It Happened in Scotland (Kilts and Quilts #6) by Patience Griffin

After pulling herself out of a three-year fog of grief over the loss of her husband, Joe, Rachel is bringing their five-year-old daughter to see his hometown of Gandiegow and visit with his grandfather.

But Rachel wasn’t planning on running into Joe’s cousin, the man who made her have second thoughts at the altar...

Brodie has come home to help his grandfather’s fishing business, but he’d prefer not to see Rachel.

Although she did break his heart six years ago, the grip she has on him hasn’t faltered. If they can stop butting heads long enough and learn to overcome the past, they may find new love in the new year.

I love the heart whole emotional mending and healing process for each stage of the quilting sort of creates a fictitious healing for the reader and its characters. As sad as this book was it also brings a lot of heart and a lot of the finding ways to cope and embrace life once more kind of read.

There's also a deeper love story and sacrifice and hope drawn into the pages as well which is really kind of beautiful. I even love Brodies silliness which helps lift some of the seriousness of the under current story going on.

It Happened in Scotland embraces being true to one self and opening the heart to love. I really enjoyed reading this book. Love it.

The Trouble With Scotland (Kilts and Quilts #5) by Patience Griffin
The Trouble With Scotland (Kilts and Quilts) - Patience Griffin

Life isn’t going as planned and Sadie Middleton is rethinking her whole future. Thankfully one thing is staying the same: she’s able to share her love of quilting with her grandmother Gigi. The two of them enter a contest and win an all-expenses-paid trip to the Kilts and Quilts retreat in the Scottish Highlands. But their victory turns hollow when Gigi passes away before they can go. Sadie is grief-stricken, but her brother convinces her to take the trip to Gandiegow anyway.

There she meets a charming circle of quilters who remind her of her grandmother—and Ross Armstrong, a handsome fisherman who brings a smile to her face. Newly single, Ross intends to enjoy his freedom. That plan goes awry as he comes to know Sadie—and a surprising spark is lit. Too bad some well-meaning folks want to protect Ross from getting hurt again and are determined to keep him and the American lass apart.

My Review:

The Trouble with Scotland was a great slow build romance with good relationship anticipation. I like slow romances sometimes because its nice to get an easy pace read that doesn't have a lot of complication to it. You can relax and just simply enjoy the love and character build. Sometimes I really need something that isn't crazy action or drama. If you need a sweet and classic of Scottish romance books this is the one for you.

Some Like It Scottish: A Kilts and Quilts Novel
Some Like It Scottish: A Kilts and Quilts Novel - Patience Griffin Some Like It Scottish (Kilts and Quilts #3)by Patience Griffin

Kit Woodhouse’s matchmaking business is such a success, she’s expanding to the Highlands of Scotland where the hot, prosperous, and kilted are anxious to connect. Now, looking to fill her stable with eligible bachelors, Kit’s arrived in Gandiegow to recruit potential Real Men of Scotland. It’s not until she meets her tour guide that she discovers just how real they can be.
With his sexy grin, jeans, and black wellies, Ramsay Armstrong is an unpolished hulk of a Scottish fisherman—and a skeptic when it comes to romance. Not exactly a man of “pairing attributes” when talking marriageable matches, but he does make Kit’s heart beat a little faster. Maybe it’s the scent of the sea in his hair. Maybe it’s the challenge. Maybe it’s the thrill of the unexpected. Then again, maybe it’s love.

My Review:
Some Like it Scottish is another example of opposites attract romance which I am sort of fascinated by because I like to see how the author handles their couples characteristics and personalities and how they mesh together. Patience has handled it beautifully. The book was fun, it was enlightening, it amusing, and I enjoyed watching Ramsay and Kit play off one another and I really liked seeing how Kit's job kind of winds up blowing up in her face. How do you hook up a guy with someone else knowing that you're having feelings for said guy? Do you do your job or do you come out with the truth and tell him how you feel? I really had a good time reading Some Like it Scottish.

My Rating:
5 Stars
