#7 - Saga (#6) by Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples
Saga, Volume 6 - Brian K. Vaughan,Fiona Staples

This was another amazing volume of Saga. I do read them in French because it is easier and cheaper to get them that way, but I don’t think it makes a big difference. Anyway, I really enjoyed reading about Hazel and her family again.

I bought this one last year and still had not read it. It’s been a while since I’ve read Saga, but in spite of that, it was still easy to follow and it took me only a couple of minutes to get back into it

We again meet a lot of new characters and they are all so unique, I don’t understand how they can create so many different characters that remind me of nothing I’ve already seen. They really are unique. And the art is PERFECT.

Another thing I love about Saga is how honest it is. You see the story through the eyes of a child but not an innocent or stupid one (like most children are, really, we do not give them enough credit!), Hazel is honest and understand a lot more than what people think.

I can’t wait to read the next one, this graphic novel is really one of the best I have ever read and it keeps getting better and better.

Nimona Review
Nimona - Noelle Stevenson

Why did it take me so long to pick up this up?!  Nimona is without a doubt the most adorable thing I've read this year.  Parts of this got me right in the feels, and other parts had me laughing out loud.  Personally I thought the story line moved at a pretty decent pace throughout the entire book. I never really got to a point where I got real bored with what was going on.  Sometimes there is one issues in a volume where I'm just kind of like, meh, whatever, but I never really hit a chapter of Nimona where wasn't eagerly devouring it.

Nimona is honestly my favorite character in the book.  I love her spunk, her quick wit, and how she doesn't take any crap from anyone around her.  I really liked her relationship with Lord Ballister Blackheart as well.  The two of them sort of needed each other in order to move on from things in their past.  For Nimona to realize that people could actually care about her without using her, and for Blackheart to finally manage to pull off one of his evil plans.  That's not the only reason he needs her, but I feel it's all I can put without spoiling too much of the story.  It's sort of sweet toward the end with Lord Blackheart, it's the part that got me right in the feels with this book.

Though the Graphic Novel is called Nimona, the story isn't just about her.  In fact it's about so much more than her.  This story is about Lord Ballister Blackheart and Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin.  It's about the Institution of Law Enforcement and Heroics.  This is a book about standing up for what you believe in no matter how unpopular the opinion in, and that's cool to love science.

Noelle Stevenson weaved a wonderful story of fantasy and science fiction that I didn't want to end.  In fact I could probably go on and on about how much I loved it.  I know a lot of people's biggest complaint about her work was the artwork itself, but I enjoy it.  Not everything has to be down in the new age way of comics.  I sort of liked cartoon feel of the artwork, it felt right to me.

This was a great read for me during my lunch breaks at work, and was totally worth the odd looks I got for laughing out loud in public. Now I'm eager to pick up Lumberjanes,  also by Noelle Stevenson.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Review
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Illustrated Classics): A Graphic Novel - Robert Louis Stevenson,Andrzej Klimowski,Danusia Schejbal,Metro Media

This was an impulse buy for me while at Half Price Books.  Part of it was the cover art and the other was of course the subject matter.  One of my favorite books is in fact Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Add on the fact it's in graphic novel form, sold!  Sadly I was really disappointed with this one.  I read it earlier this year and I'm having a hard time really remembering the art work, and looking back at Goodreads doesn't tell me much.  I just know I sped read a good portion of the book already knowing how it was going to end.  For a book that once scared the daylights out of me, the graphic novel version sort of just bored me.

Locke & Key Review
Locke & Key, Vol. 6: Alpha & Omega - Joe Hill,Gabriel Rodríguez

What?! Just...did that just happen? I'm so very sad this series is over! But, holy cow and the rest of the farm! For a moment at the end I was so very mad with Joe Hill, but he came through for me in the end. I wanted to pace myself because it was the last Volume in the series, but I ended up finishing it in one sitting. I needed to know! At the end of it all I just couldn't believe it. From start to finish it was a wonderful series and Locke and Key is probably one of my favorite graphic novels out there.  It took me a year to read the whole series, and it was a whirlwind experience.  I cannot recommend this man's work enough to people.  Now there are no more keys and crazy possessed teenagers. Joe Hill didn't disappoint me and I cannot wait to get my hand on more books by this wonderfully twisted man.
