Wrong Place. Wrong Time. Wrong Man – yet he made her feel so right.

A prim and proper high school teacher

Recently divorced Bethwyn Banfield just wanted one out-of-character night on the town, and the tall, dark, tattooed stranger she meets is not what she was looking for. But their instant, electric attraction is undeniable.

The cop with a bad boy past

WASP Team Undercover cop Damon Nyhuis has spent two years infiltrating the notorious Notechi Motorcycle Club, doing whatever it takes to remain in deep cover. But when he sees his high school calculus teacher in a bar looking as hot as she did thirteen years ago, the last thing he is thinking about is his job. And that turns out to be the biggest mistake of his life.

A race through the desert

Kidnapped and dragged to the middle of nowhere, Beth and Damon must escape the murderous Notechi – but to do so is only the beginning of their ordeal. The desert is vast, desolate and unforgiving, and the Notechi are right on their heels.

Their passion as hot as the sun

In the cool of the desert night they run, but in the lethal heat of the day they must rest – and quickly, lust becomes so much more.

First, they must make it home. But then – can there really be a future for the teacher who wants her own family, and the cop who makes certain he’s always alone?

Let's start to say this is a brand new author for us and we really enjoyed our first read by them. The story had great characters's and the story started off with a bang and right from the onset had you enmeshed right into the suspenseful plot.

Beth a school teacher is feeling a little bit lonely after learning her ex is moving on decides its time for her to move on as well and decides she is due for a night out.

Damon has a crush on Beth for years and see's her out in a bar and decided to make his move and play out  all those fantasies he has had of her for years but, Damon has secrets and without willing draws her into his tangled web secrets.

This couple had some major chemistry and they sizzled together for sure but, things are complicated and they are trying to save their lives but, can't seem to keep their hands off one another just making the situation even more complicated but, a whole lot of fun. lol

I always pick a favorite character and for me it is going to be Beth. I loved Beth from the onset of the story just because she surprised us at every turn with her actions and deeds because she is nothing like we expected.I found her to be sexy, smart, level headed and easy to love because she was full of so much kindness and love.

Damon we found him to be broken and someone who never has been able to move on from his past and even though he has risen above it he feels he is no good for anyone let alone an angel like Beth.We will say that we liked how Beth got him to start examining his life up to this point and perhaps he could be capable of more life changes because he has been surrounded by such utter chaos for sometime now as well as being surround by such filth of humanity that it is starting to effect his personal life where he decides he is not deserving of more.

Overall the plot was filled with tons of suspense and drama and an undercover operation that goes a rhy but, two people find love where neither expected under the most horrendous circumstances. And the saying holds true for this couple that you can find love in the most usual places. The story had the perfect mix of romance and suspense and drama and the story did keep you on a bit of and edge the entire time to keep you glued to the pages to the very end.

The story did not end with a cliffhanger but, the story is not over yet because there are a lot of unanswered questions  and a mystery to be solved and a mole to undercover.

As a first time reader I would definitely read more in this series to see what happens next.

