I finally got around to watching the final episode of the Daily Show.

Towards the end you might remember Stephen Colbert saying he is 'Sam' to Jon Stewart's 'Frodo.' Stewart, being the weary man who had to traverse the shady political lands while avoiding ego and power ('the ring'), and Colbert, ('Sam'), came along for the ride.

Stewart and Colbert have referenced Lord of the Rings often in their shows and that final 'Sam-Frodo' exchange brought it home for me.

So, yeah I'm going to miss these guys. And I was also reminded of how amazing Tolkien was.

Except for a few shelves that have books according to the series order, most of my books live freely, occupying whatever space they feel like. As long as they are on the shelf...

Now we come to this Book!

Now the whole Lord of the rings trilogy Is a Big big part of my life, They Are one of my Fathers Best series of fantasy books. ((Hes a big time fantasy and si-fi book fan.)) So I grew up with the whole Lord of the rings. So many things fantasy Were made When people picked up these books!! I don't even think Dungeons and dragons. or World of Warcraft would even Exist if it wasn't for J.R.R Tolkien! As a kid many a time i would Sneek my dads copy of the hobbit to Read. So i felt it was time to take a break from horror and go on a adventure!

I honesty think that Bilbo Baggins is such a Loveable char with a big Heart and Unexpected courage, you see him pulled out of all his comfort zones But he still shows courage though out it all.

This book gives me a big big big sense of nostalgic comfort I almost felt by picking this up and reading it again having watched the films in the cinema That in the books the chars are far More friendly then in the film Theres so much I could go on about this Book they go on a great adventure. In this book you will see why Gandalf does what he does, and why he asked Bilbo Baggins to join them on there Adventure.

I have been working on this book for forever. I'm part of a reading club with some of my friends that I met first on xanga and then we moved over to tumblr. I really love being a part of the group - there's only four of us, but we all absolutely adore reading and it's been great to discuss that with friends. The really great part is that we all have pretty different tastes, so we get to introduce one another to books that we probably wouldn't even attempt otherwise. 

Unfortunately, 3 out of 4 of us are still in college (after Saturday, only 2!), so we're restricted by our demanding school schedules and this semester, we were so busy that we had to put reading club on halt. We're coming back on Sunday - that's the plan, anyway - and I CANNOT WAIT!!! So tonight I finally finished what we've designated as section two of Fellowship and I'll be ready to move on to section 3 of Fellowship for our longer reads list and start Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, which is on our normal list, on Sunday. Yes, we do have several different reading lists. We're that obsessed with books. I'm sure you all can relate :) 

Anyway, so far, I like this book much better than I thought! I was always a Harry Potter kid growing up and for some reason, for the longest time I thought that you couldn't like both series. Which is stupid, but that's the way I felt, so for the longest time, I refused to attempt LOTR and by the time I got over it, I just didn't care enough to start the series on my own. So thankfully, my good friend Lizzy is a huge fan of the series and she put it on our longer reads list. Sometimes, Tolkein's a bit wordy, but at least he's clever writer and at times he's actually pretty funny! I watched the movie about a year ago and I'm really glad that Frodo et al. have finally gotten to Rivendell - I remember that being my favorite part of the movie, even though I don't really remember many details as to why that was. I just finished the part where Frodo had some problems crossing the Ford. But apparently, all is well and hopefully the next section will be full of the Elves! I think it's safe to say that they're my favorite - or at least, they were in the movie!

Day 19 - Favourite book turned into a movie.

I have to say The Lord of the Rings trilogy simply because, having adored the books I was petrified at how they might turn out when made into a movie.  The Ralph Bakshi movie from 1978 was interesting and back in the day, when I saw it, I was quite impressed, but when Peter Jackson's epic was announced, I was concerned.  Could he do it justice, the justice my favourite deserved?  Well, turns out that he most definitely could.  Jackson's trilogy is as much a treat for my eyes as the books were (and remain) a treat for my brain.

So, what could have been a HUGE case of Lunchbag Letdown, ended up being something wonderful and much loved.  :)
