The Last Olympian - Rick Riordan

I probably enjoyed this one just as much as the others.

I like Rachel's fate. I like the fate-themed twist at the end. I like the promise the gods made at the end.

I thought it was weird how they handled the spy situation. Every once and a while they'd be like, "Well, this sucks. We have a spy." "Oh, gee. The spy must have revealed our secret to our enemies. Bummer." "Gosh darnit, that spy." But they never seemed interested in figuring out who the spy was, nor did they try to.

And don't think i've forgotten about the use of Hercules/Heracles. If i ever meet Rick Riordan, i'm going to have to ask him about that.

Review: Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan
Percy Jackson and the Olympians 5 Book Paperback Boxed Set (New Covers W/Poster)[PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS][Paperback] - RickRiordan

Goodreads summary:

Because the summary of the last book (Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian) will give you spoilers, I decided to give you all the links of my reviews of the previous books in this series. In my review of the first book you'll see a summary too. Here are all the links:

My opinion:

I like the conclusion to this series, but that's all I can see about my opinion. (If I could still rate in in comparison to the rest of my ratings of this series I would give the last book 3.5 stars). This series is just a series that you either love or just appreciate, and I ''just'' appreciate it. I admire Rick Riordan as an author and he has done an excellent job creating this world, especially with all the mythology in it, but it was sadly enough my cup of tea (anymore). I know it's middle grade and mostly I don't mind reading books when a character is much younger than me, but I honestly think that this series really is for middle grade readers (I know older reader love it too though, but sadly enough not me). The thing for me was that I just don't like fantasy stories that much anymore (which I already knew, but I still wanted to read it). I still recommend it to everyone who (still) likes to read fantasy and/or about mythology. I just wished I read it when I was a lot younger.

What is your opinion about this series?

The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #5) by Rick Riordan
The Last Olympian - Rick Riordan

Okay, so, I think this last book was just COMPLETELY INSANE.

I didn’t like Nico in The Battle of the Labyrinth but I liked him in this one. Also, the Gods, like before are all just being so completely unreasonable.

Like, did Hades really need to try and kidnap Percy so that Nico could fulfill the prophecy?

(spoiler show)

I think the ending was pretty decent. But I just expected the prophecy to be more.

Like, one of the three children had to decide whether or not to give Luke the knife? If Percy wouldn’t have given Luke the knife then Kronos would’ve gotten out? Also, side note: LOVE how Luke was so concerned with Annabeth’s love. Too late, now, buddy.

(spoiler show)

Pretty good ending, just expected a teeny tiny bit more. :)

The Last Olympian - Rick Riordan

Percy and the gang certainly have come a long way since The Lightning Thief. I waited for a long time before reading starting this series, because I tend to avoid books that get a lot of hype. But eventually, I caved and read it. And I'm so glad I did.

Some of the battle scenes got dull after a while, but I'm so happy with the ending I don't even care. The war was won, Kronos was defeated for now, the gods are trying to be better...things are good, but there's mor adventures to come. And Percy and Annabeth! I'm not too fond of this pairing, but I like how they have such a chemistry and are so close and such good friends.

Overall, I'm really happy with the way this series has progressed, and I can't wait to read more. On to Heroes of Olympus!

The final showdown between Percy and Luke
Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian - Rick Riordan

The story is still a bit formulated, as the underdog fought their survival.

So Percy takes on risk and try to get a fighting chance.

The story progress with the not fighting with the full team as the in-fighting continued as if they are still teenagers. As the adults are tricked away to fight another great god/monster Typhoon, the real battle is now fall on the shoulders on inexperience teens.

The inconsistency on the details bothered me a little. Percy supposed to have healing power with water. So when Annabelle got injured, why not just heal her with that?

Anyway, the whole book feels like a teen movie on Disney channel. So the characters seems really smart and mature when it comes to fighting battle, and act like preteen idiots when it comes to romance.

Come on. Percy is supposed to be almost 16 now. In real life, he would have at least taste beer, and have sexual experience already. So why make him blush over a kiss? He should have act much like he is new at this, but watched enough porn to know what to do.

Anyway, still a nice enough story so far.

4 stars.
