Puzzle Me This by Eli Easton Review
Puzzle Me This - Eli Easton

Luke Schumaker designs computer games, working from his home. Every day he walks his dog in the woods nearby, never suspecting that someone who is completely smitten is watching. The watcher is Alex Shaw, and he too works from home, designing logic and crossword puzzles. Alex’s options are limited: he’s too shy to approach Luke and his wheelchair won’t let him follow into the woods. His solution? Secret messages for Luke in the crosswords he writes for the local paper. When Luke decodes them, romance begins, but then they face greater puzzles, like Alex’s interfering sister and what commitment to a man in a wheelchair really takes. And, most puzzling of all, how do you know if love is real?

Review

I liked the start of this romance very much and the meeting of two different kinds of nerds.

However, I would have preferred more couple time and a bigger story. The conflict was predictable and well thoughtful not as engaging as it could have been.

Eli Easton's writing, as always, shines.

All that Shimmers by Raine O'Tierney Review
All That Shimmers - Raine O'Tierney

Beau Bell is a former Olympic hopeful, left paralyzed from the waist down after a car accident. He has every reason in the world to be pissed off and miserable, yet he’s training for the Paralympics Men's 100m—S6 division. The chair? Just a part of who he is now. Beau's attitude is golden. If only he could contend with this one little issue: errant erections and no way to relieve them!

Niksa Meríc is a lonely scientist and really bad poet living underneath the old building where he does his research. Every night he watches his neighbor through his basement window as he undresses in his wheelchair. Although there is no apparent reason for Niksa to be unhappy, he’s struggled with depression his whole life and has tried to kill himself on multiple occasions.

When Beau proposes that his “voyeur” come over and help him experiment with the erections he can’t actually feel, the relationship they build is a sexual one. But the relationship they need is one that will heal each other’s heart as well.

I have found a new author I really like in Raine O'Tiernery. This is one of her more dark offerings as the heroes are both engaged in struggles.

The fall in love here is quick but the frank exploration of sexuality in a disabled body is well done as is the look at issues of chemical imbalance.

I love the driven swimmer and the scientist pairing.

I wish the world of each man was a little wider than what we see here and that we got more time with them but it is a very engaging read.

The Perfect Fit (Riley O'Brien & Co., #4) by Jenna Sutton Review
The Perfect Fit (a Riley O'Brien & Co. novella) - Jenna Sutton

What happens when an optimistic, young veterinarian and a battle-scarred Army veteran end up as roommates?

Zeke May has spent the past two years recovering from an IED attack and trying to adjust to life as a civilian. The veteran hiring program at denim empire Riley O’Brien & Co. offers a new beginning. The only problem is the high cost of housing in San Francisco, and Margo Lange could be the perfect solution.

Now that Margo has completed veterinary school, she’s ready to fulfill her dream of living in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, she’s drowning in student loan debt and the only places she can afford are dumps. Luckily, one of her uncle’s Army buddies needs a roommate.

Although Zeke’s place is a perfect fit for Margo’s budget, he is not what she expects. He’s much younger than her uncle, and he’s melt-your-panties hot. She doesn’t want to fall for him, but it doesn’t take her long to realize that Zeke is the perfect fit for her, regardless of their age gap. Too bad he’s so obviously still in love with his ex-wife…

Review

The romance was just just the right blend of funny, tender, sexy and real. I love low angst romance which is all about the couple.

Watching Zeke and Margo fall in love is a pure joy. I adore the Zeke is not a man whore. His not a man whoreness is beyond hot. They become great friends. There are things each needs to work through but in the end they are meant to be.

Love all the tropes are done so well but the writing is so crisp and the dialogue is lovely with all these little gems studded through the character development like the heroine's thrift shopping.

The only thing that kept it from being a five star for me was that I wanted more of an epilogue though what I got was good, I just want more lushness in a final chapter or more epilogue.

I highly recommend. And it was free on Amazon as a gateway drug to this author. So, go get hooked!

Worth It All (The McKinney Brothers #3) by Claudia Connor Review
Worth It All - Claudia Connor

She’s fighting for control. . . . Paige Roberts learned to fend for herself growing up. Now she’s doing everything possible to give her daughter, Casey, the stability she never had. But when the vivacious five-year-old decides she’s done wearing her prosthesis, Paige faces her toughest challenge yet: trusting a handsome, brooding stranger who simply wants to help.

He’s struggling to connect. . . . JT McKinney lost more than his leg in a car accident that stole his dreams of pro football. Eight years later, he's made a new life for himself far away from his old one. His business is developing cutting-edge prosthetics and he’s more than happy to turn his attention to machines instead of people. Still, he can’t shake the feeling that something’s missing.

Will they take a chance on love? . . . When JT gets the chance to help Paige’s daughter, he takes it. He never planned on the two of them tearing down his walls or teaching him to believe in himself again. Paige might not believe in happily ever afters, but JT wants more than anything to be her prince. They’ll both have to let go of the past if they want a future.

Review

This is a sweet romance with an overworked single mom as our heroine. The hero and the heroine's daughter have both lost legs for different reasons and this brings them together though the hero already had a crush on the mom.

The hero is a biomedical engineer who patents AI and artificial limbs which is better cool. He is pretty young and suppose to be super smart. I would have loved to see more of that part of him.

The heroine is a waitress working two jobs and starting back to school with an almost five year old. The child's issues about going to school are compelling and the romance is a lovely one.

However, for me, I would have liked more on the hero in the years after his accident, college and grad school wise, and for the heroine I would have liked her to have more of sexual self (her sexual history didn't seem all that realistic or at least I would have liked that talked about and explored).

I am interested in the other books in the series
