The Ghost Exterminator
The Ghost Exterminator - Vivi Andrews

Jo is a medium who sees ghosts and it able to help them "transcend." Wyatt is the business man who hires the company she works for to deal with his "ghost problem." Jo and Wyatt are complete opposites. This was laugh-out-loud hilarious in places. While, I liked Jo right off the bat, Wyatt was an uptight asshole. It took some reading to gradually like him too.
Well done, entertaining. I liked the supporting characters too. Karma is intriguing and hopefully she gets her story too. I especially liked Angelica and Teddy.
Off topic, but the the publisher of this book, Samhain Publishing, is closing. (So I went and bought some titles I've eyeing with a giftcard I got). They are still paying loyalties and rights will (gradually) be reverting back to authors. (Unlike some other publishers that have ceased operations).

As I was making this list of Opposites Attract in Paranormal Romance Novels, I noticed that  my favorite writers use this theme a great deal (Shelly Laurenston and Robin Owens) and it may explain why I like thier books so much.

It was a struggle to pick just one book from my favorite author that best embodies the theme but I did my best!

Enjoy these Paranormal Odd Couples!

My lists are never in any particular order.

1.  Big Bad Beast by Shelly Laurenston

Ric Van Holtz is more than he seems, nothing you expect--and everything you want. . .

When it comes to following her instincts, former Marine Dee-Ann Smith never holds back. And this deadly member of a shifter protection group will do anything to prove one of her own kind is having hybrids captured for dogfights. Trouble is, her too-cute, rich-boy boss Ric Van Holtz is making it real hard for Dee to keep her heart safe. He's wanted the fiercely independent she-wolf from day one, but he never expected their teamwork to be so explosive. Now is his last chance to show Dee what she needs isn't some in-your-face Alpha male--but a wily, resourceful wolf who'll always have her back in a fight. . .and between the sheets.

2. Heart Quest by Robin D. Owens

Tucked away in the Druida City of Celta, Trif Clover knows she has a HeartMate. She wants him so badly she’s actually going door-to-door with her charmkey to find him. What she doesn’t know is that he has already found her. Guardsman Ilex Winterberry knows that Trif is his HeartMate, but fears that being twice her age, with a short life ahead of him, he will only scare her away. He yearns to be close to her—and she needs to be close to him. There’s a killer on the loose, stalking those with unstable Flair psi power like Trif’s. Facing his most difficult task yet, Ilex must reveal the truth of their destiny or else leave Trif in the grasp of a vicious murderer...

3.  Vampires Never Cry Wolf by Sara Humphreys

Vampires are nothing but trouble...
As far as beautiful vampire Sadie Pemberton is concerned, werewolves shouldn't be sticking their noses into New York's supernatural politics. They don't know jack about running a city-not even that hot-as-sin new vampire-werewolf liaison who's just arrived in town.

Werewolves are too sexy for their own good...
The last thing Killian Bane wanted was to end up in New York City playing nice with vampires. Unfortunately, he's on a mission, and when he encounters the sexiest, most stubborn female vamp he's ever met, he's going to have to turn on a little of that wolfish charm...and Sadie's going to learn a thing or two about what it means to have a wild side...

4. Tinker by Wen Spencer

Inventor, girl genius Tinker lives in a near-future Pittsburgh which now exists mostly in the land of the elves. She runs her salvage business, pays her taxes, and tries to keep the local ambient level of magic down with gadgets of her own design. When a pack of wargs chase an Elven noble into her scrap yard, life as she knows it takes a serious detour. Tinker finds herself taking on the Elven court, the NSA, the Elven Interdimensional Agency, technology smugglers and a college-minded Xenobiologist as she tries to stay focused on whats really important her first date. Armed with an intelligence the size of a planet, steel toed boots, and a junk yard dog attitude, Tinker is ready to kick butt to get her first kiss.

5. Finder's Keeper by Vivi Andrews

True love? For neuroscientist Dr. Mia Corregianni, it’s just an unproven hypothesis. But when she loses the heirloom watch her family believes is enchanted with a potent love spell, she fights superstition with superstition by hiring a psychic finder to track it down.

