Great suspense!
Deadly Justice (New Orleans Connection S... Deadly Justice (New Orleans Connection Series Book 6) - Kathy Ivan

Deadly Justice by Kathy Ivan is a romantic suspense you won't want to skip.   Ms. Ivan has delivered a well-written book.  The characters are outstanding and lovable.  Samuel is an ex DEA agent, framed by his friend and left for dead.  Andrea is entangled in Samuel's hunt for the man that framed him.  Their story is packed with drama, action, sizzle, suspense and humor.  I like the way Ms Ivan twisted Andrea and Samuel's story together.  I enjoyed reading Deadly Justice and look forward to reading more from Kathy Ivan soon.  Deadly Justice is book 6 in the New Orleans Connection Series but can easily be read as a standalone.  This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Goddess, Inflamed (Goddess Connection #2) by Cate Masters
Goddess, Inflamed (Goddess Connection Book 2) - Cate Masters

I am so in love with this series.  I love the characters and the way the various other entities interact with them.  They are all brought into the modern world and to life with such amazing personalities and motivations.  Lily is a dancer - yes the exotic type that uses a pole.  But she doesn't do it just because it's a good way to make money.  The music calls to her and if she doesn't dance she will probably go crazy.  Her life changes on her 21st birthday when some very interesting men enter her life.

Brodie and Zev are about as different as they could possible be.  It's to be expected when one is an angel and the other a demon.  But they both want Lily.  She is a very special person with some tough decisions to make.  As her life is turned upside down, she is thrown into a spiral of confusion that was incredibly well written.  She knows what she wants to decide, she just needs to find the courage to do so - and stay out of all the traps set to keep her where she doesn't want to be.

There were lots of surprises in this book as her lineage is slowly revealed.  I loved exploring all the skeletons in the closet of Hades' and Persephone's family.  There are quite a few of them, and we all love a good bit of juicy gossip.  The end was a fantastic adventure with just enough action to get my heart racing paired with some wonderful moments of true love.

The characters in the series are so real, I almost expect to run into them on the street some day.  It just seems natural that they are a part of the "real world" and we just don't know it yet.

Goddess, Awakened (The Goddess Connectiong #1) by Cate Masters
Goddess, Awakened (The Goddess Connection) - Cate Masters

Joss is a very powerful woman, she she doesn't really believe it. When she buys an inn on top of a ley line all hell breaks loose. A demon has targeted the vet down the road and seems to be intent on harvesting some souls. Joss's power may be all that can protect the small town and keep it from being destroyed.

Joss was an interesting mix of confidence and doubt. She is sure that her inn will succeed and that her special recipes featuring lavender will be a big hit. On the other had, she doubt her family history and her strength to love again - even when signs point to Eric being the love of her life. But Eric isn't safe - he's been put in the middle of the battle between the goddess Isis and her family and the minions of hell.

I loved the mix of mythology in this one. Several more minor characters were mentioned and it was great to see them have even a tiny bit of the spotlight (I especially loved Tisiphone). There is a ton of adventure and there were times I thought Cate Masters wouldn't be able to pull off a HEA because things were so crazy. There is a pretty great battle scene that I couldn't tear myself away from.

What I like best about both characters was their desire to make life good on their own. They weren't necessarily afraid to ask for help, but they wanted to try and save themselves first. Now if only they could realize they also had each other.

Rum and Ginger by Eon de Beaumont
Rum and Ginger (The Connection Series) - Eon de Beaumont

4 Hearts

The Connection 01

Review written for MM Good Book Reviews

Ben is the manager of T.C. McFlannigan’s, it isn’t a job he ever aspired to have but he followed love back home, now though even his relationship seems to be strained and opening up about his dreams doesn’t get the support he hoped for. With Chance seeming to drift further away Ben makes new friends who he doesn’t have to hide his sexuality with and one of them, Brodie, encourages Ben to seize his dreams. When Ben discovers Charlie’s betrayal Ben also discovers that he has more support than he realized, he draws closer to Brodie and the dream of opening his own gay bar.

This is a great story of fading love and discovering new love, of following your dreams and making new friends. Ben has never been happy hiding his relationship from the world, but Charlie is too scared of his family to admit to being gay so Ben is forced to live in the closet if he wants to keep his lover. Now though, years later, there seems to be something wrong with their relationship and when Ben discovers what one of those things is, he walks. Meeting Brodie sparks something in Ben that has been missing for a while and resurrects the dream he once had of opening his own bar.

I was pleasantly surprised with this story because it has two relationships in it, for the first half of the book it is Ben and Chance and how they have drifted apart and mistakes being made and the relationship failing, and then the second half of the book is Ben getting his life on track and the budding relationship between Ben and Brodie. Even though there is a break up it isn’t too angsty or heartbreaking, there are hurt feelings but it is more the realization that they had fallen into a rut and something different tempts them.

While both Charlie and Brodie play large parts in this story we still only know the basics about them, we don’t get to understand why Charlie did what he did and we don’t get to know Brodie as well as we could have. The secondary characters really add something to this story, Lena with her party-girl attitude who always has a drink to hand and Derek with his newly bachelor state trying to fill his time with drinking and girls and not wanting to be alone. We see more than just a romantic relationship being built, we see friendships new and old and family ties being strengthened, we see a man finding he has more than he thought he did and his hopes for the future. The new relationship between Ben and Brodie starts off as friendship and because of that their relationship when they get together doesn’t feel rushed.

I recommend this to those who love moving forward with your life, developing new friendships and relationships, forgiving the past and embracing the future, some hot sex and an ending that is a beginning.

True Connection - Rachel Walter True Connection... Where do I even begin? I was excited for this book as soon a it was brought to my attention. It's a new adult book which like most readers are totally loving at the moment. However what really got my attention was the supernatural aspect of the book. It's been a while since I have read a book that has anything to do with the supernatural world... This is mainly due to the fact that most New Adult books are contemporary romance... I am so not complaining! I love a good romance, but lately I feel like I have been in a bit of a slump. True Connection had totally save me from my reading slump and reminded me of why I love books with just a little bit more then a good romance. Right off the bat I loved the relationship between Jazzy and Henry. They are super close, best friends, but considering what they have gone through I'm glad they had each other. Then there is Seth... Seth is the super hot guy that a lot of people think is a little weird, but for some reason Jazzy is inexplicable drawn to him. Their replay kinship although definitely not easy is super cute to follow and I loved learning about Seth's history, and what exactly is going on. But to be honest, Skeeter was my favourite character in the book... She was just so genuinely nice. When Jazzy first meets her, she came across as kinda mean girlish... But I quickly got over that feeling. Oh and Skeeter an Henry?! Yea I totally need that story ASAP! Of course a book that involves supernatural beings can't be complete without the bad guys... Enter Derik, he is the star quarterback at Jazzy and Henry's new school and he is a complete douche! He thinks he I gods gift to the female population and everyone should be honoured to even have him speak to you, let alone *gasp* ask you to sit at his lunch table! But Jazzy was having none of you *you go girl!* she totally put Derik in his place in a very funny way! Little did she know what she was brining onto herself though. True Connection had so many great characters and I wanted to know more about all of them... I got little bits here and there about Henry and Barry, but I need more! This is definitely a book I will recommend to anyone who lives a good supernatural book. It is also yet another author I will be putting on my 'Must read new books now' list (god that list is getting long!)
