Yeah, I think he botched it. It's a little hard to say since elements of it seem fairly accurate, but the change to Emma's abilities, the questionable casting decisions, Miss Peregrine's behavior in general...I think it botched it.

Maybe it's too early to tell but I'm not feeling to confident at how this is looking. Like, the fact that Burton calls Miss Peregrine "a scary Mary Poppins" really worries me, because I don't think that's a very accurate way to sum her up. And I really, REALLY don't like their casting decision for Bronwyn. She is not a little girl, she's one of the older kids.
I'm sure it'll be a fun movie. It has a great cast. I just think it'll be a loose adaptation and these pictures don't give me much confidence that it'll be true to the source material. We'll have to see.

4.5 stars!
Can I just start off by saying how freaking beautifiul this book is? The design is just so amazing, this book is a work of art!
A very fun, interesting, unique and mysterious read.I really love the way the eerie vintage photography contemplates with the story and adds on to the overall creepiness. I did have a few minor problems with it,some things I didn't like, but they're not that important and don't change my opinion on this book when I say that it is absolutely fantastic! The beginning was a bit slow, but I was hooked to the story either way.Everything was on point, the unique story line as well as the characters, the atmosphere, the creepy aspect of it... I regret putting this off for so long and I can't wait to read the sequel! Highly recommend!

Been waiting for Seventh Son for a while now. They were at Comic-Con last year promoting it. Which is rather worrisome, if they keep putting it off so much. Then again, I'm still waiting for that adaptation of Joe Hill's Horns to make it to theatres or DVD, sighs.
This was a book that I really wanted to like given all the positive media and reviews, but I found it to be slow reading, especially at the beginning of the book.
I have posted my full review of this on my blog, The Itinerant Librarian. Click on the link to read the full review and check it out. My review is a bit mixed. While I liked it (barely), I can certainly see the appeal factors, and I bet other readers out there will enjoy it better. So check it out and decide. If you do, let me know. Comments are open.
