Wolf Pack by C.J. Box
Wolf Pack - C.J. Box

The Joe Pickett series is one of my favorite series I read.  I can never put an order to what my favorites are, but a new Joe Pickett comes out, it is my next read.  Hopefully, none of my other favorites come out at the same time.  That would just be pure hell.

Without getting into spoilers, wolf pack has different meanings other than just being the title.  At the end of the last book in the series, The Disappeared we find Joe fired from his Wyoming warden job by the Governor, but this being a Joe Pickett series, former Governor Rulon sees to it that Joe gets his old job back, along with a scandal for the new Governor and Joe gets a new boss.  He gets his old district back, his old badge number and a new truck and house since his old house had burned down due to arson.  These aren't really spoilers because you learn this in the first few pages of the book.

If you want to know about what the book is about then read the book cover.  Box comes up with things probably no other warden would ever come up against.  One thing about Box is that he is not the best writer you will come across.  Where he excels at is that he is a storyteller, like Craig Johnson.  His books are never too long, never padded with filler that starts to bore you, he just tells a story about Joe Pickett, his family, and friends.  I can't wait until his next book.

BLOG TOUR, REVIEW & #GIVEAWAY - Wolf Tamer (Claiming My Pack #1) by Yumoyori Wilson
Wolf Tamer (Claiming My Pack #1) - Yumoyori Wilson
Wolf Tamer is the first book in the Claiming My Pack series, and right off, I will say it's NOT Reverse Harem. Not yet. It's leading up to it, but not in this book.

Harper watches her family being murdered and manages to escape, although at a cost. She finds her way into the forest and is found by Wolfie. She is then found by Sam and Dolly, together with Rogan, who put her in the system to see if she can find a forever home away from them. This doesn't work, so she ends up with them, much to little Ian's happiness.

The author tried something very difficult in this book, and that is to have the character change from being a child to an adult IN the story. Not viewing her childhood as an adult, but actually being a child. This is hard because it's a RH book, so you've got to have the innocence of the child, and then steamy, multi-partner scenes later on.

I did enjoy this book, although there were parts that didn't make sense to me. I'm hoping they will in the later books. For example, Ian has the ability to be an Alpha, but can't be bothered even though he and Carter butt heads all the time. He is the one who mated Harper first, and has been her mate for years. So why does he back down so damned quickly to Carter at one point. And who was the strange, disembodied voice?

I also would have liked more character development about Rogan, Sam, and Dolly. All three of these characters are pivotal to the story, but all three sort of fade out until the ending.

On the whole, this was a thoroughly enjoyable book, and I would carry on with the series. Like I said though, for this book, it's NOT a RH.

* I received a copy of this book with no requirement or obligation to review. I voluntarily read this book, and the review here is my honest opinion. *

Release Week Review! Wolf Bound (Pack Bound #4) Leisl Leighton!
Wolf Bound (Pack Bound) - Leisl Leighton

The ultimate sacrifice, a love that lasts forever…

Five hundred years ago, facing extinction, a group of powerful witches united to create a pact with the Were to save witch–kind. The pact expelled an ancient evil, known only as the Darkness, that was blocking the Were from their wolves. With the Darkness destroyed, the Packs and their Covens grew strong as they thrived beside each other in their brand–new world.

But the Darkness was not destroyed.

Shelley Conners has good reason to hate and fear the powers that connect her to the spirit world and the insanity they foretell. But with the Pack's Trickster, Adam McVale, transformed into a Shade, a creature caught between life and death, Shelley holds the only key to saving him. Opening herself up to the world of the dead will only speed up her descent into madness, but Shelley never expects an even darker evil within – the Darkness, waiting patiently for her and the opportunity to destroy the world.

The conclusion to the Pack Bound series is a thrilling read that kept me on pins and needles throughout the book.

All the characters in this four book series are strong, compelling and easily draw readers in their story but I have to say that Shelley and Adam captured my attention from the beginning and Wolf Bound which finally tells their story certainly brings them to full and vivid life. They both have issues that readers can relate to and while they seem to be the most vulnerable, they both have very strong wills and strength of character that keeps readers completely enthralled. Their romance is sweet but so full of obstacles and hardships that the happily ever after outcome that readers are hoping for is held in suspense throughout the book.

Thrills and chills keep the readers on the edge of their seat with anticipation and wonder as the evil that threatens the weres and the witches grows and its plans solidifies into one that if successful will plunge the world into darkness and chaos. There is never a dull moment to be found in this medium to fast paced plot that has lots of suspense building events with all the characters working hard to find a way to stop the evil, but Shelley and Adam’s part in this battle has readers biting their nails during the entire story.

I was looking forward to this book as I have read the previous books and of course was impatiently awaiting the conclusion and I have to say that not only was Shelley and Adam’s story well worth the wait, but the author did a great job of answering all questions regarding the battle they are facing but the final outcome was one that is spectacular, exciting and very fitting for this series and there was no way that I could put this story down until I had read every last word.

Wolf Betrayed (Talon Pack #4) by Carrie Ann Ryan
Wolf Betrayed (Talon Pack) (Volume 4) - Carrie Ann Ryan

Carrie Ann Ryan continues to do a spectacular job with the Talon series.  WOLF BETRAYED takes place following book three, MATED IN MIST.  After helping the heir to the Talon Pack, Ryder Brentwood and his mate Leah Helm, human Shane Bruins is captured by General Keith Montag, who conducts experiments on him.  Shane escapes near death and makes his way to the Talon pack, where they discover that Montag tried to change Shane into a wolf.  Charlotte Jamenson and Bram Devlin of the Redwood Pack are the only two that can help sooth Shane’s wolf.  Meanwhile, both packs are on the edge due to impending war.

I loved hearing Charlotte and Bram’s story.  It broke my heart how they were both so tormented that their bond did not work in the previous book.  All three of the main characters have a lot to process.   Charlotte struggles with her past when she was a member of the Central Pack.  She is not really certain where she belongs. Bram has been hiding his true strength.  Shane’s entire life has changed. He needs to learn how to be a wolf.  All three are dominant.  They have great chemistry.  They help balance each other, making them stronger as a unit.  I love the three of them together.

I enjoyed the plot.  It was fast-moving and thrilling.  General Montag is a dangerous adversary.  The man is demented and truly believes he is a savior.  He does not care how many people he kills.  The story had interesting twists and complications.

Carrie Ann Ryan once again amazes me.  She does an astounding job of growing the plot and characters that started with the Redwood Series.  I’m looking forward to Parker’s, Brandon’s, and Avery’s story next.  I’m curious how Avery is going to be introduced to the packs.

Review - Brand of the Pack by Tera Shanley (Silver Wolf Clan #3)
Brand of the Pack (Silver Wolf Clan) - Tera Shanley

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

***I bought this book last year!

The cover is beautiful :) Love those purple eyes!!

This is the 3rd book in the series and my favorite so far!  I highly recommend reading them in order because it is sequential, and you will not understand references without having read them all.  It is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content.

Grey is definitely awesome!  I just love his character.  Morgan has definitely become stronger and redeemed herself from the last book.  Grey is in quite a few fights as usual.  Morgan is recovering.  I have some questions about Dragon, so I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I recommend this series to all werewolf fans who want to read about unique world with twists of its own!  I’m off to read book 4!
