Conspiracy In The Capitol (In The Capitol #1) by B. Ivy Woods
Conspiracy In The Capitol (In The Capitol #1) - Ivy Woods

Conspiracy In The Capitol by B. Ivy Woods

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Angstful, emotional, unforgettable. Woods writes romance with edge. Conspiracy in the Capitol is at it's best when it shows you it's worst. Romance may be on the horizon, but danger haunts the shadows. From love lost to second chance found. Can Rae and Flint survive the aftermath of giving themselves over to love?

My first anticipated new release of 2020
Tonight We Bombed the U.S. Capitol: The Explosive Story of M19, America's First Female Terrorist Group - William Rosenau

Besides the hold list at the library, how many other government lists will I be put on?

Capitol Promises
Capitol Promises - Rebecca Gallo Capitol Promises - Rebecca Gallo First off, yes you must read Presidential Bargain first. NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS. Now, that's out of the way and you've read book one, you'll want to read book 2. Although I warned that there was a 'sorta' cliff depending on whether or not you took into account the epilogue, book two picks up right where one left off and prepare to hit the ground running.

What I have learned with debut authors that I enjoy their first release, they improve with writing and gain their stride in the voice of their storytelling. Ms. Gallo didn't let me down. The in-depth connection to the characters was strengthened in Capital Promises. You got more understand of what was driving the MC as they tackle the hurdles of Washington DC. However, Jameson did not lose his 'damn jerk' hero status. And Georgie strengthening as a female lead to show women don't have to bulldoze to have power. The story was well paced and gave the reader what I would say was the best HEA the characters could have.

If you love a story with something you can sink your teeth into without feeling preached at or drowned in details, the duet by Ms Gallo is an engaging read. I'm pleased I took a chance and expect each novel she writes will have us turning the pages wanting more. 4.5 out of 5 stars

Capitol Love
Capitol Love - Max Hudson Capitol Love - Max Hudson Jack Ballen works as staff aide for Senator Carlton Sommers, a member of congress who is anti-LGBT and has a bill he needs passed. The other aide on the senator team Tabitha St. Cloud, Jack’s casual bed partner. The three along with other senators witness another senator commit suicide during a meeting. They’re all shaken but Senator Sommers believes something more sinister is happening and charges Jack with infiltrating their adversary’s camp to see if they know anything.

Tyler Johns is an aide to Senator Grant Douglass whom is pro-LGBT rights and fighting to get Senator Sommers bill blocked. When Jack pays his visit to their camp, Senator Sommer’s appoints Tyler to keep an eye on him.

When Jack poking around doesn’t get them anywhere, Senator Sommers wants Jack to up his game and seduce Tyler to get the facts. Jack faces a bit of a dilemma considering he’s working for an anti-LGBT party and he’s not gay.
I think the story itself was spectacular even if the guilty party was easy to deduce. It was exciting to see the story play out and get an example of how cut throat individuals could be to reach their goals.

Tyler and Jack’s seduction of each other felt like it was rushed. Jack just seemed a bit easy really and Tyler well he came on strong. It wasn’t unnatural but I just felt it moved along too quickly. Then they were in love and it took less than the 80 pages to happen.
I felt a little bad for Tabitha but I feel like she got what was coming for her since she was so ambitious and willing to do anything to get ahead. I also felt bad for Senator Douglas since he really was just trying to support equal rights and went above and beyond for his belief. I was rooting for his survival and was hoping no real harm came to him.

I did find it weird that no one thought it was weird that Senator Vance Cafferty, whom committed suicide, took the time to ask the senators sitting next to him to deliver envelopes to his wife and son? They had the time to question it and prevent the guy they were next to from shooting his brains out. The no lube and/or safe sex was missed. Also some of the dialogue during the sex scenes felt really pornish.

An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

Not easy
Love and Legislature - Peter Styles

Richard meets Val outside his place of work.  Everyone around the office assumes he is a doing good hippy or homeless man.  He talks to Richard each day, however, and they soon become friends.

Val has many secrets that Richard ignores or does not want to know.  As they get to know one another better, he discovers he is more of a man he could see in his future.  With the stunning attraction and their pasts almost behind them, is it possible to find happiness?

I thought this was well put together.  The pace seems a little fast, but romance happens in many avenues.  I likes that the characters mesh well together and made each other better men.  I give this sweet story a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
