This audiobook looked mildly interesting when I borrowed it, but Lorelei King's reading isn't much better than the computerized text-to-audio function, so I could hardly even pay attention to the content. I didn't listen to enough to rate it. DNF after 10 minutes.

Fazit:
Einstieg und Ende des Buches konnten mich überzeugen und haben mir gut gefallen; der Einstieg konnte auch definitiv mein Interesse wecken. Leider geht es dann etwas bergab, der Großteil des Buches geht sehr schleppend und zäh voran - es ist "mühsam" weiterzulesen und oft musste ich mir dafür die Motivation erst suchen.
Ich finde, das Potential dieses Buches konnte leider keinesfalls ausgeschöpft werden.
Zum Ende hin, wurde es dann wieder etwas besser - im Großen und Ganzen konnte mich das Buch aber nicht überzeugen.
| Interesting story about two boys named Wes Moore, born in Baltimore around the same time. One starts dealing drugs, is in and out of jail and prison, and finally receives a life sentence for the murder of a cop during a robbery. The other has problems and is acting out but has adults who step in to guide him although the choices are hard. I liked how the contrasts between their lives were shown at different years of their lives. The similarities were also shown. Both could have gone either way but the one had a community of family and friends who stepped in and did what they could to help. The other felt alone. His older brother, Tony, tried to protect him and keep him out but since Tony was doing the same things he didn't listen. He did try to get out of the drug dealing as an adult but the pressures on him pulled him back in. This is a good read. |

This was definitely a page turner. It seemed like there was a new suspect on every page. However, the real suspect never even crossed my mind as one.
Davie Richards is trying to find out who murdered a 19 year old Russian girl who is found dead in the L.A. sewer system. She's only been in the States for a few months, but she has definitely learned the fine art of lying. She has told so many lies that when it comes time to find her killer, it just makes it that much longer.
Not only is Davie trying to solve this murder, but some big wheel is trying to reopen an earlier case of an office involved shooting in which she was cleared because he lost a case against her dad several years earlier.
This story is pretty fast paced and most certainly kept me interested. I did not want to put the book down not spend time talking with anyone who chose to interrupt me. Entertaining, enjoyable and very well written.
