Release Day Review! Aliens Abroad (Katherine "Kitty" Katt #16) by Gini Koch
Aliens Abroad (Alien Novels) - Gini Koch

With the human population growing and alien refugees pouring in from around the galaxy, Earth is becoming too overcrowded to sustain itself--and the solar system is filling up with the alien overflow. Advanced technology from the Alpha Centauri and Vatusan systems offers one possible solution. It's time to explore new planets and see if any uninhabited ones can be claimed.

The President and First Lady, aka Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini, aren't supposed to be on this mission, but what looks like a snafu during a political photo op on the newly christened Distant Voyager spaceship turns out to be a call for help from a planet that might be Earth's salvation...or its destruction.

The discovery of a world at the opposite end of the galaxy that seems like it could be a twin to Earth creates the usual issues for Kitty & Company. It also raises questions of Z'porrah and Ancient influence--not to mention cloning, the multiverse, and, scariest of all, whether or not the Black Hole Universe Police are starting to take too much of an interest in this particular universe.

Kitty is back and once again, she storms through my world creating a complex but exhilarating adventure for me to get lost in.

Kitty and her unique and quirky crew find themselves on another adventure that provides lots of action, suspense, thrills, danger, drama and fun to keep readers well entertained from beginning to end.  Also, who can get enough of meeting interesting new aliens, visiting awe inspiring worlds, dangerous adversaries that may or may not remain an adversary and of course delightful animals that add their own special twist to each and every story.

Aliens Abroad give readers a surprising journey right along with Kitty as the whole crew is taken unawares by … well I let you figure that one out for yourself as there are several suspects. The journey is fast paced, thrilling and full of fun as well as wonderful adrenaline pumping events that keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Gini Koch is such a wonderful storyteller as she paints vibrant images that make it easy for readers to become caught up in her fascinating world but she also has created such fun loving and quirky characters that readers never know what to expect from them at any given time which just adds to the overall suspense and spontaneity of the stories and certainly keeps readers on their toes. I enjoyed another exhilarating visit with Kitty and her fascinating world and I of course after that ending I am waiting on pins and needles to find out what happens next.

The President and First Lady, aka Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini, don’t get any downtime once the Mastermind has been revealed to the world. Not only do they have myriad high-level government positions to fill, but the scrutiny and pressure on this Administration has gone into overdrive.

The sudden reappearance of a long-forgotten adversary turns out to be the tip of the iceberg. New robots and androids attacking, old enemies making new alliances, and new aliens with interesting abilities almost overshadow the fact that the U.S. still has to host a peace summit at Camp David between Israel and Iraq. It’s clear that while the Mastermind may be down, there are plenty of others ready to take his place—and all that stands between them and success are Kitty and Company.

Kidnappings, rescues, creepy hideouts, a hidden black site, and a domestic dispute that could end Jeff and Kitty’s marriage are nothing compared to finding not one but two hidden labs where dangerous and deadly things are brewing.

But when the President and his entourage finally get to the peace talks, things are no better. Mossad rightly suspects something’s wrong with both their Prime Minister and the President of Iraq. A hidden in-control superbeing, an android replacement, and an army of Fem-Bots turn the peace talks into a Battle Royale that the team might not actually survive. And if they don’t make it, Earth won’t make it, either.

But no pressure.

This series has been a favorite of mine since I binge read books 2-7.  (Yeah, they were that good.) Since then, I wait with baited breath for the next book to be released, then inhale it as quickly as I can.  This time, I got it early and, I ain't gonna lie, jumped the book out of my pre-planned order and read it in one sitting. That's right folks, I stayed up way past my bedtime reading this book. And no shame in my game, I enjoyed every minute of it.

So. Things have come along way since the first book and if you haven't read anything else in the series, this is a horrible place to start. Not that you couldn't mind, but why would you? This is an Urban Fantasy Series, not a stand alone, and the events in prior books have shaped both the characters and the over all story line. So do yourself a favor, and start at the beginning.... Or at least closer to the beginning than book 13.

This book continues showcasing big, bold, over the top plots and situations, full of action, snappy, witty dialogue and even comes complete with it's own awesome soundtrack. The cherry on top? We have some seriously strong female characters, in this series.  And I'm talking besides the titular heroine, Katherine Katt. Can it be cheesy at times? Damn straight. But that's part of it's undeniable charm. This was a 5 star read for me, and I am sure it will stay that way when I re-read it. Because I always find something that I missed that first reading. For me, there's no bigger compliment of a writer when upon a reread I find things I missed on the first go round.

Thanks to Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the opportunity to read and review the book.

Life's never easy...

The Mastermind has finally been identified, but before Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini can take him down, they, their daughter Jamie, Charles Reynolds, Paul Gower, Christopher White, and several others are zapped out of their solar system and into another.

Landing in scattered groups on various areas of Beta Eight in the Alpha Centauri system means getting the team back together will be a major issue. But it's only one of the challenges they'll face. Kitty and Company have to forge alliances with the wide variety of sentient natives on the planet while plotting to create a civil war and overthrow the king - who just may be a clone of one of their bitterest enemies, Ronaldo Al Dejahl.

Of course, to do this, they have to overcome an assortment of dangerous obstacles, protect a group of refugees, take mind reading lessons, and seek out unexpected new allies as they journey to the Centerpoint of the world.

And once they reach the All Seeing Mountain, new issues and surprises await. Because there's more than a small war going on - they're in the midst of the Alpha Centauri Civil War!

It's hard for me to believe that this is book 11 of the Katherine Katt series by Gini Koch. I first discovered the series via the cover artist, Daniel Dos Santos, but I didn't actually give the books a try until I saw them highlighted on another blog. I read the first book and was thrilled with it! I had to quickly get the others and then binge read the next 6 books. I've been hooked ever since.

To anyone who has been reading this series, this book takes us back to the Alpha Centauri system. But it's not for old home week.  Nope, Kitty and the crew land on Beta Eight, separated and facing a solar system wide civil war. Or as she call's it, Business as Usual. As per usual Kitty plows ahead, making unusual friends of both people and animals everywhere she goes. I love that the action and mystery continue to be a bold combination that keeps you immersed in this interesting world.

If you haven't read anything else in the series, this is probably NOT a good place to start.  After all, we have had 10 books of  investigation and speculation into who the Ultimate Evil Mastermind is. Trust me, you want the build up to get to this point, and it's all relevant in getting here.

This series continues to intrigue me, wondering where it will go next. I enjoy the fast pace of the story, the witty banter and even the sarcasm knob being at 11 most of the time. *wink* I can't wait to see what Kitty is up to next. This series has become one of my favorite guilty pleasures; action packed with plenty of geek references for my nerdy little heart. I am giving this book 5 stars.

Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin for the opportunity to read and review the book.
