I've been thinking about checking out some of this author's books (umm...somebody warn me if there's any drama or issues associated with her). Finally borrowed this one from the amazon prime kindle owners lending library.
i'm expecting it just to be a humorous, light chicklit read.
it's also available free via their Unlimited program (I have trouble just finding my monthly prime borrow -- am no where near ready to do the 30-day free trial of Unlimited, sporadically developing an Unlimited-not-also-in- prime book list and when I think I have a good selection I may try).
woo hoo! I can do reading statuses on booklikes again!
I started last night for the just called Book Shelf BINGO Shelf, "shifter," and it's been a fun one. Of course, I love me a loyal tiny dog — in this case the poodle who sniffs out a quietly minding their own business but stuck in same alley werewolf and perceives him as a threat to her airhead Barbie of an owner. Poodle breaks off leash and latches into lip of huge werewolf who could swallow her with one bite but instead is just trying to shake her teeth off his lip -- owner reaches in to rescue fluff-ball, is accidentally bitten and voila is becoming a werewolf and the ladylike edges are fraying away...

Nothing really wrong with writing or anything. Just not for me. I'm probably unfairly not giving this book long enough to judge.
Narrative is just very much inside the heroine's head and getting not just stream of consciousness but awfully YA/NA sounding. I really don't like the "romance" which technically is a love triangle (although now long-distance live-in boyfriend not really in the picture and clueless). I am stopping before plot even gets to the cooking and other potentially fun bits mentioned. It didn't get all "woe is me" but I stopped liking her even though potentially in rest of the book her character could develop.
I may be too old for this one or wasn't in as much of a romance mood as I thought.
