[REVIEW] The Black Moon Mate by Fallen

The Black Moon MateThe Black Moon Mate by Fallen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Read on October 10, 2014 — I own a copy, read count: 1

Straight-to-Bent. Gay-for-You with an attitude.

Wolf Boys with Cute Flicky Ears

And Swishy Emotion-Traitorous Tails

Abundance of expressive ears and tails are one of my weakness. Just gotta love those honest ears and tail that constantly betrays its owner's emotion. Darn cute! These dogboys have no way of hiding their feelings as their extra appendages have a mind of its own.

Overall I have really enjoyed this story although the writing was amateurish, all thanks to its interesting plotlines. I did observed that the writing improves as the story progresses. But I must confess I am partial to stories that involves wolf pack dynamics, mating and bonding, possessive overprotective males, bratty submissive, sexy manhandling, D/S and of course the mere mention of mpreg would automatically gets me all excite. It's practically a magic word to me. Other than this, all those huge amount of lickings and bitings each other was kinda cute and hot. I liked it.

My complains? I am all kinds of sad that this story was NOT FINISHED and on top of that it was already taken off the website. A pity really. Another let down was that it didn't get to the best part I was waiting for--- Mpreg M.I.A. God damnit!

Me now....

My pleas...

Dejectedly Yours,
Kyn

I like this picture. So I am gonna put it here. Sorry I can't do a proper credit for it cos I have no ideal who is the artist.

For you info this guy here bears no resemblance to our MC as the MC is a red wolf with vivid green eyes minus those stripes on his face too.

Book Blurb/Synopsis-

Growing up on the tough Philly streets, Gwen O'Neill has learned how to fend for herself. But what is she supposed to do with a nice, suburban Jersey boy in the form of a massive Grizzly shifter? Especially one with a rather unhealthy fetish for honey, moose, and…uh…well, her. Yet despite his menacing ursine growl and four-inch claws, Gwen finds Lachlan "Lock" MacRyrie cute and really sweet. He actually watches out for her, protects her, and unlike the rest of her out-of-control family manages not to morbidly embarrass her. Too bad cats don't believe in forever.

At nearly seven feet tall, Lock is used to people responding to him in two ways: screaming and running away. Gwen-half lioness, half tigress, all kick-ass-does neither. She's sexy beyond belief and smart as hell, but she's a born protector. Watching out for the family and friends closest to her but missing the fact that she's being stalked by a murderous enemy who doesn't like hybrids…and absolutely hates Gwen. Lock probably shouldn't get involved, but he will. Why? Because this is Gwen-and no matter what the hissing, roaring, drape destroying feline says about not being ready to settle down, Lock knows he can't simply walk away. Not when she's come to mean absolutely everything to him.

Our Review

I have been reading this series and absolutely love it.I love all the characters and that they all carry on from one book to the next. I find that I really love and like the way that this writer writes. This author has me laughing from the beginning to the end of each and every book.Love the lines that she uses also thinking hum well said.Shelly's sexual encounter scenes a very erotic and very hot along with all the HOT men she has you drooling over wishing that was you  !LOL. The aspect that I like about the book and the series so far is that fact that she mixes all character's together like grizzly bears. she-wolfs, hyenas, wild dogs, tigons (mixed breeds) etc and having those characters search and find their mates among other breeds. The characters are strong , like-able and very protective of others and their mates.Well written and a very enjoyable story. A recommended read to all.

Blurb

Alexis Conner, princess of the Alpine pack and pureblood werewolf, hides a painful secret-she has never shifted. If she can’t shift, she can’t mate, and so Lexi resigned herself to a lifetime of loneliness. But then a stranger arrives, and Lexi senses that her world will never be the same….

A massive avalanche might be to blame for Trystan Hawkes getting stuck at Castle Wulfsiege, but after one look at Lexi, Trystan is not about to leave. Lexi is strong, smart and incredibly sexy. Not that it matters. Tryst is an omega-the fabled lone wolf. Even more damning is his mixed vampire heritage.

Lexi knows that the vampire blood running through Tryst’s veins makes him off-limits, but what if he’s the one man who can rouse her inner wolf?

My Thoughts

Wow ! What a couple of awesome stories I really liked them both. I have to say that I have only read one other book by Michele Haulf and I have to say I really am liking her stories they are inventive and fun.

I loved Trystan and Lexi's story. I loved the backdrop of the story taking place where they were caught in avalanche and there castle snowed in on. Very creative. Can you imagine and bunch of vampires digging out others vampires to find survivors not only that the were hit by not one avalanche but two.

Trystan begin both a vampire and werewolf is not an easy thing. He has grown up away from pack life as many do so when he arrives at Castle Wulfsiege it is everything he has ever dreamed about.Lexi a cold and confidante princess catches the werewolf's eye.

Lexi and Trystan start out a little rocky but, once things started to thaw we were in for the one heck of a ride. Trystan arrived at the castle to deliver a package never knowing he would end up staying.

This was a true love story about one finding ones mate when one was not looking. Both Trystan and Lexi have secrets in there past but, one needs to be and open loving caring person to overcome the odds these two have. They both need acceptance and love from others and themselves.

The story was a cute love story about a couple outsiders finding love in a needle in a haystack as they say .Loved the characters Trystan and loving and caring person who cared about others and Lexi the pack leaders daughter who was a bit uptight learns to enjoy life a little bit more.I was glad to see Lexi become all smiles. The two made and awesome couple.Too total opposites attracted to one another.

