5 stars

It was completely unexpected. I’d never imagined he would come into my life. From the moment I met him, I knew there was no going back. He made me feel things I had never experienced before:

I was floating on air. Nothing could touch me with him by my side. He became my everything.
I’d never expected my life to change upon walking into the Devil Souls MC. At first glance, I almost fell on my ass, and I knew I had to have her. She was everything I never knew I wanted, and hell if that didn’t stir something in me. Adeline gave me something I had been missing my whole life:
I’m the retired president of the Grim Sinners MC but, in the end, you never really leave. The Devil Souls and The Grim Sinners clashed and were brought together to fight the biggest battle yet.
We had to protect our families at any cost.

I really don't know where to start with this review other than to say the minute Smiley looked up from his phone and into Adeline's eyes and said "Your having dinner with me tonight." I fell head over heels in love with him.
Warning-This story touches a lot on subjects such as abuse, rape, torture, prostitution , vengeance, pain suffering and trauma all this things that happened in Adeline's past that lead her to having PTSD and nightmares.
Before reading this story you need to read the other stories in which Adeline was introduced to  get the full background of the horrendous life she had lived prior to this book.
(Recommend reading Techy at least first)
I love a book like this all about second chances especially when you think that it is a not possibility and that your never going heal from your past but, it is possible when you have the love of a large mc family named the Devil Souls.
Most MC's do not co-habitat unless its with their affiliate chapters but, Adeline's daughter is the old Lady of one of the Devil Souls members and Smiley's daughter is married to a member also so the MC family for Adeline is a combined one. That's one lucky Gal!
This time around its hard to pick a favorite but, I have no choice than to pick Smiley hands down !
What made the choice for me to pick him was that Smiley at every turn surprised me not only with his deeds but, with his overwhelming protectiveness and kindness and love that he showed his woman as well as his children and grand-children.I loved how patient and kind and gentle he could be but, he had a whole other dangerous side to him where he put the fear in god in most people.
Omg! Just thinking about the pain ,suffering and torture Adeline endured her entire life broke my heart each and every time her past was brought up.She became a women to be admired for her strength kindness and courage and the determination to survive the horrors she endured and still walk away with a mind intact, this alone was a milestone in her recovery of taking her own life back.
I loved the nicknames they had for Adeline but, most of all I loved how the entire club of children called her Gigi and they all loved her as much as she did them.
I loved the romance between Smiley and Adeline and how it slowly developed and just by Smiley giving her experiences she had never thought she would have and making some of the little things she wanted to enjoy out of life come true we watched a small miracle of this women being re-born.I loved being on her journey of healing and finding herself once again.A character that you could not help but love as she was nothing but goodness personified.
For me the most heart breaking moment and turning point in the story for me was the moment Adeline aka Gigi stepped out on that beach with all those children in a two piece bathing suit. These children all saw her as their grand-mother and vice versa but, for me I saw a moment in time that Adeline had finally let go of her past once and for all.
All in all we loved the story from cover to cover.I loved the little miracles that occurred throughout the story as well as god interventions and his little gifts as some would say this just made the story more endearing and more lovable.
Recommended read to all who can handle a book with the subject matter as this one had !
P.S. My final thoughts would be I would want a guy like Smiley to have my back each and every time .Adeline was full of so much kindness and goodness that she not only had Smiley at her back but each and every member of both The Devil Souls and The Grim Sinners....
My kind of Gal!

Book Review: Torch (Devil's Souls MC #1) By Leann Ashers
Torch - LeAnn Ashers

* This review got very ranty so be on the look out for spoilers.

This book read like an erotica novel and that made no sense to me considering this is categorized as 'romantic suspense' on Amazon. I'm a newbie to the genre, but the few books I've read in this category don't compare to this novel. I don't understand how this got categorized as suspense because there was nothing suspenseful or mysterious about it. Everyone had answers to almost everything and most times it resolved itself in 5 seconds or less.

I wish I could say this book was plot driven, but that would be a lie. Most times it didn't even seem like this book had a plot line. The few problems that would be brought up would get resolved five pages later.

The idea of having a blind heroine was incredible to me, but the overall story ruined that somewhat. It seemed like after she met Torch that her life just stopped. There was no real threat, but she moves in with him (he kind of "kidnapped" her) and doesn't mention her career ever again. I did enjoy the way the author wrote the novel with her being blind. It kept my imagination flowing until the end.

Torch was one of the characters I most liked in this novel. He was very caring and sweet toward Kayla, but anytime someone breathed too close to Kayla he would get angry and make them pee themselves. I understand he was this bad*ss guy, but after the second time he did that it got exaggerated and gross.

Spoilers Ahead

The ending felt too rushed and perfect. By that point everything except Kayla's vision had been resolved. She gets surgery done to correct her vision even though in the beginning she mentions that every doctor she's gone to has told her it's irreversible. I didn't like how the author basically gave away the future of the children as well. In my humble opinion, it would have been better to release tidbits and built hype for the following books in this series by teasing that part of the book and not giving it away completely.

End Of Spoilers

I do plan to give this series another chance because I did enjoy the author's writing style (though I wish she would use more contractions) and what little story was embedded in this novel. Though had I known that the synopsis meant that there were actually going to babies and pregnancies (and have it not just be a far off dream of the heroine, which was how I interpreted it) I would have passed on this story in particular.

My Favorite Quotes:

"You are more than what happened to you. You are more than all of it. Don't let it control your life, because that means he would be winning."

"Just because I have a disability doesn't mean I have to be treated as a lesser person."

"Family doesn't have to be blood; family consists of the people who would take a bullet for you and love you."

Torch - LeAnn Ashers description

Just a little caveat before I begin my review, see that graphic above that states "ARC GENEROUSLY PROVIDED IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW"? I take that VERY seriously. If I don't like a book I am not going to LIE because I was given a 3 dollar book for free. I would hope that the author would understand when you put your work out there that not EVERYONE is going to like it.

I am simply ONE person with an opinion and that is mine to express. Messaging me (just to be clear it wasn't the author who messaged me) to tell me I clearly have NO clue what good writing is, doesn't reflect well on YOU nor the AUTHOR, so cut it out...OK off my soapbox now...

I honestly don't even know how to begin with this review. I was SO excited to read this one, but NOTHING, not ONE single thing worked for me with this book.

The insta-love didn't work for me AT ALL.. Literally, ten pages in and their relationship was a done deal. I get this was one of those "insta" books, but a LITTLE bit of relationship build-up would have been nice. The dialogue was CHEESY. Kayla was ridiculous. I guess she was supposed to come across badass, but she just came across like a bad b-movie character. These bikers had to the pussiest group of bikers I have ever run across.

There were also a plethora of OTT ridiculous situations in this book. The book was basically sex scenes and stupid OTT baddie situations. And that ending...well that was a GIANT ridiculous cherry that topped this hot mess for me.

Unfortunately, this was just a HUGE miss. I did finish it, so I am giving myself a pat on the back for that...
