Riverbend, Ciara Knight
In All My Dreams (Riverbend Book 3) - Ciara Knight

I enjoyed this clean, sweet novella Romance, Book .05. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review. I've given this a 4.5* rating. This would make a good case for the absent minded professor saying. Both the hero and the heroine were a little bit like that. This is a nice sweet love story.

Riverbend Road By RaeAnne Thayne 99 cents!
Riverbend Road (Haven Point) - RaeAnne Thayne

Protecting the streets of Haven Point isn't just a job for police officer Wyn Bailey, it's a family tradition. But lately she's found herself wanting more, especially from her boss—and overprotective brother's best friend—sexy chief of police, Cade Emmett. The only problem is getting Cade to view her as more than just a little sister.

Cade's hands-off approach with Wyn isn't from lack of attraction. But his complicated past has forced him to conceal his desire. When Wyn is harmed in the line of duty, Cade realizes the depth of his feelings, but can he let his guard down long enough to embrace the love he secretly craves?

Two Tropes in One: Brother's Best Friend + Boss/Employee Romance
Riverbend Road (Haven Point) - RaeAnne Thayne

Riverbend Road was another stellar contemporary romance from one of my go-to authors, RaeAnne Thayne. Pairing a brother’s best friend AND an employee/boss trope together–with a thread of mystery added in for good measure–this hit all of the bells and whistles I look for in a solid story.

‘She was his officer, which made her completely off-limits. Beyond that, she was his best friend’s little sister and the daughter of the man responsible for everything good and right in Cade’s life.’

For some reason I can never fully explain why I always seem to connect with each of Thayne’s characters. Maybe it’s the realistic manner in which she writes, with down to earth characters who have to work hard to earn their HEA. Or maybe it’s that she focuses on life in small towns which definitely resonates with me. Whatever it is, each book I’ve read in the Haven Point series has captured my attention and my heart. Riverbend Road was no exception.

Riverbend Road (RaeAnne Thayne)
Riverbend Road (Haven Point) - RaeAnne Thayne

It feels good returning to Haven Point, the fictional small town from the pen of RaeAnne Thayne, which started with Snow Angel Cove back in 2014. In Riverbend Road, readers are going to meet police officer Wynona "Wyn" Bailey and the Chief of Police, Cade Emmett.

I loved Wyn so much!! I thought she was totally awesome. She stole my heart early on when she walked into an old barn on fire to save two teenage boys. Then Wyn continued to charm me as the story went along, with her befriending a skittish woman and her kids, teaching self-defense class, and of course dealing with her feeling for Cade. I loved that she made the first move and later on, she didn't back down when she told Cade what she wanted out of him.

“I don’t want to be vital to the department. I only want to be vital to you. I’m in love with you, Cade. Don’t you get it?”

There wasn't a lot that I could complaint about when it comes to Wyn. I adored her; she was kind, friendly, resourceful, and strong. On top of that she was also a survivor. I think Wyn is definitely my favorite heroine so far from this series.

Cade on the other hand -- urgh, I could knock some sense into him. Being the best friend of Wyn's older brother, Cade suffered from the typical attitude in romance, as in not wanting to make a move towards his best friend's sister. It also didn't help that Cade was practically Wyn's boss, which could complicate their professional relationship if people found out. Especially since one of Wyn's friends was none other than Haven Point's mayor, a.k.a. Cade's boss.

Despite this, I thought the story was lovely; there was definitely a chemistry between Wyn and Cade considering they were also good friends. There was douse of humor too, one of the most precious moments was when Wyn asked Cade to help with her self-defense class. Not going to spoil much but there was a good amount of drama and action near the end, which resulted in a satisfying conclusion for Wyn and Cade's romance.

It was a wonderful read and I look forward to more stories from Haven Point...

Full of great stories!
And then He Kissed Her - Hildie McQueen,Ciara Knight,Brinda Berry,Lindi Peterson,Melinda Curtis

This compilation includes stories from 5 different authors.  They are really good.  I recommend this book for gifts, vacations, or somewhere you need to have a book ready.  They are all separate and individual books within the book.

For my purposes, I was after the last story in the book.  Charmer by Brinda Berry.  I had been wanting to read this ever since it had been mentioned on social media.

Reese McClain meets Cord Barton in a mall.  She is there since her niece dragged her along - only to find out she was matchmaking and wanted her to meet the famous rock star as a potential husband.  To say she is shocked kind of simplifies it.

To her credit, Cord and Reese are attracted to one another.  They meet again later at Reese's shop.  Where Cord is following her to learn the business to open his own.

Reese would find it easier if she was not crazy hot for Cord  She does not want to be - after all he can have whomever he wants.  Not a crazy aunt of a precocious teenager.  He pursues her anyway, much to her chagrin.

Such a funny, clever and sweet story.  I found the characters to be entertaining and their banter was just plain funny. When things get serious the sexy parts are nice too.  I give this book a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP for the whole set!  Get your copy today!