The story had a little bit of mystery and romance.I was rooting for Lexi and Trystan from the beginning as these two were doomed from the very start. Not a whirlwind romance by any means but a slow budding one.

Very enjoyable read and a superb ending !

Story two a bonus story for us !

This is Bella and Severo story.A werewolf finding his true mate in Bella a mortal women after centuries of living. Bella and Severo accidentally meet when she is begin pursued by vampires who are trying to end her life. Severo becomes her savior.

Weather Bella wants it or not Severo has become her body guard until her can find the person or persons trying to kill her and why ?

The two characters clashed from the get go. Two strong personalties both wanting to dominate .Both want to be in control. Bella comes from being a strong confidante web designer who is successful and then you have the over domineering wolf with a jealous personality who wants know one looking or touching what is HIS !

I believe that Severo new and suspected Bella was his mate from the very beginning and new it who take some convincing and lots of it make her his.

This story had lot going for it a hot sexy werewolf after you wanting to bed you, your on the run from vampires trying to kill you not knowing why ? When your a miss nobody ! Your best friends is dating a master vampire and finding you yourself dating a werewolf and learning and dealing with all this and that there is a whole other paranormal world out there you new did not exists.Total exhausting !

This was a cute little paranormal love story that had ,mystery, romance, revenge. It had quite the page turner just to see what happens next. Its not the kind of story that you sit on the seat of your pants kind but still an enjoyable one.You want to see a happily ever after but, when there relationship is given a devastating blow will old wounds that still haunt you and never healed be your downfall causing you to lose the love of your life ?

Looking forward to more of Michele 's books and I want to go back and read about Trystan's brother story who is his twin brother taken by Fair-es minutes after his birth and his fathers Rhy's story about how it all began.

A Recommend light fun paranormal read that could be read in a few hours.

Looking forward to future books !

Our Review

Wow ! Just loved it the story had a great plot with really great characters. This story was a page turner from beginning to end so much always going on to keep you fixated to turning the pages. This is a new author to me and I really enjoyed her tale.I am alway happy that  when I find a new author to read that there first book I read is a big hit with me.

I love reading about shifters especially werewolves as they are always hunky overprotective and fierce. And they mate for life making them even more attractive.

This story was about a couple who really loved each other and were destined to be mates until a jealous and vengeful and hate filled man separated them.Leaving both the couple heartbroken and unfilled.

The two main characters were really like-able and easy to relate to.I always have one character that seems to be a favorite of mine in each and every story and mine would have to be Fletcher he was a bit of a tortured sole.Fletcher was forced from his pack and from the women he loved.I found Fletcher to be quite love-able.He was fierce protective and also had many in securities that he was trying to over come.My heart went out to him a boy who grew into a man who never felt that he was loved or even worth loving. So sad you felt his pain and the sadness that surrounded him.You  saw how much he loved his destined mate Delaney and that he constantly ached for and missed her as he never stopped loving her even after he was forced to leave his pack.Fletcher is forced to confront all is insecurities  when a rival packs leader now wants what he considers his.

Fletcher is made some tough life choices and he will need all the strength courage and the love he possesses to win back the women he loves and abandoned so many years ago.Now forced to confront his past and protect his mate from harm he must become the man he always wanted to be or all will be lost.

Delaney had a feisty personality she was fierce loyal protective of the people she loved as well as smart and sexy.Delaney has loved Fletcher will all  her heart and losing him she has always ever known pain and suffering. I really felt Delaney's torn feelings for Fletcher she still loves him but also hates him. The separation for Delaney was even worse because she thought that her mate must be dead as he has been missing for years and has not returned to her .

One of my favorite scenes of the book is what Fletcher does to Delaney to get her to calm down enough to talk to him.I never expected the fierceness that comes from her.In some ways she seemed timid and naive but, turned out to be fierce as any lion.

I was rooting for this couple from the very beginning wanting a happily ever after.I loved there sad tale that lead them to be estranged and then re-united.May love conquer all ! Let both of them be strong enough to fight for there love and destroy there enemies even if that means removing those who have always held your heart.

Another great read with a fast paced plot filled with danger and deceit. The plot was so engaging it kept me turning the pages into the we hours of the morning just to finish.Just got to love books like that.

A Recommended read to all of those who love reading about shape-shifter werewolves and star crossed lovers.Looking forward to seeing  the stories to come from the imagination of this author.

Wolf Packs
Wolf Packs - Richard Spilsbury,Louise Spilsbury Powerkids (a subsidiary of Rosen), subcontracted with British book design team Calcium Creative for this series. Calcium contracts with a long list of the series publishers. This seems like an interesting way to do business. They can put their effort into finding good ideas and making the books, or on getting ideas from other companies' editors and pitching them a concept for the series.

The idea behind the six in this series is animals that travel and work in groups--an interesting science concept to follow (ants, chimps, dogs, dolphins and whales, and lion prides are the others in the series).

While specific graphic designers are credited, this book gets more of the template treatment than original design throughout the book. The designers created a style guide and templates and then manipulated this for each spread. Given the stock photos, there is pretty good variety in what I get to see of wolves in color, composition, and content (the photos on the page about marking territory were unfortunately non-specific ;-) ). Again, I'm surprised at how a focused topic can have such depth in the stock photo library to support a whole book.

The text is unremarkable, but does offer three different levels of complexity--captions (10-15 words), small vignettes (35-40 words), and body text (2 simple paragraphs). The vocabulary and sentences are complex enough to allow for some interest to come from the text, but still very bare bones description with little voice.