His gaze flicked back to her. Again, it did all those things to her insides that a man like this wasn’t supposed to do.
“Well,” Beth said, irritated – with herself, mostly. And unfairly, at him, for not being the man she’d needed to meet tonight. “What do you want then?”
Something shifted in the man’s gaze, and there was a hint – a hint – of a curve to his lips. Nothing more – she couldn’t imagine this man being the type to smile easily.
Immediately she realised her mistake.
Whoops.
“That’s easy, honey,” he said and stepped closer.
Which was actually really close, because they were both standing in the space between two bar stools. If she took a deep breath, her breasts would touch the cotton of his shirt.
Beth held her breath. To avoid touching him? Or in anticipation of what he was going to say?
“I want you,” he said, his voice a pitch lower now. Rough and intimate. “I want you, and I think you might want me too.” Another pause. “Do you?”
How had he known to ask that?
How had he known if he’d told her she wanted him, she would’ve been out the door and into an Uber before he could blink?
But he hadn’t told her anything. He’d asked.
She was falling into his gaze again. His sexy, confident gaze. Oh, he knew. He did. He was cocky, and he had swagger. He had all of that, and he possibly – probably – used this line on a new girl each week. Maybe each night.
But did it matter?
He’d asked and given her control, and damn if that didn’t make this even sexier.
Because it was sexy, to stand here beneath the appreciative gaze of this man. To feel his heat so close. To be drawn to him by the zing of physical attraction, and to just know deep down inside her that he wanted her. More than that, he wanted her bad. His gaze had moved from her eyes now to explore her face, then down, down, to explore what he could see of her body, given how close they stood together.
Which was pretty much just her breasts, although only now did she realise how conservative her outfit actually was. Would it have killed her to have popped open a few more buttons? To flash a bit of cleavage?
Not that this man seemed to care.
She didn’t even care that he didn’t want her for her intellect, or her personality, or all those things that should matter – did matter – most of the time. All of the time, actually, for Beth. Except tonight. Except now.
She didn’t even know his name, he didn’t know hers, and she honestly didn’t care. He was all wrong in every possible way, but then all of tonight had turned out wrong – and the way this man was making her feel felt so good. Felt so right.
Like despite what she’d told herself, he was exactly what she needed.
But, she realised, it was still hard to actually say the words she needed to say.
She swallowed, then licked her lips.
That snapped his attention back to her face, specifically to her mouth.
Oh, wow. The way he was looking at her, the way he wanted her, it was impossible to resist.
She leant forward, deliberately letting her body brush against his, her nipples tight and hard behind the lace of her bra. She stood on tiptoes so she could murmur in his ear.
“Yes,” she said.
He turned his head, and now they were so close they were practically kissing – their lips almost perfectly aligned. “Yes, what?” he prompted, as if he had to be sure.
She closed her eyes. She needed to be sure, too.
Did he know that? How could he?
“I want you,” she said, barely more than a whisper.
But clearly, it was enough. It was all he needed.

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Larissa Ione comes a new story in her Demonica Underworld series…

It’s been seven months since Cipher, an Unfallen angel who straddled a razor thin line between good and evil, woke up in hell with a new set of wings, a wicked pair of fangs, and a handler who’s as beautiful as she is dangerous. As a laid-back cyber-specialist who once assisted guardian angels, he’d been in a prime position to earn back his halo. But now, as a True Fallen forced to use his talents for malevolence, he must fight not only his captors and his sexy handler, but the growing corruption inside him…before the friends searching for him become his enemies and he becomes his own worst nightmare.

Lyre is a fallen angel with a heart full of hate. When she’s assigned to ensure that Cipher carries out their boss’s orders, she sees an opportunity to take revenge on those who wronged her. All she has to do is appeal to Cipher’s burgeoning dark side. But the devastatingly handsome fellow True Fallen has other ideas — sexy ideas that threaten to derail all Lyre’s plans and put them in the path of an approaching hell storm.

Danger and desire explode, even as Cipher and Lyre unravel a sinister plot that will fracture the underworld and send shockwaves into Heaven itself…

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do. **

“Ione has made a major name for herself with her amazing Demonica series.”

~ Romantic Times Book Reviews

Let's start of by saying this is one of my favorite authors and anything she writes I just love she definitely and auto buy author for us and we are really loving this on going series and its character's. Cipher and Lyre are one of my favorite character pair especially after this current story as they turned out to be perfect for one another.

Cipher who was once an angel now Unfallen and soon to be True Fallen is coming into his own powers. He is trapped in another dimension and is being tortured over and over again to again access to information that could effect hundreds of lives but, more is in play than just that and he needs to escape before he breaks and betrays the ones he loves.

Lyre is Ciphers handler tasked by Bael to extract the information he wants at any means and she decides she is up to the job to further her own wants and desires to enact her own revenge of the wrongs done to her.

