Review: Avenging Spider-Man: The Good, The Green and the Ugly
Avenging Spider-Man: The Good, the Green and the Ugly - Kelly Sue DeConnick,Stuart Immonen

Title: Avenging Spider-Man: The Good, The Green and the Ugly
Author: Kelly Sue DeConnick
Series: Avenging Spider-Man, 2
Format: ebook
Length: N/A
Rating: 3 stars

Synopsis: First, it's a night out on the town with Spider-Man and She-Hulk! Then, Spidey plummets into action with the all new Captain Marvel! Unfortunately, they're 50,000 feet up - and only one of them can fly! Plus, the team-up you've all been waiting for: Spider-Man and Deadpool take on...high school?!

Favourite character: Wade
Least favourite character: hypno-dude

Mini-review: The best part of this book is 100% Deadpool's cheerleading uniform.

I enjoyed seeing Peter interact with Captain Marvel and She-Hulk. I didn't like the villain at the end, the hypno-dude. He was ridiculous, honestly, like a rip-off Mysterio.

excellent
The Life Of Captain Marvel (The Life of Captain Marvel #1-5) - Carlos Pacheco,Margaret Stohl

Very excellent Captain Marvel story where she comes to terms with some of her back history and some of the issues that that has affected her from her past.  I liked it and would like to read more by the author and more about this character.

I ship War Machine/Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel (2016) #6 - Christos Gage,Ruth Gage,Kris Anka

And this issue made me ship them.   But other than some really adorable Rhodey/Carol moments, I didn't really feel this issue.  The diplomatic behind the scenes explanations of Ulysses - without explaining that it was a he, not an actual weapon - felt contrived, and never really went anywhere before this issue veered off into a Kree threat.

(Because why not forget about the Inhuman issue, in favor of the people who used them as lab rats?   That seemed weird to me, and the fact that they had to shoehorn in a Kree threat, when the Kree were the ones who experimented on the humans, seemed distasteful to me.   Carol's saying she's got a good relationship with the Inhumans, but is also in contact with the Kree empire, or at least some factions within the Kree empire, and has to run off to stop a Kree threat without mentioning, oh, hey, the Kree are on the planet to the Inhuman royal family?   Even while she's trying to get them to let her use Ulysses?   Whatever, Carol.)

So, yeah, this issue kinda pissed me off, and also felt narratively split and odd to me.   Beautiful art, and like I said, loved the moments when Carol got to spend time with her kinda-bf, but I can't give it five, or even four, stars.

Favorite book(s) of the month: every single one of them

Books started this month but haven't finished yet: Artificial Sweethearts, The Book of Whispers

This has been the greatest reading month I had so far. 8 books finished, and I love all of them. This rarely happens, so I'm gonna hold on to that amazing feeling for the rest of the year.
