... Cherry Pop (Mercury Rising Book 3) Samantha Kane 4 Star Review
Cherry Pop (Mercury Rising Book 3) - Samantha Kane

It was supposed to be for fun. But his kiss said forever…

Ben Heston followed his job from California to Mercury, North Carolina after his boss fell head over heels, crazy in love. Ben welcomes the change at first, still reeling from a bad breakup. The move is meant to be temporary. That is, until he meets Tripp Lanier.

Tripp was born and raised in Mercury. His family owns a local construction business and he’s next in line to take over. But as much as he loves his family and his job and his little hometown, there’s something missing in his life. When he meets Ben, he realizes what that something is.

Tripp is ready to embrace his newfound sexuality with the object of his desire. Ben, not so much, because he doesn’t believe Tripp is really gay. But Ben can’t resist the chemistry that explodes between them whenever they’re near.

Ben begins to love all the things Tripp loves about Mercury: night trains and tall trees, family, friends and sweet Cherry pop. Just when Ben begins to think he might be Tripp’s Mr. Right his past comes calling and old hurts and new fears might be the one thing that could keep them apart.

Review

I really love this series and I so hope there will be more.

Ben's and Tripp's romance is wonderful. Tripp is steadfast and Ben is adjusting to believing in a happily ever after. They are both great characters and this is a good love story with just enough conflict and a whole lot of I really like you and sexy times.

The small town is still winning as is the circle of friends.

A delight and a comfort read.

Jacked Up (Birmingham Rebels #3) by Samantha Kane Review
Jacked Up: Birmingham Rebels - Samantha Kane

Linebacker Sam Taylor feels like a ticking time bomb. He left the army with emotional wounds as fresh as the scars on his back. Sam’s been living like a monk, but his best friend, defensive lineman King Ulupoka, wants to get him laid. Easy for him to say. The larger-than-life Samoan is a hard-bodied, tribal-tattooed fantasy. Sam agrees, under one condition: King stays to watch.

ER nurse Jane Foster is done being a good girl, and nothing says wild like picking up two of football’s sexiest players and bringing them back to your hotel room. Trouble is, she can’t decide which one she wants more. Sam is hot, sweet, and vulnerable. Jane’s more than willing to ride him into oblivion. But King’s intense gaze from across the room promises that the best is yet to come.

Sure, King has had his choice of girls and guys in the past. That doesn’t mean he’ll jeopardize his relationship with Sam over a case of locker-room lust—until a naughty nurse pushes them both out of their comfort zones. Seeing Jane and Sam together turns King on more than he ever imagined. If they’re game, he’s ready to tackle a three-way play.

Review

This book is scotching hot and Sam, King, and Jane are wonderful. This is a healing book for Sam and Jane gets to come into her own.

King is my favorite character with his big sunny personality but he is the one we get to know the least.
I needed much more of his backstory and just time with him.

A great erotic read. Kane never disappoints with touching stories and really sexy times.

Review: Misconduct by Samantha Kane
Misconduct - Samantha Kane

Having survived a roadside bombing in Afghanistan, Carmina moved to Birmingham to be close to her best friend (and only other survivor) and to get away from her overprotective family. Now that she’s gotten on her own two feet, Carmina is ready to try dating, and sex, again. Rebels’ rookie, Tom, is the perfect man for the job, but she also can’t stop thinking about Tom’s best friend and roommate, Danny. Not sure how to proceed, Carmina rely’s on Tom’s help to move forward.

After nearly giving up on this series after the second title, I have to say I have rather enjoyed the last two books. Misconduct explores the aspects of a ménage within the confines of a safe and mostly accepting community. While it’s the fourth such book in the series, the story of Carmina, Danny, and Tom’s relationship is its own. With Tom as the only one ready to explore his deepest fantasies, it takes a while for the trio to form.  I like that Ms. Kane allows both Carmina and Danny to express their reluctance and fears over a non-traditional relationship, with Danny agitated and angry over unwanted advances. There is no sudden “flipping the switch,” making everything all good. It takes time. It gives the entire situation a realness that wasn’t present in the first two books of the series.

I also appreciate that the focus of Misconduct is the budding relationship and connections between Carmina, Danny, and Tom. Yes, this is a football book, and the author puts her characters in the game. However, while football is the setting for the book, it isn’t a guiding force over the romance, as it was in the first two titles. Sharing the interpersonal impacts of the ménage, rather than the impact to the team, creates a more heartfelt story.

I like that the romance and sex scenes are driven by the characters and their desires, rather than the other way around. This is more of a “slow burn” romance, in that it takes some time for the trio to work out. However, it is still smoking hot - just give it time.

It could have been just another ménage story with lots of sex, but Misconduct is so much more. The author take time to develop solid characters who dictate the storyline. Outside the fame and football, Danny, Tom, and Carmina are real people, fearful of opening up and accepting something outside the norm.

My Rating:  B, Liked It

Surprising
Misconduct - Samantha Kane

This book is #4 in the Birmingham Rebels series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  To avoid spoilers and better understand the series, I recommend reading in order.

Carmina is best friends with a popular football player.  He has introduced her to many others in the sport.  She finds herself attracted to two men.  She cannot decide if it is possible to choose just one.  Both Tom & Danny are attractive to her physically and emotionally.

Tom & Danny are roommates and teammates.  They never saw themselves fighting over a girl.  When the worst occurs, neither is willing to walk away from their friendship.  Can they figure things out as things heat up?

This series is a joy to read and a challenge to sometimes understand. Love is love, however, and it is interesting to see what acting on an attraction can show you are capable of.  These characters compliment each other so beautifully, that it makes the reader sigh with joy.  Fits the series just perfectly also.  I give this book a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Broken Play (Birmingham Rebels) - Samantha Kane Football and well other balls makes for a MMF Menage Sports Romance and a great one at that.