Chase Hunter is a human compass, homing in on whatever the seeker wants most—that is, when he isn’t surfing or actively avoiding anything resembling a real human attachment. Such has been his life since an accident took his family.

Unfortunately, Mia’s case isn’t a simple insta-Find. The catch? To disguise his real mission from her romance-crazy family, he has to pretend to be her boyfriend. He could deal with that if her complicated emotions weren’t blocking his abilities—or if her innermost desires weren’t walloping him upside the head every time he opens himself to his gift.

As the case wears on, their fake romance begins to feel all too real. Scary stuff for a man who’s reluctant to let himself live again. And a woman who doesn’t believe in magic…or love.

6. Driving Mr. Dead  by Molly Harper

Miranda Puckett has failed at every job she’s ever had. Her mother just wants her to come home, join the family law firm, and settle down with Jason, the perfect lawyer boyfriend. But when Jason turns out to be a lying cheater, Miranda seizes on a job that gets her out of town: long-distance vampire transportation. Her first assignment is to drive vampire Collin Sutherland from Washington to sleepy Half Moon Hollow without incident—no small feat for a woman whom trouble seems to follow like a faithful hound dog! And she has to do it without letting her passenger—the most persnickety, stuffy, devastatingly handsome vamp she’s ever met—drive her crazy. As she and Collin find disaster on the roads, they also find an undeniable spark between them.  Could Miranda have found the perfect job and the perfect guy for her?

7. Seduction of the Phoenix by Michelle M. Pillow

A prince raised in honor and tradition, a woman raised with nothing at all. She wants to steal their most sacred treasure. He’ll do anything to protect it, even if it means marrying a thief.

Prince Zhang Jin is a man raised in honor and tradition, so it is a great surprise when he is compelled to claim a stranger as his bride who has neither. Francesca La Rosa is hardly a match fit for a prince. Though beautiful, she is a thief with one thing on her mind--stealing the sacred Jade Phoenix of his people. But the mystery doesn't end there. With the aid of the spirits of his ancestors he must discover who this woman is, why she would destroy the Zhang Empire and most of all, if she could ever return the love that is growing in his heart.

8. Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh

In a world that denies emotions, where the ruling Psy punish any sign of desire, Sascha Duncan must conceal the feelings that brand her as flawed. To reveal them would be to sentence herself to the horror of "rehabilitation"--the complete psychic erasure of everything she ever was...

Both human and animal, Lucas Hunter is a Changeling hungry for the very sensations the Psy disdain. After centuries of uneasy coexistence, these two races are now on the verge of war over the brutal murders of several Changeling women. Lucas is determined to find the Psy killer who butchered his packmate, and Sascha is his ticket into their closely guarded society. But he soon discovers that this ice-cold Psy is very capable of passion--and that the animal in him is fascinated by her. Caught between their conflicting worlds, Lucas and Sascha must remain bound to their identities--or sacrifice everything for a taste of darkest temptation...

9. Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward

A former blood slave, the vampire Zsadist still bears the scars from a past filled with suffering and humiliation. Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savage feared by humans and vampires alike. Anger is his only companion and terror his only passion—until he rescues a beautiful female from the evil Lessening Society.

Bella is instantly entranced by the seething power Zsadist possesses. But even as their desire for each other begins to overtake them, Zsadist’s thirst for vengeance against Bella’s tormentors drives him to the brink of madness. Now Bella must help her lover overcome the wounds of his tortured past and find a future with her...

10. A Hunger Like No other by Kresley Cole

A mythic warrior who'll stop at nothing to possess her . . .
After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he's waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.
A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy . . .
Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents -- until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae -- and their notorious dark desires -- ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.
An all-consuming desire . . .
Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?

Did I miss your favorite? Let me know! This is one of my favorite themes so I am always looking for more.

