Allegiance of Honor (Psy-Changeling #15) by Nalini Singh
Allegiance of Honor (Psy/Changelings) - Nalini Singh

The Psy-Changeling world has undergone a staggering transformation and now stands at a crossroads. The Trinity Accord promises a new era of cooperation between disparate races and groups. It is a beacon of hope held together by many hands: Old enemies. New allies. Wary loners.

But a century of distrust and suspicion can’t be so easily forgotten and threatens to shatter Trinity from within at any moment. As rival members vie for dominance, chaos and evil gather in the shadows and a kidnapped woman’s cry for help washes up in San Francisco, while the Consortium turns its murderous gaze toward a child who is the embodiment of change, of love, of piercing hope: A child who is both Psy…and changeling.

To find the lost, protect the vulnerable—and save Trinity—no one can stand alone.

This is a time of loyalty across divisions, of bonds woven into the heart and the soul,

of heroes known and unknown standing back to back and holding the line.

But is an allegiance of honor even possible with traitors lurking in their midst?

Excerpt:

Lucas had had to chase Naya around the aerie at bedtime last night—her walk might

still be a little shaky, but she was a rocket when it came to crawling.

Dressed only in a diaper, she’d laughed uproariously and said a loud, firm “No” each

time Lucas caught her and put her in her crib.

After which she’d clamber out—she’d figured out how to escape a month earlier—and

the game would begin again. Of course, since Lucas was a cat, he’d been having

just as much fun as their daughter. Sascha, meanwhile, had sat in the living room

with a cup of hot chocolate and just indulged in the sight of her mate playing with their

 cub.

She’d had to pretend to be stern when Naya ran over and pleaded her case with loud

sounds and wild gesticulations of her hands. “No, Naya,” she’d said, biting her tongue

in an effort not to laugh. “It’s time for bed. Go with Papa.”

At which point, Naya had growled at her, eyes sparkling with mischief.

And Sascha had cracked, laughing so hard she’d had to put down her hot chocolate

before she spilled it. Lucas had shaken his head as Naya plopped down on her

diaper-covered butt and joined in, clapping her hands at having made her mommy laugh.

“No discipline.” Lucas had mock-growled at her before picking up their misbehaving

baby. “And you”—a growly nuzzle that made Naya laugh harder and pat his stubbled

 cheek—“time for bed.”

He’d finally got her to sleep—by walking around with her pressed up against his bare

 chest.

Today, their cub was playing in the living area just outside the kitchen nook.

Sascha had locked the aerie door to ensure Naya wouldn’t undo the latch and go

out onto the balcony, and Lucas had childproofed the entire main area of the aerie,

so Naya was free to roam as she liked. A lot of the time she practiced her walking

skills. And no matter how often she fell down, she started back up again after a little

 break.

Stubborn, determined baby.

Peeking out from the kitchen, Sascha found her concentrating on stacking the

colored alphabet blocks Faith and Vaughn had given her as a gift.

Beside her sat a more than slightly ragged wolf plush toy, aka “The Toy

That Shall Not Be Named.” Hawke had given that to Naya when she was a newborn,

and it remained her favorite snuggle toy, much to her father’s despair.

Though Lucas did enjoy it when Naya went leopard on the toy, growling and “fighting”

with the wolf. Then he’d smile and say, “That’s my girl.”

An Interview Question With The Author:

Nalini Singh on the future of the Psy-Changeling series

Is Allegiance of Honor the end of the Psy-Changeling series?

No, it’s not. :) I ADORE this world and the characters and I have so many

Psy-Changeling stories yet to tell. (I've often joked that I'll be writing this series

until I'm ninety-eight!)

Where do you see the Psy-Changeling world going from here?

Who is the next book about?

(Slightly spoilery answer to follow if you’re just starting the series).

Allegiance of Honor sets up a lot of possibilities for the future.

There are many avenues I could take. However, for me, this arc is all about what

happens not just to the Psy, but to the world, now that Silence has fallen and all the

 rules have changed.

We’ve had the immediate aftermath books, both of which focused on the Psy race

(Shield of Winter Shards of Hope), but what about the wider long-term future?

Because Silence existed for a reason. The Psy still have these incredible abilities that

have the potential to drive them murderously insane, and the world is still a fractured

triumvirate. And there are players about whom we know very little, like the falcons

and BlackSea.

