The Demon's Blood by R.J. Scott
The Demon's Blood - RJ Scott

3 1/2 - 4 Hearts

Supernatural Bounty Hunters 04

Review written for MM Good Book Reviews

This book is part of a series and must be read in order. Simeon is a mountain lion shifter and part of the Underground working to break the choke-hold that the Glitnir councils has on all paranormals, when he meets Asher, the half blood demon, his attraction for the sexy blood demon flairs. Asher is a blood demon and is a slave and a warrior, he keeps his family connections secret. When his half brother Phin asks for his help he doesn't know if he can take the chance, especially when he has an annoying mountain lion shifter with him. Together Simeon and Asher have to convince the mountain lion guild to join them against the elves who are trying to take over the throne, and to give the blood demons their freedom. But will Asher's and Simeon's attraction prove to be a distraction from what is important to the Underground and the freedom of the paranormals?

Well, well, well, we go further afield in this addition to the Supernatural Bounty Hunters series by entering the Second Kingdom and discovering just how far the Giltnir council rot has spread. Simeon is a character that has you wondering if he ever cared about anything other than his problems because his complete disregard when he first meets Asher has you wanting to slap him, but he does redeem himself quite nicely. Asher has every right to be aloof, with the fear of what could happen if anyone ever discovered who his father is hovering over his head and the treatment of Blood demons, it is no wonder that he tries to keep Simeon at arms length.

We see some changes beginning in this story and the progression of the overall storyline throughout the series is moving forward at a very nice pace, the threads connecting the different species is getting stronger and the Underground movement is gaining force. With this story we have some exciting developments that effect both Simeon and Asher, we see a desperate attempt to stop an usurper from taking over the Elven throne and the Felines are pushed to action, but the best thing in this story has to be their relationship that starts out rocky, but it won't be denied.

Both Asher and Simeon are great characters and their relationship moves quickly, it's also very hot with both characters being passionate. The writing is good and flows pretty smoothly and we see characters from previous books so we can see how they are doing and the strain that their revolution is having on them. I must admit to enjoying this story and the way it is progressing, it is opening up further to include a wider range of species, drawing them together for a better future.

I recommend this story to those who love the paranormal in all it's variety, great characters who make you react, a brilliant storyline that has far to go and a love that stands through danger and change and a great ending.

First Mission by Ravon Silvius
First Mission - Ravon Silvius

4 Hearts

Review written for MM Good Book Reviews

This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Kenneth and Thorn are now Enforcers, with Thorn becoming the first Talentless Enforcer, it is now time for their first mission. Check out the new alchemy college, meet the governor and see how the college's presence is effecting the local village.... easy right? The governor is friendly, the college welcoming, but the village is hostile. Thorn and Kenneth split up to discover what is truly going on and while Kenneth is being seduce by the college, Thorn is being spat upon by his fellow talentless, and as they both draw near to the truth they have to face a deadly enemy again.

First Mission begins about three weeks after The Exam finished, it continues with the story of Kenneth and Thorn, a mage and a talentless, who are liefmates and are set on becoming Enforcers to uphold the law and in Thorn's case to bring some equality for the talentless. On their first mission together Thorn's fears seem to be realized when he is spat upon and called a traitor by his own people, but his determination to help them won't let it get to him. Kenneth has his own concerns when he realizes that he is being distracted from his job, trying to determined what is happening isn't easy when he can trust no one but Thorn.

I really do enjoy this series as the storyline develops and we see both Kenneth and Thorn confronting their future together. Their first mission isn't as easy as they hoped as they come across a cesspit of corruption and dark magic. Their love is still strong and strengthening everyday, they face what is thrown at them, the contempt and anger, the wiles and seduction with the knowledge that they can fight against it together. They are a wonderful couple and their passion for each other doesn't waver.... even when temptation is being force upon Kenneth. The storyline is really good, and has excitement and danger, with both men fighting against the evil deeds to save the village but with Thorn finding himself in great danger.

I have to recommend this to those who love magic and steampunk, stronger bonds being forged, fighting against dark deeds, building a bridge between Enforcers and talentless, with a great ending that leaves the way for more great stories.

The Alpha's Only by Amber Kell
The Alpha's Only - Amber Kell
3 1/2 - 4 Hearts

This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Tiber is the Alpha of Black Creek pack and wants to find his mate, and stumbles across him when he is looking for signs of Oscar. Keir is overjoyed to finally meet his mate, but he has no intention of ever sharing his mate with anyone else. Tiber and Keir have other concerns first though they have to hunt down Oscar and rescue pack members and they discover there is a traitor in their midst.

Oh Keir is one confident puppy and Tiber soon learns that surrender is bliss. Tiber is still hunting for Oscar, the insane wolf who is murdering Tiber's pack members, while on a hunt he and Conner discover an injured red wolf and take him to Josh. Keir was looking for Tiber's pack when he was attacked by a back wolf, even though he is injured he is still overjoyed to meet the alpha, now he just needs to convince the shifter that they are meant to be together. With Tiber accepting new pack members he doesn't realize that he may have accepted a traitor, but it soon comes to a head and all is revealed.

I really enjoyed this story, I really liked the way that Keir, as a red wolf, was slightly different from the gray wolves, fully believing in the mate bond for red wolves. Keir is also super confident, even though he knows alpha's usually take more than one mate he is determined to prove his new-found mate otherwise and that he is the only mate Tiber needs. Tiber has been alone for some time and although he doesn't say outright at first you get the feeling he has no intention of having more than one mate anyway, he just likes tease Keir. Their relationship is passionate and they get along brilliantly, the storyline has a good hint of tension with a healthy dose of danger. I must admit to being slightly surprised as to the traitor and cheered happily when they got what they deserved.

I recommend this to those who love shifters, a great storyline, brilliant characters, hot sex, shifters getting their just deserts and a great hot ending.