Tangling with the Tiger
Tangling with the Tiger - Vivi Andrews

Tangling with the Tiger (Lone Pine Pride #5)by Vivi Andrews

Siberian tiger-shifter Dominec Giroux doesn’t play well with others. Horribly scarred by the Organization scientists who killed his family and tried to turn him into their pet assassin, his sanity has been hanging by a thread ever since his escape.
His one reason for living—revenge. But when he snaps during one of the shifters’ strikes against the Organization and goes on a killing spree, it doesn’t go over so well with his pride mates.
As the only female lieutenant in Lone Pine Pride history, Grace Calaveras has a lot to prove, and a lot on her plate. The last thing she needs to deal with is Dominec’s brand of crazy, but until she can get him under control, she’s his babysitter.
It would take a miracle for these two to find common ground, but when they’re sent on a mission that could impact the future of every shifter in the world, lioness and tiger form an uneasy alliance…and unleash an attraction that could be their salvation. If it doesn’t destroy them both.

My Review:
I thought it was particularly funny that I related so much more to Dom than I did Grace because his emotions are so extreme but personally I could feel for the things he thought and wanted and the pains he suffered emotionally. Mentally Dom has a way of thinking that really steered me through the entire book and even with his need to consume and put his mark on everything including Grace it wasn't the way it seemed but a more desperate way of holding onto something when you feel like you're going to lose it. I felt bad for him and I liked that Grace had just the right amount of determination to see things through with him. Tangling with the Tiger is adventurous, its sexy and just the right amount of dangerous to hook you in.

My Rating:
4 Stars

ARC Review: Unbearable Desire by Vivi Andrews
Unbearable Desire (Lone Pine Pride) - Vivi Andrews

Unbearable Desire is the fourth book in Vivi Andrews Lone Pine Pride series. After reading and enjoying Andrews’ Serengeti Shifters series, I was pretty excited to dive into this one.

Over a decade ago, Moira had a brief fling with Hugo, a fellow bear shifter. When he invited her to join the Lone Pine Pride, she had believed that he was inviting her to share his life. Her hopes were dashed when she arrived on his doorstep a week later. Hugo hadn’t meant to give Moira the impression that they would be together, because his heart already belonged to another. Despite the rejection and humiliation, Moira decided to stay with the pride and to build a life for herself. Over ten years later, Hugo is starting to regret his decision but isn’t sure how to go about mending fences.

Unbearable Desire is about crushed expectations, which is one of my favorite tropes. When Moira first met Hugo, she had dreamt of a happy future with him and quickly found that she had put the cart before the horse. Hugo, for his part, let the idea of a grand forbidden love blind him to any other relationship. I liked that both parties were, essentially, in the wrong and that Moira didn’t spend all the intervening years pining away for Hugo. While she’s still attracted to him, she has ruled out the possibility of them having a relationship. So, she’s a little baffled and pretty bitter when Hugo suddenly seems to change his mind after all these years.

I only wish this had been a little longer to give Moira and Hugo more time to work things out and ease into the relationship. Things were pretty rushed once Hugo decided to pursue Moira, with a lot of things happening in quick succession. The pacing made the catalyst at the end feel like a rash decision for Moira, rather than one she came to naturally and would stick to. While I felt Moira may regret her decision, I was positive that Hugo wouldn’t. Andrews did an excellent job of showing Hugo get closure with his long term obsession.

All in all, Unbearable Desire was a great quick read. If you like Vivian Arend or Dana Marie Bell, you’ll find something to enjoy here.

Hawk's Revenge (Lone Pine Pride)
Hawk's Revenge (Lone Pine Pride) - Vivi Andrews

I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Samhain.

I totally have to read the first books in this series because it totally kicks ass. I absolutely loved Hawk's Revenge, its fantastic. Vivi Andrews does a well enough job filling in readers on the backstory so that readers new to the series can understand and follow along with the plot easily enough without being too lost. I am so thrilled that Adrian and Rachel finally get the confrontation and the resolution I anticipated. Hawks Revenge is full of mystery and suspense and a unique spin on paranormal romance that you don't usually find in stories such as these. Adrian and Rachel are steamy and sweet and I like the dynamic of their personalities clash as they learned and opened to one another and found through their trials that there was more than met the eye in each of them. I love all the sweetness and the romantic interaction it totally melts the heart.