As for who’s book is next, I’m not ready to announce it yet because I want to be

certain this character is ready – but I think you’ll be pleased. ;-)

My Review:

I'm really happy with how this book turned out. My favorite kind of read is the reunion story that brings together old favorites for cameos and catch ups which is great this far into the series because you can loose touch with the characters and cast over time when a series gets as far along as this one has.

Although there isn't that big of an actual story line we get a lot of who's doing what and what's gone on in a few of our favs lives since we last saw them.

I always favor this kind of book because its nice to see that even this long after the author has closed the page on the story that the characters don't just disappear.

I think a lot of people will really love this book but I also think many who have been in on the series from the start might not favor it as much especially if they already know a lot of the back story due to already knowing a lot of what takes place from the previous books, so any new readers to Nalinis books this is a good way to catch up on the cast and start at the beginning.

Regardless of the fact that many people don't like to rehash events or details I'm the kind of person who does like them. Be aware those of you who don't that there are plenty of both in Allegiance of Honor so be ready for a download.

In my opinion Allegiance of Honor was a really great read.

Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh Review
Shield of Winter - Nalini Singh

Assassin. Soldier. Arrow. That is who Vasic is, who he will always be. His soul drenched in blood, his conscience heavy with the weight of all he’s done, he exists in the shadows, far from the hope his people can almost touch—if only they do not first drown in the murderous insanity of a lethal contagion. To stop the wave of death, Vasic must complete the simplest and most difficult mission of his life.

For if the Psy race is to survive, the empaths must wake…

Having rebuilt her life after medical “treatment” that violated her mind and sought to stifle her abilities, Ivy should have run from the black-clad Arrow with eyes of winter frost. But Ivy Jane has never done what she should. Now, she'll fight for her people, and for this Arrow who stands as her living shield, yet believes he is beyond redemption. But as the world turns to screaming crimson, even Ivy’s fierce will may not be enough to save Vasic from the cold darkness…

Review

I adore this series and really loved The Heart of Obsidian which reset the series and allowed it to bloom again.

This is a good book in the series. Silence for the Psy has fallen. Vasic is a great hero and Ivy a wonderful heroine. The overarching plot of the world is excellent and we get to see a ton of of our favorite characters. We even get a great dog.

The slow burn of the romance is good but the action parts of the book do overwhelm the romance in places. Unlike Heart of Obsidian, I think you would need to have read at least a few books in the series to get the full enjoyment out of this love story.

Wonderful overall.

CARESSED BY ICE BY: NALINI SINGH
Caressed By Ice - Nalini Singh

I loved this addition to the Psy-Changling series! It seems as if each book keeps getting better than the one before it. I keep getting these from the long wait list at my local library, and sometimes so much time passes in between me reading them that it takes me a few chapters to fully catch back up to what is going on. That was definitely the case with Caressed By Ice. This world that Nalini Singh had created is just so vast and in depth that there is so much going on there at once. It's a fantastic thing, and completely holds you in it's thrall, I only wish I got the books a little closer together so it wouldn't take my lackadaisical brain so long to recall what the heck is going on. After a few chapters though I was good to go, and go I did. From that point on I was hooked, and hanging on every word.

I really enjoyed this book for so many reasons. I loved Brenna and Judd. Brenna had such an amazing will. She was proud, stubborn, strong and yet still compassionate and kind. After all that she had been through it was amazing to see how strong she was and how determined she was to heal herself.

And Judd was fascinating to me. He had the Psy coldness to him, but also even more than that because of what kind of powers he had. He was special in a very dangerous way. I loved watching the ice he surrounded himself in slowly thaw for Brenna.

<--- This was totally me throughout the second half of this book! lol

I especially like that each new addition to this series, thus far is just expanding the world that already seems so intricate. If you've made it this far with the series it's obvious that there is always the romance factor going on in each book. But even though they have always been the Psys and the Changlings, the characters are each so unique that you never feel as if you are reading the same thing over and over. And honestly I feel like the paranormal aspect at the very least is equivalent to the romance in this series. Each new addition add another layer to this already incredible world. I also like seeing the characters from the previous books still around, even if they are secondary rather than primary characters. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, I only hope this 9 people before me hurry the hell up so I can get my hands on it sooner rather than later!
