Eight seconds...
That’s all Rex Kingsley wants. Eight seconds on the back of Bodacious, the most feared bull in the PBR. Two years ago, the massive bull threw him and stomped him into the sands of the Tulsa Rodeo in front of ten thousand spectators. Rex survived. Barely. Now his single goal is to conquer the bull touted as “unbeatable.”  No bull rider has lasted eight seconds on Bodacious’ back for over five years. Rex aims to break that streak, and his lofty ambition leaves no room in his life for a woman.

Until Kimber...
Kimber Adams just wants to celebrate her birthday with friends. A few drinks. Maybe a spin on the dance floor. But when she falls into Rex’s arms, literally, her plans change. She and Rex share a night of passion but the handsome cowboy wants more. Kimber’s no stranger to the perils of bull riding, though. She makes it clear that Rex needs to choose between eight seconds on Bodacious or a lifetime with her.

I'd just like to take a minute to rub this novella in the faces of all the readers out there who don't follow author web pages and newsletters.

Heh, okay I had my fun.. Seriously though, if you're a fan of Erin Wright or if you haven't read her books before you still have a chance to get a copy of Stampede of Love as well.Just sign up to follow her newsletter and your copy will be emailed to you.

Don't forget just because its a free book doesn't mean that it doesn't need love like the rest.

That being said Stampede of Love is one of those kismet love stories. No matter what goes on the h/h are drawn together by fate no matter what their intentions are. Its rather cute and fun its a quickie but that doesn't mean that Kimber and Rex can't have a HEA. I rather liked Rex as a character he was irritating but he was seductive and despite a few flaws he's one of those guys you can't say no to even if you want to.

Until next time book lovers...

Fun and touching
Accounting for Love - A Long Valley Romance: Country Western Small Town Romance Novel - Erin Wright

This was a fun quick read. Stetson thinks the worst of Jennifer when she comes to audit his books. She is used to this type of reception. The spark grows as they realize their attraction and give in. Jennifer is smart and knows things should not be happening the way they are but goes with her instincts. Stetson is adorable as a spoiled child, gentleman, and knight in shining armor. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and will look for more in the Long Valley series.

I received a copy of this story as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.

Review: The Long Valley
The Long Valley - John Steinbeck

I've read about half of this collection before in various places. And I would agree that the best stories in The Long Valley are those which have been heavily anthologized. But reading them again in the context of the whole collection was surprisingly enjoyable. Here you get a wide range of Steinbeck's tone with a single theme throughout: violence.

As with all collections, some stories were weaker than others. In particular, I wasn't a fan of “The Murder,” a story which seemingly justifies the abuse of a wife. Having never seen Steinbeck as a raging misogynist, I chalk this story up to an objective portrayal of the culture at the time. Other stories in this collection may imply I'm wrong, however. We'll leave it at that.

Certainly, Steinbeck was primarily a novelist. He wasn't a masterful short story writer, but that doesn't mean he couldn't write a short story. Obviously, he could. I enjoyed this collection despite its limitations. Steinbeck fans should definitely get around to reading this one. Others may just wish to stick with the more heavily anthologized stories (e.g. “The Chrysanthemums,” “Flight”).

Reading progress update: I've read 28 out of 226 pages.
The Long Valley (Penguin Modern Classics) - John Steinbeck,John Timmerman

Proof that Steinbeck doesn't always need 600+ pages to tell an amazing story. He can do it in 14 as well.

Mount TBR 2015 - Book 5
The Long Valley (Penguin Modern Classics) - John Steinbeck,John Timmerman

The first Steinbeck of 2015. And it's a collection of his short stories. Including The Red Pony which I found incredibly sad when I read it at school many, many years ago.
