Room by Emma Donoghue

I personally was expecting a lot out of this book, the plot (before i read it) sounded so interesting! I mean how could it not? it was about a boy who never left this one room. i thought how is this possible? Why is he trapped in a room? Why this room? etc.. 

But i was a little "let down" with this book. 

It still had a great story line

It was beautifully written (Emma Donoghue has amazingly captured the view and writing of a 5 year old) The writing style was probably my favourite part of this book.

It was just missing something, nothing really happened to "Capture" you in this book and i found towards the end it got a little boring and slowly dragged out.

Im not saying i didn't like this book, I did like it. its just not a book i could Rave about and it isn't a book id tell people to rush out and buy. 

Can't wait to see the movie though

So I watched Narnia for the first time in years - I dont recall being impressed with it the first time round, the second time.....

......What?
So I kind of get this movie, and could be totally into it....if i was about 10 and didnt understand logic. As it is, no one in their right frigging minds would give a whole bunch of children the land to rule! and the titles!? Ugh. The Magnificent? really? your going with that?
Let alone the fact a child can't learn to fight with that level of skill (if you can call it that - the sword fighting was just embarrassing) in such a short period of time (saying its magic is just lazy) nor would the boy-king be strong enough to backhand a ....weird talking yak (that looks like it belongs in WOW), on top of that the acting was meh, I'm fairly positive the boy-kind (can't recall his name) blocked a sword strike with his neck at one point O.o even with chain mail you'd be very dead. and I dont think i've ever come across kids who cry as much as these!
though the fawn dude with lucy was pretty adorable. maybe I'm not in the right age group to appreciate this movie, maybe I'm just to logically and not enough whimsical, or maybe it was just a poorly done movie (though i did love some of the graphics on the 'goodsides' animals. The lion eating the bad chicks face! The BEST) I'll still probably read the books - everyone knows the movie is always worse, who knows maybe there's hope yet?

I was a pretty big fan when this movie first came out and couldn't understand why no one else seem to appreciate it. Tonight i watched it again and clearly understood. Australia i love you but you have some shitty actors, lol. << this i have always known, except for a few special people aussies' are not known for their acting skills, we tend to over dramatise it, plus the accent can be cringe-worthy. But even with all that held against it i still managed to tear up during the movie and now i realise why i loved it so much in the first place - it transfer's me back into the emotion when i was reading the books, in the movie you can't understand how difficult it was for Robin to pick up that gun and kill people, but in the books we get that loud and clear, that she had to not only sacrifice a big part of her belief, self values and morals but also a part of her soul to save her friends - i know how far she's willing to go for them as well (it is heartbreaking) and with Corrie, i know that she doesnt survive that gun shot, that her friends will never see her again, but the movie can't express all this, can't express the emotions the book beats you with until you can't handle anymore.
But what it does is a rather fantastic job of putting me back into that frame of mind, to help me remember how i felt while reading, and thats its own kind of special. Still while i adore the actors, i kind of wish they had chosen better quality ones, so everyone who didnt read the books can realise how spectacular this story truly is.
