Hugo: Best Graphic Story
Abbott - Saladin Ahmed,Sami Kivela,Jason Wordie
Black Panther: Long Live the King - Nnedi Okorafor
Monstress, No. 3 - Sana Takeda,Marjorie M. Liu
Paper Girls Volume 4 - Brian K Vaughan
Saga Volume 9 - Fiona Staples,Brian K. Vaughan

So I started reading them yesterday and I'm mostly done.  On a sunbeam is a web comic (I can't link from work) and I'm making my way through it, I've read the first few episodes and find it interesting.

Again it was hard to choose within an interesting bunch, my favourite was Abbott, ranking the rest was hard.

Eventually I just decided an order but it was work.

Abbott features a female investigative journalist who can see more than she wants to at scenes and a series of grotesque murders.  Stands alone and leaves room for sequels.

Black Panther: Long Live the King - Black Panther at home in Wakanda fighting a creature that is destabilising the country.

Monstress: Volume 3: Haven - this is so pretty, the artwork is very special and the story winds around and keeps me reading.  You need to have read the previous two books before this.

On a Sunbeam is a story of some people travelling around in a spaceship exploring buildings along with some exploration of the past of some of the characters.   Unusual and interesting.

Paper Girls - Volume 4 - this one really needed that I read the rest before embarking on it, lost doesn't quite describe it enough.

Saga - Volume 9 - I've read the previous stories, the artwork is lush and the story interesting, now I want to know what's going to happen next.

Flawless!
BLACK (All the King's Men Book 8) - Dony... BLACK (All the King's Men Book 8) - Donya Lynne,Reese Dante,Laura LaTulipe
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book. This is book 8 in the series, and for this to make much sense, you must, I mean MUST read the others. Because they are awesome, and much happened in those books that is referenced here but not fully explained. And I told you to, okay?? Jumping straight in. Because wooooooeeeeeee! Ms Lynne did throw some curve balls!! Micah found out in Bound Guardian Angel that he has a brother, Ronan and that his father is alive, not dead like he though these 950 years. BUT here?? He founds out much more. He finds out his family tree, who he is related to and how. He finds out that seemingly impossible things really can happen. He finds out the Drecks have been doing much more than making cobalt blue to destroy the vampires, and that he is going to need some help to remove this new threat. Enter stage right, The Lycans! These guys are BIG news, they have been aware of this new threat but trying to contain it. However, Ronan's antics with the ankh he stole from Micah have forced them to come clean. These guys are gonna be an awesome addition to this world, I know it. I'm being deliberately vague in what I'm saying, I know I am but this book is FULL of massive spoilers and I don't want to ruin it for you. But let me tell ya, its an A-MA-ZING read! One sitting, I read it in one sitting. Some things I saw coming, some I did not. Some things came from WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY out the left field. I also saw some pairings, that maybe haven't been discussed before. That I wanna see if I'm right. Can't wait for the next one! Ms Lynne spends a lot, and I mean a LOT of time after writing her books, tidying them up, editing, editing and MORE editing, and as a reader, its frustrating having to wait so long between books. BUT also as a reader, it makes you appreciate the finished product, and this one really is FLAWLESS. All the major players have a say, and ya'll know how much I love that, even the Lycans and they really are so very very different. Can't wait for more of them! Kind of a cliff hanger ending, but in a way only Ms Lynne can delivery. 5 full stars **same worded review will appear elsewhere**

review SPOILER ALERT! 2014-10-19 22:04
The King [J.R. Ward]
The King (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #12) - J.R. Ward

I had trouble getting into this book.  There were too many POVs and too many different plot lines.  Are all the Black Dagger Brotherhood books like this?  I remember that they all have multiple POVs, but I hadn't thought they all had so many plot lines going at once.

This book has at least five plot lines going on at once (some spoilers, fair warning!):

1. Wrath & Beth's disagreement over having a baby,

2. Trez's marriage that he doesn't want (and hasn't yet happened),

3. the kidnapped woman (Sola? Marisol?  She calls herself one thing while Assil calls her something else),

4. Xcor and Layla and that whole mess (are they going to get a book?  there's been UST between those two for a while),

5. the glymera trying to remove Wrath from the throne,

6. John's seizures, which are mentioned and not resolved.  He's been having them for a while, so they aren't new.

The only reason I kept track of all of those (I have a feeling I missed one somewhere) is because I started writing them down about 35% in.  It was hard to really focus on anyone plot or POV because everyt ime I got really interested in the plot/POV, it changed on me.  Is this book just really bad for it or is it standard for the BDB and it's just annoying me anyway?

I am looking forward to the next book, The Shadows, which I think is about iAm and/or Trez given the title.  Not sure, though. (After checking the goodreads page, I'm right.) It's due out April 7, 2015.
