Till Death Book Review
Till Death - Jennifer L. Armentrout

I really enjoyed this one, as I usually do with Armentrout. This felt much more mature and very different from her usual paranormal romance series. Its one of my favorites by her and I want her to write some thrillers. Yes there was romance, but I loved the kidnapping story line and felt hooked from page one.

Sasha has returned home for the first time in years. Her mom is happy she's home as is her best friend. But everyone still remember's her as the survivor. The one who got away from the groom. And now someone is terrorizing her, a women goes missing in Frederick and Sasha can't help but wonder if coming home was the right thing to do. But seeing Cole makes it all worth it.

I love the relationship of these two characters. Another reason I really enjoy Armentrout's books is because she's local and I know all the locations in her books (at least when they aren't in paranormal scenes.

Super fun and super hot. A quick read but just what I needed to get out of a reading slump.

Till Death
Till Death - Jennifer L. Armentrout,Sarah Naughton

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I grabbed Till Death, but JLA is usually a 1 click author for me! Till Death is a stand alone romantic suspense about a girl who was nearly killed by a serial killer known as the Groom. The story starts 10 years after she managed to be the only living survivor of the killer. She has come back to her hometown in West Virginia and is trying to reclaim her life and her dreams.

Sacha is a very interesting character. She was raped and beaten while held captive by the killer and she is the only survivor. As soon as she healed from her wounds, she packed up and moved away to try and escape the constant reminders. For 10 years she never came back to WV. But, her dream has always been to run her family's Inn. She is determined to get her dreams back. She also left behind Cole, her boyfriend at the time of the abduction. He is still in town as well and comes running as soon as he hears she has returned. Cole is super swoon worthy! He is probably my favorite thing about this story!

So, once Sacha moves home, strange things begin to happen to her, and other women are abducted. The new killer follows the Groom's pattern. There are several red herrings to try and keep you guessing as to who the killer is and there is no shortage of suspicious people! There is the coach at the high school, the really rude mayor, and more. Honestly though, I found the identity of the killer to be VERY obvious. I guessed it quite early on. So, while that wasn't the suspense that kept me reading, I did still wonder if the killer would get to Sacha and if she would survive. There is a little bit of totally unnecessary relationship drama thrown in at one point that just pissed me off. It was just sort of like "Oh hey, here is this big thing I have been keep from you even though I know you are not sure about our relationship as it is". Totally just added drama when they didn't need to be any.

Overall the story was engaging! I was sucked in because I wanted to see how it all played out! Even though I guessed the identity of the killer early on, there are still lots of questions that had to be answered and that suspense and tension kept me reading/listening!

The audio is great. Its narrated by a female and she doesn't 'over do' the male voices. She was easy to listen to and didn't distract me from the story! Thats the best kind of narrator!

  • POV: 1st (Sasha)
  • Tears: no
  • Trope: mortal peril, second chance romance
  • Triggers: Sacha's time with the Groom is mentioned in flashbacks; she is raped and beaten
  • Series/Standalone: stand alone
  • Cliffhanger: no
  • HEA: yes with a nice epilogue

Till Death and Beyond - Lyn C. Johanson

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book. I haven't heard of this author and she reached out to me to see if I would be interested in reading her book. The premise intrigued me so I gave it a shot and I am glad I did. The premise was interesting, a witch who has been reincarnated multiple times and has lived for centuries stuck doing the will of the gods. She is strong yet doesn't always see any hope and freedom in her future though she desperately wants it. Raven is a jaded man bent on vengeance against witches and driven to cure his tortured brother. The last thing he expects is to fall for a witch and have his views on what a witch is supposed to be like questioned. The villain in this story is fate; will she be doomed to repeat one life after another powerless against the goddess that controls her. There is a demon bent on manipulating all involved to get what he wants, a goddess determined to stop a prophecy no matter the lives she has to destroy, an ancient witch who wants the prophecy fulfilled so she can be reincarnated, and finally Venlordians who are witch hating humans. The plot is full, there is action, drama, passion, and well-developed characters that carry the story from beginning to end. My only negative was at the very beginning it was a bit difficult getting my barring as to what the goddess actually wanted her to do, her next mission wasn't clearly stated so I spent a chapter or two trying to follow what was going on and where the action was heading. But once Raven enters the scene and I get wrapped up in the tension between the two of them, I really didn't much care about the mission she was supposed to be on because they fed the story and pulled me into their turmoil and attraction.  I was pleasantly surprised how well developed the plot was and how much I enjoyed reading this book. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance.

WOW!
Till Death (#1, Logan's Lonestar Heroes) (Volume 1) - Becky McGraw

Till Death by Becky McGraw is a phenomenal read!  This well written book is loaded with action, drama, humor and smokin' hot sexy bits.  Ms McGraw has delivered fantastic characters that make this book a joy to read.  Dave and Susan's story is an entertaining read from start to finish.  Till Death was such a great read I've already bought the next two books in the series.  Yes, it was that good!   I loved Till Death and look forward to reading more from Becky McGraw soon.  Till Death is book 1 in the Deep Six Security Series but can be read as a standalone.  This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Review: Till Death Do Us Part
Till Death Do Us Part: A Collection of Newlywed Murder Cases - Rj Parker,Aeternum Designs,JJ Slate,Hartwell Editing

I randomly saw this book online and decided to purchase it, and it was an interesting buy. A true crime novel, this is a collection of stories about newlyweds who are murdered during the first year of marriage. In all cases, there is overwhelming evidence that the spouse is the one who committed the murder, or paid someone else to do so. However, even with evidence, there are a few cases where someone who you suspect is a killer walks free.

JJ Slate does a good job at providing the evidence in a form that is both interesting and straight-forward. While the stories are slightly biased against the (suspected) murderer, it's difficult not to let the emotions of the grieving families and their frustrations reflect in the writing.

Overall, this is a well-written and researched collection of tales of when the honeymoon ends early... or perhaps never started at all.
