Fate of the Stars
Fate of the Stars - Arwen Paris Fate of the Stars - Arwen Paris Allison Delaney wants just what any other girl her age wants and that is to maybe go the prom, finish her last year of school, go to college, date and maybe forget her junior year when she had her breakdown after losing her father. But all of that may not be possible after a night on the beach with her best friend and her best friend’s boyfriend.

When she returns home the next morning her mother has some devastating news for her that could change her whole life. Oh and that is not all a group of aliens or two groups who are in a war with each other have landed on Earth to continue their fighting. The Ma'tiok is infecting the humans by biting them on the necks and turning them into some sort of zombies.

The other group of aliens wants to help Allison after they find out that she has another alien inside of her that makes her stronger. All Allison wants is to save the human race. So when the aliens tell her she has to go with them on their ship she agrees only if they will help her mom and her friends to keep them safe.

I really loved reading Fate of the Stars it put me in mind of two tv shows Defiance and Dark Skies. Both shows are about aliens that have landed on Earth. In Defiance the humans and aliens all trying to live together and get along. In Dark Skies the people are fighting with the aliens. I loved both of these shows and I kept seeing Fate in the Stars running through my head as if I was watching a movie or tv show while I was reading it. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I can’t wait for the next book in the series or at least I hope there will be a next book and a next book and a next book oh will I guess you get my drift.

I would definitely recommend Fate of the Stars to anyone who loves reading about aliens or watching aliens tv shows or movies. Fate of the Stars is filled with lots action and excitement.

SEEKER: 1 by Arwen Elys Dayton (12-Feb-2015) Paperback - Arwen Elys Dayton

Quin  was fighting a large man she was close to winning. Alistair MacBain was the biggest man Quin knew, and was Quin’s uncle but at the moment that didn’t matter. Seekers did not think when they fought. Quin and Shinoba had started their Seeker training when they were eight and they were both fifteen now. Alistair said they had to prove themselves .John was also training but he was now sixteen but he had got  a late start and didn’t start training until he was twelve. Quin is in love with John Quin and Shinoba take the oath and become Seekers. Quin had trained her entire life to do this , it was her destiny,. Quin will be fighting beside her closest friends Shinoba and John and they will protect the weak and those who have been wronged. But being a Seeker wasn’t what Quin thought it would be like. John is not allowed to take the oath yet. So John goes back to his grandfather's. Brais has something John wants. John attacks Braic and Quin and Shinoba escape but Quin has been shot. Quin’s dad wants power more than anything and has an ancient artifact that John wants.  Shinoba takes Quin to Hong Kong to heal but Quin loses all her memories. Shinab leaves Quin with Fiona who is her mother. Quin slowly starts to regain her memories  At first Quin follow their father's completely. But then Quin hides behind her shell of no memories and Shinoba hides behind drugs. But eventually Quin and Shinoba fight back. Shinoba has always loved Quin but Quin had only cared for John in that way but now they were running from him. Even without her memories Quin knows John is not a good guy and Shinoba is trying to kelp her. So now there is a love triangle.

I have mixed feelings about this story. Some things I liked some things not so much. But it also didn’t WOW me in anyway. This story was slow at times and that was hard to keep me going.as far as reading goes but I did finish this. I also found this story a little boring most of the time. I did like the young dread gave us more history of the seekers and the dreads, this did add to the story as far as I am concerned.  I got confused in this story. I didn’t like the changing POV  so much. I did think that plot was good just somehow didn’t work that great for me in the story. Toward the end of the story things started coming together but by then my rating of this story had already went down a lot.

Review: Traveler (Seeker #2) by Arwen Elys Dayton
Traveler (Seeker) - Arwen Elys Dayton

One of the few times I'm doing an abbreviated review because it makes sense for how much time I spent on this audiobook. Much stronger than the first book, but still quite many flaws. I am surprised by how I'm anticipating the next book in this series. Better focus on worldbuilding in this book, though some descriptions were really repetitious/lacking in term of the portrayal of certain cultures (and some instances were problematic). Characterization varies. Shinobu's role doesn't really have as much distinction as the previous book because he's focused more on his relationship with Quin (or injured), though I liked the parallel with his struggles of power to his former drug addiction. Quin is still a rounded character, but oddly enough, she wasn't the standout character to me in this book. I liked her, and she has some decent action scenes and moments in the book. John's role/struggle is a little more clarified, though he's still a bit odd in presentation. Catherine was by far the strongest character with motivations and painful losses - to me at least. (And her role clarified John's struggles and history much more).

I thought the narrator was a decent fit, but I'm surprised by how inconsistent the pronunciation of Japanese words were. Sometimes she was right on point with the mention of names, but other times, it was like it reverted back to the incorrect word. I wasn't sure why this was and I'll admit I kept mentally correcting it as I listened to the audio (though unfortunately, I don't have the physical book to compare some of the spellings of names - and I should note I speak Japanese a little. Writing the language is a different story, unfortunately, but I'm working on it.)

Overall, a decent read and worth the time, but it had quite a few stumbles in places that I hope are improved in the next book.

Overall score: 3/5 stars.

A Great Start!!!!!!!
Seeker - Arwen Elys Dayton

I really enjoyed this book. John I just am not sure about, I understand why his doing what his doing, but to hurt someone that has never done anything to you and someone that you say you love just isn't right. So I am really on the fence with him.

I really like Quin a lot and I feel really bad for her and what her dad made her do was just awful, and I get why she chose to do what she did. I wish she would have been a little stronger than what she was. I feel that towards the end she did become a little bit stronger.

I also really liked Siobhan (sorry if I spelled his name wrong, I don't have the book by me.) I also wish he would have been stronger as well. Instead of being stronger he turned to drugs instead. He does get stronger but with some help from someone, even though he didn't know this person was trying to help him the way that Siobhan wanted him too.

Then there is Maud, who I am really not sure of. She's always changing in regards to whom she wants to help. She seems to be a good individual.

I also like that there is really no love triangle in the book at least for right now. Quin's dad is really a freaking jerk thats for sure his really a sick and twisted individual that's for sure. I am sorry that I can't remember his name but I think its Barack ( I know I spelt the name wrong.)

I gave the book only 4 out of 5 stars because parts of the book where really boring and drawn out. Plus the characters weren't as strong as I wanted them to be.

I received this book throw netgalley, for the purpose of reading and reviewing the book as well as giving my honest opinion of the book. I even bought the next book in the series to see what happens next. I really want to know if John is really bad or just screwed up and misunderstood.
