Destined for an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost
Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress #4) - Tavia Gilbert,Jeaniene Frost

This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.

I am loving my re-read of this series! I loved this book when I first read it almost seven years ago and I loved the audiobook just as much now. I had planned to listen to something else but something made me put everything aside to spend a little bit of time with Cat and Bones. I am so glad that I listened to that little voice in my head that told me to forget my plans and listen to this book because it was exactly what I needed.

This is the fourth book in a series that does need to be read in order since each book builds on the events of the previous installments. Cat and Bones were in a pretty good place at the start of this book. Things looked pretty calm but of course, that can't last for long. Cat and Bones have a small issue with Cat's ex that will be much more complicated than you could even imagine.

I love the characters in this series. Cat and Bones are both awesome and I love them together. Vlad plays an important role in this book which was a big plus for me. Vlad is such an interesting character and I love his friendship with Cat. All of the key players from the series play a role in this story and there is a couple of nice additions as well.

Tavia Gilbert does such a good job with this series. I adore the voice that she uses for Bones. It just feels so real to me. The dialogue in this story flowed absolutely wonderfully and I thought that she added a lot of emotion to this story. I loved the story when I read it on my kindle but there was something almost magical about experiencing it through the audiobook.

I would highly recommend this series to others. This book was fantastic even with the unnecessary relationship drama. There were times that I wanted to shake the characters for their behavior but there was never a time that I wasn't enjoying myself so it doesn't even matter. I cannot wait to continue with my re-read.

Initial Thoughts
This book had a lot of unnecessary drama between Cat and Bones and there were times that I kind of wanted to shake them. It doesn't matter though because I loved this book. I really had a great time with it and I almost forgot how amazing Vlad is! Tavia Gilbert was phenomenal with her narration and I might have liked this book even more the second time around.

Curvy single mom in trouble + elite alien warrior = a chance at the forever kind of love.

Three strikes and he's out.
Zoriah's rebellious teenage son is in trouble again - this time, on purpose. She'll do anything to prevent her family breaking up, even allow her children to train for the alien Yadeshi army.

Why raise your sword if you have no mate or family?
Elite alien warrior Benyon spends his time on Earth training humans in martial arts. He's come to love the three human children with warrior-spirits, and will do anything to prevent their unhappiness- even if it means going toe-to-toe with their mother - a woman who entices him with her fierce temper, lush beauty and strength of will to raise her children alone.

But she doesn't have to be alone ...
he won't allow it, not when he's made up his mind she should be his. All he has to do is convince her that alien warriors do it bigger, harder and badder. And when their family is threatened by a spurned would-be lover, Benyon seizes the opportunity to prove his worth. After all, there's more to him than just his big, blue... tattoo.

This is a steamy hot, science fiction romance for readers who love BBW and alpha male alien warriors. Perfect for your lunch break reads.

Warrior’s Bond is book one in the Yadeshi Brides series by Emma Alisyn.

Zoriah, is a single mother of three working two jobs.

Benyon, is a blue warrior alien on earth to train the kids that apply to the Yadeshi program.

I felt this story was rushed and things didn’t flow well. We barely get any background on the Yadeshi and we don’t get any history on how they came to be on earth, nor do we zip off to an alien plant in this story. We also don’t get to dive into the characters.

From what I understand about the world. Earth’s government isn’t nice and they are regulating their people, in that once you are in a class level you stay and don’t get a chance to improve your situation. They are also hiding all the benefits of joining the Yadeshi organization from it’s earth citizens.

I found some things interesting, like the Yadeshi and their training program, but we don’t get to dive into it all, so I was disappointed on the lack of information and world building. The romance was a slow, sweet, and nice courtship.

The major downside with this book for me besides the lack of flow, information, and world building is that we actually ended at 62%. The last 40% of this book is all advertisement for the other books in the Yadeshi Bridesseries. I don’t like when an author does this. It’s misleading the readers and not giving us a full story.

Warrior’s Bond was ok, but didn’t win me over. Their was potential, but it needed more. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

Rated: 2.5 Stars

Reading progress update: I've read 46%.
Dream Huntress (A Dreamseeker novel) (Entangled Ignite) - Michelle Sharp

The woman is too busy ruining her career because she's thinking with her pussy and the guy is a complete and total chauvinistic piece of shit. I'm not sure I can stomach anymore of this crap.

5 Dark Huntress Stars
Dark Huntress - A.K. Michaels,Ava K. Michaels

But once he finds her, he finds he has to make a choice between breaking a centuries-old vow or allow her to die. Can Lazarus break his oath for Ariana? Can he go on if he doesn’t?

This ‘Warrior of Darkness’ story is an emotionally gripping and explosively energetic read that has readers holding their breath throughout. The plot is fast pace and non-stop exhilarating excitement that energizes readers into wanting to take action right alongside the captivating Ariana and sexy, Lazarus. Not only is the enemy, upping her game, she has plans with plans and does her best to stay one step ahead of Lazarus and his friends but is some stunning twist and astonishing OMG betrayal things become even more dangerous and chaotic, ensuring that there is no way reader can put this story down once they start reading it. Note: this is not a standalone story and must be read in order to get the full explosive and addicting reading experience.

Great engrossing read, definitely recommended
The Huntress - Kate Quinn

I loved reading this one! A great blend of action, intrigue and romance complete with a cast of likable characters. Each one with their story to tell and it’s told well. For some background information it would help to read up on the subject of the Night Witches and their exploits during World War II (which is a fascinating subject on its’ own)

Of all the stories to read, Nina’s naturally, is the most interesting. She’s a wild child, does her own thing and doesn’t care about norms, conventions, and rules. She does her own thing but joins up with her squad not because of the love of her land and country but because she loves to fly. It’s her passion and it shows. I love reading about Nina because of her free spirited attitude and her drive. It’s what keeps her going.

The plot is free flowing and the chapters goes back and forth time-wise, and changes perspective depending on the character. Besides Nina, Jordan’s point of view is also interesting. She’s also got an independent streak in her and it’s nice to see her go on her own path based on her decisions. It’s unheard of back then in the day (we’re talking about 1950’s here) so it’s nice to read.

The writing is excellent and it grabs your attention from page one. I rather wish there was a small glossary to see what Nina says in Russian (although I’m sure it’s rather colorful language) but other than that small bit, the characters are engaging, and it’s nice how they all come together in the last third of the book.

The Author’s Note is also good for explaining what she’s done historical speaking wise. If you are stickler for history perhaps this isn’t for you - it’s more character and story driven. Still an engrossing read and greatly recommended!