We loved this story from cover to cover. The story was gripping and suspenseful and had wonderful evil character's.We loved Cipher from the onset of the story and that he fought as hard as he did to protect the ones he loves.

A friendship was forged in the pits of hell and now Lyre is examining her own choices that she's made and fines she no longer needs to seek the vengeance on those who wronged her so long ago.

We loved Cipher and Lyre as they had some major chemistry going on between them and I found them to be perfect one another even with all the obstacles standing between them.I love the fact that Lyre was able to retain her sweetness and kindness living in and living with such evil on a daily basis. We loved how she was willing to make great sacrifices in order to help Cipher in preserving his secrets.

Cipher I found to be sexy as sin and no matter his dire circumstances retained his sense of humor that made us laugh out loud more than once.Lyre was just one of those character's that there is more than meets the eye than what's is on the surface as she has learned to mask her feelings and keep her secrets.

Overall we really loved this story it was packed with action and adventure, was intriguing, had tons of drama, healing and finding love in all the wrong places. The story kept me glued to the pages the entire time and we loved the character's both good and evil.

Conceited (Crimson Elite #3) - T.L. Smith

Let's start off by saying this is a fairly new author for us and we really enjoyed our second read by them .The only thing we disliked is we wish that the author had written and Epilogue. I strongly dislike authors that end books just like this author did as we love seeing a glimpse into the future especially if the romance was a rocky road to get to a happily ever after.Just a personal pet peeve of mine.

We really loved the character's Ariel/Raven and Falcon (love their names) they were a lot of fun and both of them had vibrant personalities which we love.Falcon the man whore who has women falling at his feet and then you have the feisty Black haired raven who is mouthy as all get out and we loved her sassiness and her spunk as she made us laugh time and time again. Raven's character's was a hoot ! We found her to be strong, successful, smart, independent, caring funny, and one of those women who doesn't even know her own sex appeal."We loved her from the very beginning!"

Falcon-We love his name! We found Falcon to be way to cocky for his own good, sexy as sin ,was confident ,had this dangerous aura than surrounds him, is dangerous but, he could also be playful and tease but, not one who gives up the chase quite so easily.

We love the other character's as well like Darby,Echo,Creed all had different personalities some of them light and funny, others all serious like and others dark and dangerous. We loved Tracey and Chad as they livened things up and were tell it like it is kind of people the perfect friends who will have no problem giving you a kick in the a** when you need it. grinning.....

The plot was a lot of fun we loved the cat a mouse chase going on between these two Falcon and Raven ,we loved their banter and we even loved Falcon's cockiness because his antic's really made us smile throughout the whole story. We loved to that we saw that he had some vulnerability to him and the whole relationship was a new learning platform for him. That saying is true for Falcon "When the Fall they Fall Hard " because his besties new he was in love even before he did or at-least they suspected it because of his actions and deeds .Raven and Falcon had some major chemistry for sure and just one taste of one another will never be enough but, with these two stubborn and strong willed people will never make falling it love easy but, their journey will gives us tons of laughs and smiles along the way.

Some favorite quotes of ours from this story

"Stop stealing my kisses.” … “Those kisses are being begged to be stolen. So, I’ll keep stealing them each and every time.”

"He told me he wanted me to be his first, last and everything in between.”

"Falcon is like a fine wine, while you have him you have to savor him.”

Overall the story was quite enjoyable and we loved getting to know all the character's and we can't wait to read Darby's,and Creed's story. This was one fun read that was full of tons of chemistry and had really hot sexual interludes as well as making us laugh out loud time and time again.I really think we are really going to love this series. We recommend the read to all ! We are looking forward to reading more of this author's works !

Let's start off by saying I am really loving this Saga series and the more books I read from this author the more I fall in love with her works. For me all her books are just totally awesome and once you start reading on of her books you won't be able to put it down. This author is going to be known as the Queen of Mafia Romance before you know it !

