And this issue made me ship them. But other than some really adorable Rhodey/Carol moments, I didn't really feel this issue. The diplomatic behind the scenes explanations of Ulysses - without explaining that it was a he, not an actual weapon - felt contrived, and never really went anywhere before this issue veered off into a Kree threat.
(Because why not forget about the Inhuman issue, in favor of the people who used them as lab rats? That seemed weird to me, and the fact that they had to shoehorn in a Kree threat, when the Kree were the ones who experimented on the humans, seemed distasteful to me. Carol's saying she's got a good relationship with the Inhumans, but is also in contact with the Kree empire, or at least some factions within the Kree empire, and has to run off to stop a Kree threat without mentioning, oh, hey, the Kree are on the planet to the Inhuman royal family? Even while she's trying to get them to let her use Ulysses? Whatever, Carol.)
So, yeah, this issue kinda pissed me off, and also felt narratively split and odd to me. Beautiful art, and like I said, loved the moments when Carol got to spend time with her kinda-bf, but I can't give it five, or even four, stars.
Favorite book(s) of the month: every single one of them
Books started this month but haven't finished yet: Artificial Sweethearts, The Book of Whispers
This has been the greatest reading month I had so far. 8 books finished, and I love all of them. This rarely happens, so I'm gonna hold on to that amazing feeling for the rest of the year.
Thanks to Prime Reading I FINALLY picked this one up.
This has been on my list for a while now but I never got around to reading it. So glad I finally did. I LOVED THIS SO MUCH and I can't wait to read more from this.
I loved the story, I love CAROL DANVERS.
I really REALLY enjoyed the artwork. Ugh. Just everything.
