Review: Sail Away by Celia Imrie
Sail Away - Celia Imrie

The phone hasn’t rung for months. Suzy Marshall is discovering that work can be sluggish for an actress over sixty—even for the star of a wildly popular 1980s TV series. So when her agent offers her the plum role of Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest in Zurich, it seems like a godsend. Until, that is, the play is abruptly cancelled under suspicious circumstances and Suzy is forced to take a job on a cruise ship to get home.

Meanwhile Amanda Herbert finds herself homeless in rainy Clapham. The purchase of her new apartment has fallen through, and her children are absorbed in their own dramas. Then she spots an advertisement for an Atlantic cruise and realizes that three weeks onboard would tide her over and save her money until her housing situation is resolved.

As the two women set sail on a new adventure, neither can possibly predict the questionable characters and strange dealings they will encounter, nor the unexpected rewards they will reap. Vividly evoking the old-world glamour of a cruise ship—and the complex politics of its staff quarters—Sail Away is at once a hilarious romp and a thrilling adventure.

3 ½ ★

This, for me was the perfect summer read. Set on a cruise ship, exploring the world and enjoying the sun.

I really enjoyed this book, and most of everything about it.

I really liked the characters and they seemed real with real problems and easy to relate to.

The story was fun and easy to follow as well and I enjoyed it a lt. There were quite the few laugh out loud moments in the book that made me look silly reading in public. I may or may not have snorted a few times

The setting made me feel like I’m right there with them in the ship. Enjoying the cruise along with the fun and a bit of mystery.

As I said overall I enjoyed the story a lot but there were a few ones that just dragged on a bit too much and could have made shorter.

Also there were a few “funny’ moments while funny, they also seemed a bit forced and just didn’t come over too well. But overall it was a great fun and very enjoyable summer read.

I rate it 3 ½ ★

Love it!!
Sunset Sail: The Caliendo Resort-Emma Caliendo - Shannyn Leah

Shannyn Leah has done it again! Sunset Sail by Shannyn Leah is captivating from the first page to the last. I love sassy, snarky women characters and Ms Leah has delivered! Emma and Grayson's story was such fun to read that I read it all in one sitting. The characters in this book are well developed and my favorite thing about the book. Ms Leah has added plenty of humor, drama and spice to round out this fantastic story. I loved reading Sunset Sail, the humor was outstanding, and I look forward to reading more from the talented Shannyn Leah soon. Sunset Sail is part of The Caliendo Resort Series and By The Lake Series but can be read as a standalone. I suggest reading the other books also so you don't miss any of the fun.  This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Raven, Sword & Sail (Encircled by Gold Book 2) by Leah Grant
Raven, Sword & Sail - Leah Grant

The saga continues for Riikka Toivonen as she finds life with her Viking husband is nothing short of a hot roller-coaster ride. Fitting into Viking culture has had its moments and some of them pretty scorching as Riikka discovers a whole new sensual side of herself. She has only one regret, but she knows she has to find a way to make peace with the fact that she was forced to leave without saying goodbye to her best friend, Lucy. Or does she?

When Riikka tries to get a message to Lucy in modern times, she has no idea what events she’s put in motion. When three messengers arrive with news of plague, war, and a demon, life gets tossed like a ship in a storm. There are many choices to be made, but she isn’t alone. With Thorstein’s love and strength they can sail through anything—together.

My Review:

This was a book that totally had me yummy nom nom -ing almost the entire way. I love Grant's sexy vikings. They're hot, they're tough, they're hella crazy hot sex-y between the sheets. You get the adventure and the heart that comes with romances like this.

I love that you get the testing of the relationship the stages of emotional growth that go along with it all that make you want to root for the HEA all the to the end.

By the way carry an extra pair of panties, this one will get you wet.

To Sail a Darkling Sea
To Sail a Darkling Sea - John Ringo So the start of this book was a bit problematic, what with the 'split' officer being forced to give it up to her compartment mates. I must be naïve, it took me quite a while to figure out what the hell a 'split' even is. So points for educating me, I guess?

Anyway the rest is pretty cool - blah blah fight zombies epic battles blah. Excellent fun. Really enjoyed it!

Still with the pop culture references, which make my day every time.

Sail
Sail - M. Mabie Sail - M. Mabie So Grant was not that good after all.....
After reading book one I was not sure if I wanted to continue reading this series or not but now I am glad that I did. This one has a light-hearted tone and an epic ending which will leave you wanting more, although no cliffhanger.
Casey and Blake are finally getting what they wanted... A relationship. The are trying to be completely honest with each other and giving themselves a chance to move forward. As the spend more time togeher they grow closer, they realize how much they have missed and how much the want to have a proper relationship... The only trouble is that Grant is refusing to sign divorcd papers and until that is done Blake will not be comfortable to take the big step because Casey deservs better..