I have to say that this series kept you glued to the pages the entire time as things were constantly changing and the danger kept getting even more real but, this time around even more was on the line .The story was emotional ,heart wrenching, intriguing but, was full of tons of major players for us to interact with and get to know and fall in love with.We loved how complicated a family this large could be with all the ups and downs with all those different personalities but, at the end of the day they loved one another and new that family came first in all their eyes no matter what differences, tiffs etc

Cross was my favorite character hands down ."I loved him from the onset of the story!"  and I have to say that I was a little bit in love with him myself. We loved everything about him the good and the bad.

Cross & Dante both fit this description of them we found them to be sexy, caring, loving, determined, some really big brass balls, bad*sse's in their own right, creative, intelligent, a planner, down right dangerous if crossed, sneaky and sly, possessive, protective of all those they loved but, for Cross we loved those personal sacrifices he made time and time again for the sake of love.Dante -we loved this meddling Dad whether his actions were good or bad they was always made in the name of love.Let's just say I had a big crush on him as well.

For me one of the most touching things that happened for me is learning what that shadow box represented to Cross and Catherine and how much these two had endured and had to overcome and be together but, through all their obstacle this couple represented what true love is all about.Cross and Catherine were just explosive together whether in bed or out of it.The chemistry between the two was off the charts and extremely hot and as the saga progressed thing just kept getting hotter and hotter .

Catherine was so much more than just her upbringing.I have to say that she surprised us more and more as the story progressed and we saw this protective tigress just blossom and the lengths she went to protect those she had come to love.

For us this family saga rocked! The stories had tons of romance and some really hot erotica love scenes, had constant drama, a ton of surprises as well as tons of twists and turns along the way and the story that was a totally intense.I loved the lengths this couple was willing to go to be together and the sacrifices both of them were making to forge and life together. We also loved each and every character's in this series as you could not help being intrigued by each of these self made man but, most of all we loved at the end of the day they loved their family above all else and when they found the one women to share their life these men love their women fiercely.

We can't wait for the next new release to come out and we highly recommend checking out this author mafia books because everything I have read so far we have absolutely loved and they have been awesome reads.

We are loving these mafia romance books more and more.Overall this family's Saga was one of the best I have read to date and as a reviewer you could just go on and on because their was so many things I could list about how much I really loved this family's Saga and its character's.

Shadow - Bob Woodward

So far, I have read two books off the list: Last of the President's Men by Bob Woodward and Playing with Fire: The 1968 Election and the Transformation of American Politics by Lawrence O'Donnell. I got lucky and found in really good condition a copy of All the President's Men by Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward in the free book swap area of my library.

Next up is getting to 1968 by Mark Kurlansky and The Making of a President 1972 by Theodore White. This will set me up to reading about Watergate during the summer and giving me time to tackle Shadow from September to December.

____________________________________________________________________

Inspired by the podcasts Slow Burn (season one) from Slate and Bagman by Rachel Maddow, I decided to do a deep dive into the Nixon administration, specifically Watergate.  I already read the Nixon/Ford section of Clint Hill's Five Presidents just to get my feet wet. I may not get to all of these, but I hope to read enough to have a good grasp on what happened.

My Nixon Reading List:

1. 1968: The Year that Rocked the World by Mark Kurlansky

2. Playing with Fire: The 1968 Election and the Transformation of American Politics by Lawrence O'Donnell (Read March 2019)

3. The Making of a President 1972 by Theodore White

4. Nixonland: The Rise of a President and the Fracturing of America by Rick Perlstein

5. All the President's Men by Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward

6. Last of the President's Men by Bob Woodward (Read January 2019)

7. The Nixon Defense: What He Knew and When He Knew It by John Dean

8. Breach of Faith: The Fall of Nixon by Theodore White

9. Shadow: Five Presidents and the Legacy of Watergate  by Bob Woodward

10. The Nixon Tapes 1971-1972 by Douglas Brinkley and Luke Nichter
