. I enjoyed her observations on the world around her and admire her for keeping her jokes clean. Unlike most comedians, Ellen’s humor is suitable for all ages.

Although an enjoyable listen, I did find some of the rambling to be a bit much and settled on a 3 star rating. I would recommend Seriously… I’m Kidding to fans of Ellen DeGeneres.

Have you ever wished your library had more books available to you???

Did you know, even if you don't live in a certain library's district, you can sign up for an out-of-state eCard to check out eBooks and Audiobooks with?  There are only a few libraries that offer this, especially where they'll mail it to you.  I looked into the different libraries that offer this:

Brooklyn Public Library NY-- $50 a year

*Orange County Library FL--  $125 a year (this one looks like it might work in a different Country, but I'm not sure of that)

*Fairfax County Library VA--  $27 a year

*Houston Public Library  TX--  $40 a year

*Free Library of Philadelphia  PA--  $50 a year

*note--I'm not certain if all these libraries will mail the card to you, but I think they do.

After looking into these libraries I decided to go with Brooklyn Public Library and I've been using my card for a couple months now and I think it's worth the $50.  Especially, for the audiobooks.  I did find that my local library has quite a lot of books too because some of these choices didn't even compare to my KDL.  Also, I still use Overdrive to access the books/audiobooks I check out. After I filled out the application they emailed my card # to me, and also mailed my actual card.  I then paid my fee of $50 and started using my card.

Book Review For: A Rake's Guide to Seduction by Caroline Linden
A Rake's Guide to Seduction (Zebra Historical Romance) - Caroline Linden

' A Rake's Guide to Seduction' by Caroline Linden is book Three in the "Reece Family' Trilogy.
This is the story of Anthony Hamilton and Celia Reece. I have read the other books in this series but feel this can be a standalone book. Also please note that this is a re-release with a new book cover, the first release was in 2008.
Celia once thought of marriage with rose colored glasses but after her marriage with her first husband those glasses are off. Now as a widow and a sister of a Duke she has some freedoms but is also much sought after.
Anthony who has always been a friend of Celia brother David always seem to live a crazy life and only had peace when he was with David's family. Now all those years later when he sees Celia again and they actually speak and get to know one another again it brings back feelings for both of them.
Loved this second chance at love story along with this getting a second chance with readers!

Book Review For: 'Bliss' by Lynsay Sands
Bliss - Lynsay Sands

'Bliss' by Lynsay Sands is the story of Hethe, Lord Holden and Lady Helen.
This book is a re-release and was first published around 2o10. I am so happy that it has been released again with its new cover. Ms. Sands books are some of my favorite books in the world. They are funny, emotional, hot and have great characters. I will never be able to say enough about her books.
This story is about Lord Holden who is a widower and Lady Helen who has never married writing to the King Henry...each write a letter to him complaining about the other. Those letters seem to arrive at the same time to the King. Which has turned out to be a pain in his side....when he talks over the problem with one of his men of courts he suggested that they marry each other. They will then either settle their arguments or kill each other he jokes. Hethe nor Helen have every actually met in person..although Hethe remebers seeing Helen with she was around 10 years old. But each only really know the other by stories and hearsay. Helen knows that she won't be able to break the engagement but thinks that if she can get Hethe to back out of the marriage then she is home free. So Helen tries several things to throw him off but Hethe goes forward with the King's orders.
I loved watching these two try to work past their schemes and then start working together.
This is a story that you will want to keep reading over and over...its not a one time read for sure!
