Bob's Burgers: Well Done
Bob's Burgers: Well Done - Loren Bouchard,Ben Dickerson,Jeff Drake,Rachel Hastings

I have a confession to make: I STILL haven't watched the tv show. I know, it's bad. Ever since I once got a single issue of the Bob's Burgers comics I've been told (and also I've really been meaning) to watch the series as I've enjoyed the comics.

I've heard that if you love the series, you will also love the comics. I can add to that: even if you haven't seen the series, you can still have a lot of fun with the comics. It contains sort of constant parts (like Tina's Erotic Friend Fiction and Gene's Musicals) together with some more random parts.

Looking forward to the next one!

Bob's Burgers: Medium Rare
Bob's Burgers: Medium Rare (Bobs Burgers Tp) - Anneliese Waddington,Mark Von Der Heide,Loren Bouchard,Justin Hook,Rachel Hastings,Mike Olsen,Jeff Drake,Ben E. Dickerson,John P. McNamee,Adam Beechen,Brian Hall

At the moment of writing, all I know from Bob's Burgers is still coming from the few comics that I read. I know, I will watch the show some time when I have more time.

While featuring the same parts that were in the previous comics, the one page entries were not in every issue this time. And that despite the fact that I liked these best. They also switched the idea a little from Bob's burger ideas to foodtrucks and Linda trying to take a nice family picture. "Louise's Unsolved Mysteries & Curious Curiosities," "Tina's Erotic Friend Fiction," and "Gene's Rhymey Rhymes That Could One Day Be Songs" remain largely the same.

Overall it was enjoyable but not very memorable. I like to read these between other books. One little problem I had with my review copy is that the quality of especially Gene's part was not very good, which made it sometimes hard to read the text. But I'm sure this will be changed in the final version.

Bob's Burgers Vol. 1
Bob's Burgers Vol. 1 - Chad Brewster,Jeff Drake,Justin Hook,Rachel Hastings,Mike Olsen,Robin Brigstocke,Bernard Derriman,Frank Forte,Tyler Garrison,Tony Gennaro,Kat Kosmala,Brad Rader,Hector Reynoso,Steven Theis,Damon Wong

I still haven't seen the show, my apologies, but I read the first issue of Bob's Burgers some time ago when it came with one of the Humble Bundles. Since I quite liked the first one, I thought why not read the rest of volume 1 as well?

Every issue is divided in five parts, one for every family member. They include various takes on fanfiction, an unsolved mystery and a musical as well as my personal favourites: Burger Ideas and 'useful' inventions. Because these are all cramped into each issue, all the stories end up being very short, but entertaining none the less.

I can't compare it to the series, but I do plan to watch it some time.

Review: Bob's Burgers
Bob's Burgers - Chad Brewster,Jeff Drake,Justin Hook,Rachel Hastings,Mike Olsen

I received an ARC of this title from the publisher via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

This volume brings together the five Bob’s Burgers comic book titles released so far. I can’t see it being of much interest to anyone who isn’t a fan of the show, though it does have a quirky humor that might work for some, even without context.

Bob’s Burgers is one of the best shows on TV. There, I said it. It harkens back to the best early seasons of The Simpsons, when it was more of a family sitcom than a pop culture recycling factory, but with even more heartwarming absurdity. These comics are fun, but they do sacrifice something in print- the voices on the show are one of its best features. The five books collected here are divided into the same five segments, one for each character and in a signature style. Tina’s are “friend fiction,” focusing on her ongoing obsession with horses, zombies and Jimmy Jr. Honestly, they stand out as the best- not a surprise, as Tina is my favorite Belcher (and the internet’s too, I think). Gene’s stories are musical and written in rhyme, Louise “solves” mysteries, Linda writes kooky letters to various companies about her inventions (who wouldn’t want to watch a raccoon reality show filmed in a dumpster?) and Bob makes lists of his signature pop-culture-themed burgers. These are all done with varying levels of success, especially Gene’s segments, since the rhyming is often more gimmicky than funny, but all are clearly done in the spirit of the show and generally enjoyable.

Written and illustrated by contributors of the show, and declared “canonical” as such, fans of the show will have fun with these additional (mis)adventures of the Belcher clan, and enjoy the extra artwork and variant covers in here as well. It doesn’t necessarily bring anything new to the table, but if you just can’t get enough of the Belchers, this one might be for you.

Bob's Burgers #1
Bob's Burgers #1 - Rachel Hastings

I'd never even heard of the series, but I received this short comic book from someone (I honestly don't remember who it was, sorry) when it was a gift from Humble Bundle. And it was a very good gift.

I really enjoyed it. Every family member had his/her own 'sketch' and they were fun. I don't know to what degree it's similar to the series, but after reading this I want to check it out. Especially the one with the musical song was great (since I just love musicals) and I really liked the one 'from' each parent as well. They were very short, but very sweet.
