Girl Who Lived Twice
The Girl Who Lived Twice (Millennium #6) - David Lagercrantz,George Goulding,Simon Vance

Sixth installment in the Millennium series; third continuation by David Lagercrantz. I have a soft spot for Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander and do enjoy catching up with them, even when they don't 100% "feel" like their Larsson selves. Is it just me, or is there a pattern of "Blomkvist tries to find/reach Salander, who is hard to find and takes a while before she bothers to read/respond to his texts/emails/messages. And after a while, they finally meet up again, and their plots come together"?

There are conspiracies and cover-ups. There is a confrontation with Lisbeth's evil twin Camilla. The details almost don't matter, because in my head, what I ultimately care about is the Blomkvist-Lisbeth interaction.

The plot lines kept me interested, the narrative moved quickly, and the ending was fairly satisfying, but I wanted something more.

Sherlock Holmes The Definitive Collection - Arthur Conan Doyle,Simon Vance

I finished the second Holmes novel "The Sign of Four" today and while the mystery in this novel isn´t one of my favorites, I completely adore Toby and Mary. And Watson being in love never gets old.

The Prestige (Audio) - Christoper Priest,Simon Vance

Gosh, I´m so creeped out by the ending. Even more so this time around, because Simon Vance´s narration added a whole new layer of creepiness to it.

This being a reread, I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time I have read it. I find this story about two competing magicians and the repercussions of their feud absolutely mesmerizing.

And here I thought I remembered THE major plot twist and now it turns out that this isn´t even the biggest mystery in the story to begin with. Or is it?

I just love how this book messes with your mind. Is anything real in this narrative or is the author performing one huge sleight of hand trick for the reader?

Even though this is a reread for me, I´m still as enthralled by this novel as I have been the first time around.

Sherlock Holmes The Definitive Collection - Arthur Conan Doyle,Simon Vance

Just finished "A Study in Scarlet" and I have to admit, it will never be my favorite Sherlock story. I always have the impression that these two widely different narratives don´t fit together and that there is a disjointed feel about this novel.

What I realized for the first time during this reread, though, is the psychological terror that is going on in the Utah chapters. I really appreciate that Conan Doyle didn´t shy away from the dark side of religious fanaticism.

3 Stars.
